Is it just me, or is Joe D doing a horrible job. Why is Tayshaun Prince still on this team? How would you rebuild the Pistons. Their ceiling as currently constructed is 8th/9th in the East.

I would look to move everyone I can except, Drummond, Monroe, Knight and Singler, look to get picks, expiring contracts or a bona fide star (if available).

Yeah,he’s made some bad moves like getting rid of Billups 2 years 2 early, drafting Darko, having several coaches come & go, and giving Gordon and Charlie V those bad contracts….Those contracts havent allowed them to bring in any free agent that had some impact….But he has done a great job of drafting recently….

Singler has played better then alot of people thought, and the Pistons have gotten better since he’s been placed in the starting lineup…Drummond looks promising….I do feel its time to let Tayshaun Prince go elsewhere…

The only real surprising draft pick that he has made is Singler. Drummond, Knight, and Monroe were very expected draft picks given that they fell. That said, hopefully he will make some trades and bring in some good draft picks so we can move on from the past and focus on rebuilding the future.

It would be great for Tayshaun Prince to get moved to a good team. He could still be the right missing piece for any team in the hunt for a ring at age 32.

i would really like to see Tayshaun in a Heat uniform.
      He fits the Heat culture.

The Heats have enough perimeter players. What they really need is a PF or Center.

Who wants Tayshaun at 7 mill for the next 3 yrs (well, 2+ yrs). I could see a team wanting him maybe 2-3 yrs ago, but he’s a mediocre player now. Maybe the Lakers, but what do they have to trade in return? The Heat shouldn’t be looking for more than a yr commitment in a trade with their cap situation.

Looking at their salaries, I think their most movable assets are Maxiell or Maggette’s expiring and Jerebko, who’s out of the rotation now, but could be a nice energy, role player on a different team. I guess Stuckey’s a possibility too since his next yr is unguaranteed, but he’d have to increase his trade value by playing better. The problem with dealing expirings, unless you can swap expirings, is that it’s more often more valuable to have the cap space that they eventually create. If they’re looking for picks in a swap, they likely won’t get much for those guys. Maybe Stuckey could fetch a late first from some desperate team.

If I were the GM I’d just play the season out, let the expirings expire and try to draft the best swingman available, use some of the capspace to acquire vets and depth, back up PG in particular since I don’t really trust Knight as the only, primary ball-handler. Roll out Knight, Rookie, Singler, Drummond, Monroe in 2013. They’ll likely suck again but at least a lot of the clutter will be gone.

i think tayshaun is still a pretty good player… we shouldve got rid of him perhaps two seasons ago
but with his contract… which team is willing to trade for him?

in terms of drafting… there are guys like mclemore, goodwin and shabazz (if they get lucky)… i dont mind keeping stuckey for now, as long as hes coming off the bench… he plays good in a reserve and gives room for knight to do his thing

I think Detroit is better than their record because once Drummonds gets rolling they will be a pretty solid team in the East. They need to move pieces that they are not using but they have some talent off the bench.

I’m still under the impression that Monroes best position is center as it is Drummonds. Would Piston fans consider a Drummond for Derrick Williams swap if Minny took Prince and Charlie V somehow too? If the Pistons got back D Will and Alexsei Shved for Drummond and bloated contracts it could possibly jumpstart their rebuilding a few years.

I think they’re both C’s too, but they should at least give the combo a shot before they decide that it’s not gonna work. Drummond doesn’t exactly complement Monroe offensively, but defensively he should be able to check PFs and make up for Monroe’s slow feet.

The pistons are 5-3 with Singler starting. With Prince, yes he is a bit overpaid but he always brings leadership and experience on and off the court. Just look at the Kings, full of talented young guys but need a vet or two to make them gel.

I made a few posts about it during last season – when MKG was projected to go 7-9. Of course as the season went on he got better and better. But MKG guided under Prince would have been perfect. Singler is starting at SG but could play SF, when Prince goes. The pistons will look at a SF or SG in this years draft and once again Prince will help out.

There are a few players who haven’t yet developed. They could get Wes Johnson or Derrick Williams cheap. I did say the same thing with Aminu – he would of been great under Prince’s guidence but I think Aminu has improved and won’t come cheap….
