In my opinion hes a very solid nba point guard. what i dont understand about most scouting reports about him is that they say he is not a good athlete. this is very far from the truth as he seems to have leaping ability that rivals most nba guards. what do you guys think of him as a prospect?

Mccallum is a definitely a player that can play in the NBA. If scouts dont think he is a good athlete then they are not watching the same person. I like his game, he is probably more of combo than true point, but can definitely run the point. Fact of the matter is he plays for detroit. If he was on Kansas or Kentucky they would call him a top 10 pick. Nevertheless the kid can play on the next level, I dont think he is a franchise type player or maybe not even an all-star caliber, but definitely can be a starter on the next level. There are alot of talented pgs out there not named teague or marshall, but only a few recognize them.

He’s more of a scorer than a true PG, but he’s a decent offensive talent. I don’t think he’s anything special as a prospect though. He seems like a standard backup PG to me. Something like a CJ Watson type

McCallum is indeed a good athlete [I think we’ve all seen the McD’s dunks he did]. However, his athleticism is more suited for an SG than a PG – as his lateral explosiveness [critical for a PG] is average and he tends to play a tad upright for a PG.

He moves smoothly, and has good vertical explosiveness, two things you see more often out of wings than PGs.

That’s not to say he isn’t a PG. He seems to have a solid foundation in his mentality [instilled by his dad/coach]. But at the level he’s playing against, it’s only natural he’d look to score more often against inferior competition. I’m interested to see how he will perform against high-level PGs [whether it be in games or workouts].
