Supposedly either one could take out Michael Gilchrist as the Number 1 player in the 2011 class, I have heard their names tossed around here and there but now suddenly they are in the top 10 on most rankings such as ESPN, Rivals and Scout and I wonder where did these guys come from? I do not really know their games that well and was wondering if anybody could give me a brief summary of their skill and strengths and weaknesses and answer how they were able to rise so fast in rankings, what makes them so special?

Quincey Miller is a Melo clone.

Anthony Davis is confusing to me. He’s seemed to come outta nowhere to me. In the Syracuse area, he has some hype up here. There recruiting him and I heard he’s a potential “can’t miss” superstar at the next levels.

Quincy Miller is a great player with some unique qualities. The 6’9″ Chicago native has skyrocketed up rankings as his skill refined. Aggressive, and willing to shoot it from anywhere on the court if you leave him open, combined with his skillful handles, and you have the player with the most offensive potential in his class. It all depends on how he want to work for it, but he has a great base.

Anthony Davis is a skinny kid from Jersey who’s height continues to increase as rapidly as his hype. He’s a raw player who’s getting used to his new found height, but the athleticism, guard skill base, motor, and size (reportedly up to ~6’10” with a 7’3″ wingspan) you have a player in the mold of Chris Bosh who could end up being closer to the players he was compared to (Duncan and Garnett) with his potential.

Both have extremely high ceilings for their respective skills. Davis is becoming a truly intimidating shot blocker. Miller is a mismatch every time he steps on the court. Gilchrist is probably the only player who can guard him one on one in his class. Gilchrist has stupid potential in his all around game. (Ceiling of 20 points without being aggressive, 7 rebounds 6 assists 2 steals and a block. He can do it all except shoot long range. he could be Dr. J-esque if things pan out well.) I love all three of their games, and are the reason why 2010 is looked at as a down year. 2011 is loaded…. we haven’t even discussed Teague, Rivers, or McAdoo. Or Blackshear, Wroten, Nash, Beal, Kabongo, or Christmas. Most of these player did work in the U17 and U18 comp. These guys are seriously talented.

Thank you Knicksboy since I haven’t seen either of them play in a full game I by no means am a person who analyzes players solely based on highlights so I could not base anything off watching one and since there are a lot of great basketball minds on the site I figured to give it a try. Thanks a lot Mkadoza that was a great summary and explanation appreciate your response.

I’m not scout, but Q Miller’s got scary skills for 6’9..so comfy on the perimeter and he can change direction off the bounce with ease..can stroke it..no better then Gilchrist

I haven’t seen Anthony Davis play, but obviously he’s got ridiculous potential if he’s flying up the rankings.

Nobody’s better then Mike Gilchrist. He plays hard every possession and is more talented then any kid in 2011.

By the way…these 3, plus teague..might all go to KY. (Teague and Gilchrist already committed, Davis has them in top 3, q millers facebook has him in KY gear)

Ive always said Miller>Gilchrist. Davis is a beast, I think he ends up at Kentucky as well, which is just wrong. Cal just reloading and reloading, hopefully Matta can get Davis to come to OSU. I think Cuse lags behind in third in the Davis race. Miller rumored to be Ville.

Marquis Teague isnt better than Wroten, just so you know. Only reason Teague is ranked ahead was because Wroten got injured.

Btw, Anthony Davis grew like 8 inches didnt he? I believe he was 6’0. Hes got handles and the skillset. Way more talented than Perry Jones.
    Fuck yea, I said it.

Wrotten was better than Teague before his injurie maybe that’s what you meant. However, right now Teague is a better pg than Wrotten and it’s obvious…I think being 6’5 Wrotten could be a great SG

Davis had an 8 inch growth spurt that is how he got on the scene out of no where. he was a gaurd but grew so much that he is a forward with gaurd skills. He can step out to about 18-20 feet. put it on the Floor. and most of all block alot of shots..

Miller on the other hand was always a top 30 prospect now he is in the top 5 because he is a another player around 6 foot 9 with face up skills. His handle is really good to be that height and he can pass the rock like greg monroe.

MIke gilchrist is still the best player because he plays the hardest other players like to cruise and take time off during a game, and mike never does thats why he is still the top player.

Austin rivers is the best scorer in the nation. he has scoring tools that NBA gaurds have. He has all the jab steps, ball fakes, shot fakes, pass fakes. down pat. and a killer stroke out to even 30 feet deep.

and marquis teague for now is better then tony wroten. but when wroten get fully back in shape it will be a tough battle

It’s obvious because he just came back from a knee injury. Hopefully, he’ll get fully back and we can judge who’s better, but as of right now Teague is better
