I’m having a hard time trying to figure out who will go 7th to the Golden State Warriors because their biggest need is at SF, but Barnes and Kidd-Gilchrist will most likely be off the board and it would be reach to select Perry Jones, Terrence Jones, or Moe Harkless.

So, I was thinking of maybe a trade between the Warriors and Rockets:

Rockets get: 7th and 30th pick-They could pick Damian Lillard and Fab Melo or Festus Ezeli. Goran Dragic is a FA and Kyle Lowry has already had a beef with Coach McHale. Melo or Ezeli could fill a need at C.

Warriors get: 14th and 16th pick- They could pick Tyler Zeller and Moe Harkless

Zeller could back up the injury-prone Andrew Bogut. Harkless fills a need at SF

The Warriors would probably prefer trading for an already experienced SF but if that doesnt go through than this trade could be another option

Who do you guys have the Warriors taking in your mock draft? Best Player Available? Filling a need? and do you think this would be a fair swap of draft picks?

That’s a solid trade idea. I don’t know if it actually happens, but that’s certainly one of the most realistic deals I’ve seen mentioned.

Good idea , but I don’t think GSW would take Zeller.  They already have Biedrins backing up Bogut unless they decide to package him as well.  I could see GSW taking Damian Lillard at 7 so they can use him as a 6th man and slide Curry over to the SG when they go small along with Jeffrey Taylor at 30 to fill the SF position because he is NBA ready.  That is if they decide to not trade the picks.

If thats true that the 76ers are looking for some high pick for Iguodala I think Warriors should do whatever they can to make this trade happen. As for my Iguodala is a perfect fit to the Warriors. He’s a great defender, all around player, veteran leader. He’s also a good ball handler which could be very important because it will allow sometimes Steph Curry to play of the ball. I have a trade idea which should be intriguing for both team

    1) Jefferson + 7,30 pick for Iguodala and 45pick : Warriors by this trade are filling their biggest need and taking from their payroll a bad contract. Sixers get 2 valuable picks which allows them to grab ( with their own 1rounder ) 3 very nice prospects ;

    GSW 2012/2013:

    1) Curry

    2) Thompson

    3) Iguodala

    4) Lee

    5) Bogut

with Robinson, Rush, Wright, Biedrins from the bench

as for me, if Boguts healthy, this is a playoff team. Thats probably the goal for Marc Jackson.

    76ers:

    1) Holiday

    2) Turner

    3) P. Jones ( 15pick)

    4) Brand

    5) Leonard or even Drummond ( GSW 7 pick )

with L.Williams, Vucevic, Meeks, Allen, Jefferson and the 30pick ( D.Lamb?, Ezeli?)

That trade would make them a more promising team,  because now they are just stuck in the middle with very little perspective to make a step forward. They are taking Jefferson contract but I think it is worth it

    Thoughts?

I like the idea and the situation for both teams. I never neg trade ideas but this one is good even if it doesn’t happen.

I don’t think NBA teams want to get 3 first round picks… all the teams with 2 and more draft picks are reported to shop at least 1 of them. NBA teams just don’t want to have too many rookies at the same time in their roster.

I like the first trade idea… 7/30 vs 14/16 especially for GS (zeller harkless)

it’s not simply the problem of having 3 rookies, it’s also 3 1st round guaranteed contracts you have to supply

another reasonable possibility for the Warriors is to trade for Iggy!

let say RJ plus the #7 and #30 picks for Iggy

it will give the Warriors good complimentary to Curry and Thompson in the backcourt. Warriors after the trade:
    Stephen Curry/Nate Robinson/Charles Jenkins
    Klay Thompson/Brandon Rush
    Andre Iguodala/Dorell Wright
    David Lee/Draymond Green(#35 pick)/Dominic McGuire
    Andrew Bogut/Andris Biedrins/Jeremy Tyler

as for Sixers that leave them with 3 first round picks. they also could amensty Elton Brand to clear a lot money for free agency moves. Sixers could draft Terrence Ross to provide shooting and athleticism on the wing, Jared Sullinger to replace Brand and Fab Melo to bring mass to the Cposition – non need to resign Hawes, in free agency they could sign  people like BEasy to bring talent and scoring, Sixers after this:
    Evan Turner/FA
    Jrue Holiday/Terrence Ross
    B-Easy/RJ
    Jared Sullinger/Thaddeus Young/Craig Brackins
    Fab Melo/Nikola Vucevic/Lavoy Allen

I posted this exact trade a whole week ago. While it would probably benefit both teams, I don’t think it’s being discussed.

