If your looking for a guy who has dramatically improved his stock in the past few months, Washington has to be it. Coming into the season he was probably viewed as a fringe nba prospect and a tweener who lacked the size to play the 4 and the perimeter skills to play the 3 at the next level. However, with a greatly improved jump shot and overall offensive game he has changed the conversation. Although only in the 6-7 6-8 range, Washington’s athleticism , 7-2 wingspan and frame should allow him to play the 4 at the next level and his improved shooting may even allow him to play on the wing against certain matchups. He has been arguably playing at an all-American level in SEC play, and I think he can still add a lot to his game.

I think Washington has clearly played his way into the first round in this years draft, but how high can he go? With a strong tourney and combine showing I don’t think lottery is out of the question. What are your thoughts on Washington as an nba prospect?

I think he goes mid to late first, to a playoff team. Could be a good 8th or 9th man next year in the right system.

The thing I really like is his rebounding ability, especially on the offensive end. That is a skill that usually transfers to the NBA, so worst case I think he is a useful bench player. Best case, I see him as one of the better rebounders in the league, a top flight defender, who can score 15-18 points a game. I still have some concerns about his shooting. He is shooting 68% from the free throw line (free throw shooting is usually a good indicator of overall shooting ability), so I worry he might regress as a shooter. Still, he seems to work hard, has great length and athleticism. As you mentioned the combine and tournament will be big for him. I expect him to do well at both and think he will end up in the 15-25 range. If in private workouts he shows good shooting ability, I could see him sneak into the 11-14 range.

Pretty much agree with everything posted here. Beggining of the year I had him 2nd round. He was inconsistent but good the 1st qaurter of the year and I had him late 1st early 2nd. Now I have him mid 1st and rising. Wouldnt surprise me if he ends up a lottery pick as a proven prospect in a draft full of projects.

He’s been incredible for us and has played himself into national PotY contention and potentially the lottery. Early in the season I said he reminded me of a better Patrick Patterson, but the way he’s playing now he reminds me of Paul Millsap. Not sure if he can reach the same heights Millsap did in the league, but as far as playstyle goes they seem pretty similar

I think he is a late first to mid second rounder right now.  I think he could be a David West type player in the league.

I think PJ Washington is a lottery pick that is rising. He has improved in all the phases he was evaluated low in. He’s young and he has a good motor, not to mention he has showed good leadership. Into today’s game he can play the 3, 4 and 5 in the league. Not to mention he his a stretch 4 and 5.
