Dazzling Dunks and Basketball BloopersParticipantNot a shocker by any means but he has made it official after flirting with the idea of a comeback the past few years. Fantastic career and one of the best shooters of all-time and all-around players of his generation. Likely first ballot HOF in 2019 (I believe that’s the first year he would be eligible).

KingslayerParticipantI’d be upset too if my rival was a HOF 3-point shooting legend and I was an overated PG.
I’ll never forget Ray’s clutch Game 6 shot or just watching him play great basketball his whole career. No one worked harder than Ray: http://www.theplayerstribune.com/ray-allen-letter-to-my-younger-self/

TravelinTravParticipantRay Allen is one of the best and underrated 2gaurds. I wouldn’t put him with MJ or Kobe but he’s got to be in the next tier down. Would you put him in the top 5 SG in history?

SubZeroParticipantI’m not sure about top 5, but definitely top 10. I have a hard time rating guys I never really got to watch like George Gervin and Clyde Drexler. Then you have guys like AI who was pound for pound probably the best player ever but never won a championship (although carrying that 01 Sixers team should be a consolation ring), and Jerry West who some might put as an SG

HitsterParticipantRay is a HOF lock, whilst he may not spring to mind immediately when you consider the real greats, he remains the leading 3 point scorer ever, one of the greatest 3 point shooters ever and one of the top off the ball players ever.
His game 6 three point shot in 2013 was one of the best shots ever when you consider the circumstances and how after a collision he had a split second to get himself outside the 3 point line and get his shot off. The step back was as good as anything Curry did last season and don’t forget Ray was nearly 38 then.
It was a pity that he never got to 3,000 3 pointers, I’d hoped he might hitch a ride with a contender for the run in in either 2015 or 2016. No doubt offers were there if he wanted them.
Again if he wanted a coaching role, I’m sure in this shooter dominated era, he’d be in huge demand.

BeastMode716ParticipantI’m old enough to remember Ray Allen in college
Remarkable baller – Smooth as butter stroke
Delivered the Greatest Clutch shot in NBA history when he foiled the Spurs in 2013

CynthiaParticipantGrowing up Ray Allen was one of my favorite players. I feel like despite his stats and accolades he was largely underrated. He played his best days on the Bucks & Sonics and was already past his prime by the time he made it to the Celtics, though still an efficient player. This was when his name started catching the fame he deserved most of his career. Before the Celtics he was always that guy just known for playing Jesus Shuttlesworth in He Got Game (one of best movies ever!). I’m glad he ended up getting some rings, and I’m surprised no one gave him a shot these last couple of years, sure he may not have the athleticism anymore but I doubt he’s lost his jumper.
He has a great personality and always seemed very knowledgeable, I could easily see him being a coach one day, I think players could respect looking up to someone like him. I have the same birthday as him (July 20th) so I’ve always had that connection, and I think that’s where my interest in him initially started and only grew from there the more I watched him play.
Good luck in retirement Ray, we wish you the best. Looking forward to seeing you as a first ballot Hall of Famer.
