Ray threw his name in the draft last night.

I really like him late in the 1st or early in the 2nd. He has all the tools to be a really solid PG, & I love the poise he plays with. Doesn’t force anything or turn it over. Just plays in the offense & is extremely efficient in doing so.

Sneaky athleticism too. Has the ability to dunk on your head. Excellent mid range game too.

I have him mid-second. I’m not too sure about him honestly. I feel like he downgraded ever since his freshman season.

I liked him coming out of high school but have only watched a handful of games of him since he’s rarely on national TV. Was in the risk of not getting drafted at all next year, he can be a 2nd or 3rd PG in the league.

Noooo, he has no shot at the first round at all, he MAY get picked up in the 2nd round, but I doubt that, he will make his way into the NBA after playing overseas or really turning some heads in the SL.

    In this draft?

He’s definitely going to get drafted, but 2nd round is probably more likely.

I went to school at OSU so I was able to watch him in the McDonalds game in Columbus.. He was in the PG skills competition against Knight and Irving, and I was actually very impressed with him.. I was shocked to see he was going to Detroit, but then I found out his father was the coach..

Coming off that point, he hasn’t been that great in college. Athletically, I think he can make it in the league. He needs to get stronger, and needs a more consistent shot.. But as of right now, he’s a 3rd string PG with potential at best.

I really like his game. He is a smart player that can get his teammates the ball in the right position so the can be successful. He is not a first round pick. I think that he will be mid second or not drafted. But like in all drafts it only takes one team to like you. I think that if he has good workouts and a solid summer league he can get someone to see something in him that they like and are willing to give him a chance. He is not going to be a starting point guard, but there is nothing wrong with being a good back-up.

I didn’t catch a Detroit game this season, but my last memory of him was getting throttled by 2012 2nd round pick Tyshawn Taylor. I often use how players perform against other draftees to gauge their skills and impact, so for Ray’s sake, I hope he made significant improvements since last season. Tyshawn Taylor made a roster for a playoff team as a 2nd round pick, so it’s not like he’s a complete scrub, but he also on averaged 2 points per game. Ray had trouble with his length and he didn’t have much of an outside shot last year.

I love his game. He will surprise allot of people and haters at the combine with his skills and athletic ability. Reminds me of Russ Westbrook. But thats me. He knows the game well, i think a GM will fall in love with this kid like the did Lilliard and Westbrook

Russ athletic ability is on a whole other level, but I get what you are saying.

Ray LOVES that mid range pull up ala Russ, but he also is nowhere near as reckless with the ball as Russ. Ray handles pressure great & simply doesn’t force ANYTHING. Now that doesn’t mean he doesn’t like to push it when the opportunity is there, because he most definitely will, & do so very effectively, but he certainly won’t go out of his way & be selfish to try & make something happen.

I think playing for his dad was a great thing for him. No he didn’t play the top talent in college, but going into college I thought he chose Detroit & his dad so he could get as many shots as possible & try to put up ridiculous stats.

I think his dad did a great job in coaching him up & making him play team ball. Ray Jr has sleeper all over him if he is selected where is projected as of now.

Don’t look at the college he attended & write him off, ESPECIALLY if you have yet to see him play on a daily basis. Put on the tape before you write him off.

Ray McCallum is def not a LOCK for 2nd round.

    How?

Let’s take a look at some 2nd round projected PG’s:

    Isaiah Canaan
    Myck Kabongo
    BJ Young(Combo)
    Pierre Jackson
    Peyton Siva
Lorenzo Brown(Depends on what mock draft you look at)
Erick Green(Depends on what mock draft you look at)

That’s already 7 PG’s who are more than likely going to go over McCallum, who’s he going to go over?

There’s only 60 people getting there name called in the draft, he has no chance at the 1st round, he was projected by many mocks as a 2nd pick for 2014. I think he knows his stock isn’t going to get any higher due to the fact his team won’t win much next year, and next year is a deeper draft.

He’s small(6’1 at the most in shoes) isn’t overly quick or fast in the open floor, but is a great leaper, and has that sneaky athletic ability, can run the pick and roll pretty well and can hit the mid-range, 18.7 PPG, 5.1 RPG, 4.5 APG is good, but we have to remember he was in the Horizon, no knock on him as i think he still is a high major D1 player and could have produced there as well.

Am I saying McCallum doesn’t have a shot to get drafted? No not at all, I think his shot to get drafted is just very very slim, unless he really shows out at workouts then I don’t see him getting drafted.

Siva and Pierre Jackson will NOT get drafted before him.

I don’t see why you think they won’t, you may be right about Siva, but Jackson will go ahead of McCallum, Jackson does EVERYTHING better than Ray, the only advantage Ray has over Pierre is height that’s it.