Rumor is the Warriors want to trade the #7 pick and go for Luol Deng. Obviously there would need to be some fillers thrown in as well, but I like a #7 pick for Deng swap. Deng is 27, which isn’t old, but realistically he won’t have #7 pick value a few years from now. If I’m Chicago I’ll trade Deng, and get 19 year old Rivers, 20 year old Lamb, or 20 year old Waiters to pair alongside Rose for the next 10 years. Chicago may try and get Wright or Jefferson thrown into the trade, or if Chicago kept pick #29 they would go after Taylor, Green, Miller, or Joseph.

There have been rumors of AI going elsewhere for the past few years and I think GS is a viable landing point given there needs.  Making this move frees up playing time for Turner, which I believe needs done to give the young kid a realistic chance.

The AI + 45 for Jefferson + 7 + 30 seems viable especially if the Sixers use the Amnesty clause on Brand.

That would leave the Sixers with the following under contract : Holliday, Turner, Young, Allen, Vucevic & Jefferson.  Williams has opted out and I expect him to land elsewhere.  There is a good chance Hawes & Meeks resign so the lineup could look something like this:

    1 – Holliday

    2 – Turner / #7 or 15 / Meeks

    3 – #7 or #15 / Jefferson

    4 – Young / Allen / #30 or #54

    5 – Hawes / Vucevic / #30 or #54

Brand (18M out) + AI (14M out)  and Jefferson (10M? in) should leave room for 1 solid free agent signing.  There have been rumors of Humphries at the 4.

7/15 could yield a combo of Ross or Lamb (To give them a real shooter) and either Moultrie, Jones III or Harkless to strengthen a F position.  30/54 would be depth/potential/international (Melo, Fournier, etc…)

oh no! i think Luol Deng worth at least top 3 pick, he is now number 3 SF in the league after LeBron and Durant and even with Pierce.

I understand what you are saying, but I still think that this trade would have a positive effect on the 76ers franchise. For me they are just stuck in the middle and without doing any trades I dont see them moving forward. Remember that they can also amnesty Brand and have plenty of cape space througout 2 or even 3 years. The can sign some players who could provide some veteran leadership. Maybe a trade involiving David Lee can also be a possibility. I dont really know how hight Golden State is on him but maybe :

Lee + 7,30pick for Iguodala and 15pick – For me the trade with Jefferson is a more possible and just a better one but this is also intriguing. The first one was a better one for Philadelphia but this is also worth a look.

Let’s say for instance the top four go AD, T-Rob, Beal, MKG or MKG, Beal (either way), Sacramento takes John Henson at No. 5, because they love him, and because they already have plenty of offense, they just need defense and shot-blocking, and let’s say Portland takes Lillard. That leaves Harrison Barnes to Golden State. Would they still trade that pick for AI, or would they rather keep Barnes at that point?

I guess the reason I’m asking is, would they wait to see who’s there at 7 before pulling the trigger on a trade? I’m sure they’d hate to jump the gun on a trade and then find out there’s a guy there who they would’ve loved to draft.

Luol Deng is not the 3rd best SF, ever heard of Carmelo

I would rank Carmelo and Pierce before Deng at this point. I’d still prefer Iguodala to Deng.

I’d rather do the 7/35 for the 14/16. Then at 14/16 draft Henson and either PJones, TJones, Harkless, or Leonard if still available.

As far as SFs that are supposedly on the trade block go, I’d like Iggy, JSmoove, and Deng in that order. Iggy would be a perfect fit for the Warriors; he’s a good defender and a great passer. JSmoove has a high motor and brings some toughness to the table, which is something the Warriors lack outside of Bogut. And Deng is a great perimeter defender, and a decent option on offense–something the Warriors could definitely use.

The problem is that the Warriors have no expiring contracts, just big bad deals like Richard Jefferson or Andris Biedrins. And those bad deals are a negative in trade talks, which would decrease the value of the 7th pick.

If I were aGM I would love to have early 2nd round picks in this draft… even 3… you can have very good role players for cheaper price… and you can sign deals with different length (more flexible than end of the 1st round)

For example the cats could trade their 2nd pick to clev for the 4th AND 33th and 34th picks. The cats could get robinson or MKG or barnes at 4th (all are needed) and then grab two role players (jenkins / lamb / green / cunningham / Q.miller / taylor / middleton / wroten / barton…).

I think it would be more interesting than 4th and 24th… in this draft the range 20 to 40 is very homogeneous.

Propers to JYD for using the word "homogeneous" in a conversation pertaining to anything other than 10th grade biology.
