I dont understand why it hasnt happened yet. I get that he is coming off of a knee surgery but there is serious potential for some contenders to absolutely get a steal here. what if a team signs him for low salary and he returns to where he was in 2008 by the end of the season? that was only 2 years ago and he is only 31. that is still possible unless i am missing something. i get that he had some problems in houston and wasnt in great shape last year but i really feel that when you are t mac you should get at least a second chance. maybe even a third.

here are teams on the edge that should have already signed him by now

Orlando. I cant even begin to imagine how sick that would be. even if he doesnt get back to full form it would be sick to have backing VC again like he did in toronto.

New Jersey. Seriously why not? his ceiling with your team is that he returns to full form and your team goes from one of the worst teams ever to a young talented squad with a veteran leader and alot of potential. floor- hes not in shape and doesnt contribute but he could still help the young talents out with growing.

New Orleans- You better do something to improve your team or your going to lose chris paul. i say picking up the player that is the second best shooting guard since jordan is worth a gamble

Cleveland- what does this team have to lose? besides their team seattle and entire economy of the city if they dont get something. T mac should be on their short list of potential saviors

Clippers- this team still needs one key piece before they are going to be in the chase in the west. a wing with mcgradys vision and skill could be the part they need.

Im not saying he is for sure going to be back but i dont understand why everyone is counting him out at the age of 31. thats younger than kobe, every one of the big 3 in boston, nash and hill. All of those people helped their team to a successful season last year and hill definitely looked down and out when he was 31. somebody should go for it.

Bulls have been the front runner until they figured TMac may want too big of a role that may shake chemistry.

It seems TMac is widely considered as a backup at this stage of his career worthy of 15~25 min a game. I personally think TMac can be a pretty good starter for the Bulls, but the Bulls are probably higher on the like of Ronnie Brewer and Luol Deng.

I am pretty certain TMac can find a home soon.

Do they have the cap space..The pieces that they have picked up are horrible, horrible. They really need to look at getting some young talent to come off the bench and run. But mcgrady would be a nice pick up for them or orlando. Those teams should be gunning for mcgrady, and they would be stupid not to, matter fact DALLAS MAVERICKS need this type of scoring threat. I will take mcgrady with one knee over any of 2 gaurd bench players for those teams.

OOOOH i didnt realise that the Cavs had Joey Graham. Thats a good reason not to make move for tracy mcgrady. the ex scoring leader/most improved player/ multiple all star. those are brilliant reasons
like t mac and shannon brown couldnt work together either? i dont see any reason why it would hurt brown who is better without the ball in his hands to play with mcgrady whos court vision is excellent for a 2/3.
    Jesus christ. Joey Graham seriously?

Tmac can really fill up a stat sheet, but his overall style of play is not conducive to “team play”. He needs to be an integeral part of the offense with alot of touches and he has never proven himself to be a lockdown defender. If you hear Tmac talk, he has worked extremely hard to get alot of his athleticism back. He has a chip on his shoulder and wants to prove he’s still that guy. With that type of attitude teams have to know that Tmac won’t be trying to be a piece who fits in, he will be trying to be a offensive leader out on the floor. Instead of adapting to the team who signs him he will expect the other players to adapt to his style of play. Tmac’s teams don’t win no matter who else is on the roster. He is like the really good player who shows up to your local gym and his teams always fall just short and can’t hold court. This is the same stuff Iverson brings to a team. Until Tmac changes his style, he’s a big risk on the floor and in the locker room because he won’t be happy.

IF T-MAC can change his game around then he would be a good pick up. He needs to become either a shooter or a defensive lockdown player. More likely he’ll be a shooter and only then would he be a good pick up for a contender, especially Orlando and their offense. Plus they need a guy at the end of games that can finish when Carter is off, and I believe Tracy might still have that killer instinct.

HotSnot i respectfully disagree. He is not like iverson but more like garnett. garnett was stuck in the 1st round of the playoffs forever. all he needed was a better team and to grow up a little. i think the same thing about mcgrady. if kobe or VC or MJ were counted as strictly a back-up at the age of 31 i think they would play like they had something to prove also.

Tracy, if you ever happen to read this post. Please RETIRE. There is no role fit for you in the NBA anymore. Sorry man. Best of luck. Maybe overseas?

He should start over brewer. T- Mac is gonna be a beast next season I have a feeling. If he don’t get hurt lol. Naw seriously he is bouncing back next season. Takes year with knee injuries. Look for it from KG, and Al jefferson too. They will have strong seasons after a year and a half removed from those surgeries. KG played more athletic toward the end of the season compared to earlier in the year. Mac just needs to build his conditioning up. Concerned about his D, but Brewer is there.

It has nothing to do with his style of play. If he was never injured these tes would sign and start him. Since theyatent sure then they want him
to come off the bench. If he was smart he would have told the bulls he’s happy at coming off the bench then
out play everyone and become a starter

    I don’t know Flybobbyfly…

Typically, Tmacs teams have a resurgence and go on win streaks when he’s injured or at the very worst hold court with a similar winning percentage.

When Garnett goes down his loss is really felt by the team and they have trouble holding it together.

Garnett is an elite defender at his position and a willing passer/team player. Tmac is not really either of those things unless it suits him. AI was the same way. The dimes AI and Tmac put up were never “make my teammates better” assists. They were generally dump offs or pass when I’m in trouble. TMac and AI also have horrible carreer FG% for their positions aswell… with AI inparticular hovering around 41% for all those shots. Those are team killing percentages. A miss generally results in a loss of possesion and those things add up. They also hurt other players on your team who are trying to build a rythem and feel involved on Off. The longer this goes on the more often players begin to stand around and stagnate which precipitates more selfish play when the ball finally comes down the pipe and also makes for a predictable offense to defend. The shots these players take might seem sexy and highlightreel in nature but they hurt more then they help overall. The goal of the game is to put the ball in the basket as quickly and effectively as possible using all the pieces on the floor at your disposal. Tmac and AI have never got that in my humble opinion.

Stat stuffers… Hell Yeah!… but they don’t make teammates better and they don’t win.
