HobbyOGParticipantFree NBA league pass for a week will make you watch every game…very difficult watching the Pelicans, they looked terrible. They have to fire this guy or trade Cus. Jrue Holiday contract might be worst then Chandler Parson, can’t create or get teammates involved, looked like they were playing street ball with guys they never played with before. Cousin took like 9 3’s, they have no bench, spacing etc. Gentry will be fired before Christmas…

SubZeroParticipantGentry will probably get fired at some point if they don’t win games, but the coach can’t be responsible for the team being allergic to having a good bench and a good wing player. They haven’t had either at least since AD’s been there

HobbyOGParticipantI agree, you can’t blame everything on the coach but the GM always uses the coach as an escape goat. GM made terrible moves and a terrible investment in Jrue, who hasn’t showed promise in years.

The GoatParticipantI had SVG as my first coach fired but I think the price on Earl Watson just shortened up
How do you get blown out by 50 on opening night?! By the Blazers without CJ no less!
Absolutely no excuse.

CynthiaParticipantAgreed, that game was an absolute embarassment. We knew they would be bad but there is no excuse to almost lose by 50 whether it’s the first game or not. Earl Watson won’t be there long, not that it matters the team is garbage even if they bring in a new coach.

OhCanada-ParticipantI feel like Earl Watson is that teams fall guy though, like the rebuilding coach for until they can find a coach that suits the team concept they are looking for.

OhCanada-ParticipantDell Demps needs to go too. He has done a terrible job putting talent around Anthony Davis and should be ashamed of himself.

Dazzling Dunks and Basketball BloopersParticipantI remember back in the summer of 2015 when Gentry was hired how much optimism there was surrounding the franchise. They had just won 45 games and Anthony Davis was emerging into a superstar. The general consensus seemed to be playing for an offensive genius like Gentry would take Davis’s games to the next level and they would develop into a perennial contender. Unfortunately things didn’t quite work out that way.
Just for the record, I don’t blame the pelicans struggles solely on Gentry though. This is a team that has consistently swung for the fences in trades and overpaid for marginal players in free agency throughout Davis’s tenure with the team. The coach can only do so much with product on the floor and to be honest, the product on the floor just hasn’t been very good in new Orleans. It kind of makes you wonder if Monty Williams got a raw deal.

OhCanada-ParticipantI dont remember anybody thinking firing Monty Williams was smart. Just a bad move all around. I guess he was brought in as a temp coach in the first place and overachieved in the Pels eyes but after they brought NOP to the playoffs and lost to the Spurs everyone loved Monty on that team especially Davis.
