Would you be happy if your team drafted Perry Jones? I he scooted up to 9 on the main page, and I was wondering if you guys would be happy with that?

Personally I think if Perry is gonna be successful as a pro, it’s gonna be as a 3. Don’t get me wrong, he will do fine down low, but to truly utilize what hes capable of, it’ll be on the wing.

since picks 2-8 are very similar in talent level, I think there will be a lot of trading going on in this draft. It would make a lot of since if the Pistons could move up and snag Drummond somehow. I know the risk is HUGE, but he could be the perfect fit with the right coach. I know there are a lot of questions surrounding Andre, but could imagine if he even utilized half of his potential matched along that front line with Monroe… Watch out.

If you can get a guy in the 8-12 range in the draft who could be on the Rudy Gay-Danny Granger level then that is a solid pick.  One guy is an all-star, and the other is a borderline all-star.  Both can score, and Rudy is a pretty good clutch player.

In the late lotto, mid-first range that is about the most you can ask for.

As far as guys with the highest "ceilings" he is third on my list behind Anthony Davis and MKG.  T Rob is another player with upside but he won’t last past 5.

Andre Drummond is a player with a "high ceiling" but he is kind of raw, but he also lacks a big time motor.  He disappeared some at UConn.  I am also concerned that he is closer to 6’10 than 7’0.

But, once you get past the 5th or 6th pick, PJIII looks like the best "upside guy" on the board.   There is a lot of potential there for a 6’11ish small forward.

He is only 6’10, he’s also not even 20 years old yet. I bet he makes it to at least 6’11. He was also the fastest player on Uconns team & he can jump out of the gym.

I don’t know what his deal at UConn was this year, but thats not the Andre Drummond people know. Theres NO QUESTION, his ceiling is top two in the draft(AD being the other). This kid has been labeled the next Dwight Howard since his Freshmen year in high school. He also entered college a year early.

He is honestly the highest risk/reward pick in the last 5 years. You could be getting a total bust, or you could be getting a Dwight Howard with some ball skills.

I think you take him….low risk high reward.  Someone compared him to Austin Daye on this forum a few threads ago and I think thats a horrible compairson.  I personally like Perry Jones’s game I know alot of people dog him but I love him playin in Detroit.

They have to go big and get it more than once. John Henson is a good fit, they need his defense and rebounding.

Draft: Henson, Henry Simms, and best european prospect available

    Knight – Bynum

    Stuckey – Gordon

    Prince – Jerebko / Daye

    Henson (1st round pick) – Charlie V / Jerebko

Monroe – Simms (2nd round pick)

I like Henson as a fit better than PJ3, too, but they’re good enough at developing talent to get something out of PJ.  The issue is whether they’d use him as a 3, where he belongs, or as a 4, which would stunt his growth.

Best case scenario would be a Thomas Robinson Greg Monroe frontcourt

Couldn’t agree with you more PulseGlazer … He needs to develop on the wing.

While we’re addressing Pistons fans, I’m curious about a few things too:

How satisfied were you with Brandon Knight’s rookie year? I personally was not especially high on him coming into the draft. He finished with about 13 ppg, 4 apg, 3 rpg, and percentages of 41-38-76 with 2.6 turnovers per contest. I didn’t see him on TV much. Did he look like a Top 5 pick? In retrospect, would you have rather had MarShon Brooks and just went with Stuckey at point? After seeing all the rooks play an NBA season, would rather have had Kenneth Faried or Norris Cole? If you could, would you trade Brandon Knight for Jeremy Lin straight up? (and you can’t, but I’m curious anyway.)

Faried would be perfect for Pistons, probably over Knight, but Stuckey is excellent as a 2, largely because he can look to score and gets to the line a ton.  Knight complements Stuckey well since he can shoot and has great size for a 1.  He’s also a great athlete and works incredibly hard.  I like the fit and think he and Stuckey as above average starters (long-term obviously) with Monroe as a star is quite the foundation.

Stuckey is not a point guard at all. Stuckey was amazing as a shooting guard in march averaging 20+ppg. He tailed off in April though and im not sure why. I was impressed personally with Brandon Knights rookie season. He showed the ability to be worst case scenario a solid point guard. Hes fairly athletic and has a nice jump shot. Hes tall too. i really like how he doesnt turn the ball over. He needs to improve on his facilitating for sure thats number one but it makes it less of a concern when he protects the ball as well as he does. I really like brooks but im happy with this pick. Stuckey and Knight really compliment eachother well in the backcourt.

We are really unlikely to get the number one pick but how perfect of a combination is Davis and Monroe? They would compliment eachother perfectly. At the 9th pick i would like Perry Jones. hes a boom bust pick but i feel if we start taking "safe" players we might get stuck in the late lottery for a long time. Henson is good but i dont see him as an nba starter so im not much of a fan. Glen Davis’s success shows that Sullinger could bea good player and im high on Jared but him and Monroe really imitate a lot of the same things.

I’ve been lobbying for Perry Jones all along. Im not sold on Henson one bit as a prospect and about Brandon Knight he looks like a future star if he can become a better facilitator. You look at his rookie numbers and they’re comparable to to a Jrue Holiday and Darren Collison. Definitely a steal at 8

I hate Perry Jones for an 8th or 9th pick. I compared PJ3 coming out of college to Ty Thomas, Austin Daye and Anthony Randolph not for their style of play but for being "overhyped" and beind drafted with that magical word "potential" which none of them lived up to….

I think Henson could be a 10/12p 7/8r guy who could be a top 10-15 shotblocker in the league. He would fit best with Monroe.  They could try and trade their pick to the Nuggets for Faried although I am not sure the Nuggets would take it. They could even try and trade for Ed Davis with the pick as I think he might be a better pro than Henson. The pistons were looking at Ed Davis and Monroe in the 2010 draft…

I think Henson would be the best fit but I’d rather have Perry Jones for his upside.

The Pistons have been developing their young core starting with Knight and Monroe. I’d be happy with either Perry Jones or Henson. In either case, they’d be in line to replace Tayshaun and Maxiell, and I think Tayshaun is the more movable of the two, but the Pistons need an upgrade at PF much more. I’m a fan of Prince but I think it’s time to let him move on, even though he took a paycut to resign with the Pistons.

As for Knight, the Pistons basically gave him the reigns of their team and he’s become their #1 PG as a rookie. I liked his effort and loved his shooting ability but he made a lot of rookie mistakes. He’s only going to get better in this situation though, good move to let the rookie PG develop with the new head coach Frank.

The Pistons played their rookie and sophomores, Knight and Monroe, the most minutes of anyone else on their team this season.

Austin Daye is a 6’11 SG/SF and a bust as far as I’m concerned as of now. He could get better down the line, but I think his days in Detroit are done.
