BallinAIstyleParticipantSixers Fans,
If your not local, yesterday on sports talk radio here in Philly the afternoon guys challenged fans to call in and provide their dream draft scenario for the team. As I expected there was some legit scenarios put out there and as usual some unrealistic ones as well. I enjoyed listening either way and wanted to put out the same question for the members here on this site today.
If I had it my way things would would out as followed:
1. 3rd Overall Pk: Andrew Wiggins, SF
2. Phila/LAL Trade- 10th Pk, Thad Young, 52nd Pk to LAL for 7th pk, Steve Nash (Buy Out/Retire/Worst Case- Seasoned Vetern to play backup PG)
3. 7th Overall Pk: Julius Randle, PF
4. Second Rd: I’d like to see Sixers take 4 remaining picks and via trading/swapping turn it into 3 higher value picks (Ex. Keep 32/39, and take 47/54 to move up to 35/36) With those I want PJ Hairston, J. Stokes, and D. Daniels.
Thoughts? Also anybody think the Sixers have what it takes to get Wiggins and Parker while keeping MCWand Noel? I know I think it is crazy too but imagine that..and I actually think they could play well together being on the court at the same time because of their difference styles.

Ebown5ParticipantThis is my dream draft scenario as well. Wiggins and Randle is perfect.
You can the elite talent and athlete in Wiggins that fits our roster like a glove, and the a tough nosed elite rebounder and low post scorer that fits next to Noel perfectly.
Randle is pretty likely to be there at 7 I think so whatever we have to do to trade up to 7 without giving any future first rounders, MCW or Noel is fine by me. If we can’t trade up and are stuck at 10 then Stauskus, Saric or Lavine would be great too. Aaron Gordon is another guy I would love to get, but I would expect that he won’t make it to 10 so we would probably have to trade up for him too.
In the second round I don’t have a dream scenario as I don’t really have enough knowledge of the prospects to feel strongly either way. I love PJ Hairston and GRIII, but I am guessing that they will end up going in the late first round.
I also think that there is a possibility of a salary dump kind of trade up into the late teens where someone like the Bulls would giv eus the 19th pick. In that scenario, I would love to get someone like Hairston, or Hood.
The most important thing to me is that we don’t trade the 10th pick to move up in the draft and not get too cute with the 3rd pick. Take whoever falls from the top 3.

Captain LParticipantWhat are you giving those teams that have the 35th&36th picks in order to move up? They won’t just take the 47th & 54th picks.

Toronto16ParticipantWiggins needs a shooter to create spacing and driving lanes for him. It would be great if they could get McDermott at 10.

Neggedpastorif im sixers I wait and see if randle slips before trading young that’s a seeable trade because the nash contract isn’t going anywhere but like I said if randle slips to 10 they have caproom and still have young to acquire more assets.
the dream is randle slips. if not I can see them working out a trade I would love to see parker and randle or wiggins and randle play together.sixers would have made out with two of the top college players this year because no matter how much upside the players who are taking before him have randle won and produced this year thru triple and doubles teams ,entire defensive schemes.

burgessfourParticipantWould love Wiggins but pretty happy with Parker @ 3
Love to trade up for Randle with only having to move 10, Thad and one of 47,52,54. If they couldn’t trade up for Randle would like to see them get wherever in the 20’s it would take to get Payne while only using Thad and one or two 2’s. In this case take a SG @ 10.
If they keep 32 & 39 take McGary & Stokes.

Ebown5ParticipantYeah, I guess I should have said that my dream scenario would be to get Embiid, but I am assuming that he has no chance of being there at 3. My scenario of Wiggins and Randle is based somewhat on reality.

s1xersfanParticipantWould LOVE Wiggins and Randle.
Also agree that Lakers would be open to moving the 7th pick for a veteran, and Randle could be there. Depends how highly teams think of Smart, in my opinion. If Smart goes top 6, I see Randle being there.
I think this is just the type of draft that Hinkie (aka The Christmas Poo) is trying to have.

juves4783Participantif we are talking about dream scenarios, what about signing greg monroe and keeping#10?
trade thad young to gs for andrew bogut and harrison barnes. why? because gs wants to offload bogut’s contract to re-sign klay thompson and have draymond green as a backup sf. 76ers get another young piece in barnes and a servicable backup center.
then…wiggins falls #3, lavine at #10, stokes at #32, patrick young at #39, joe harris at with another 2nd rd pick, euros the rest of the way.
sign jordan hamilton and hope he lives up to potential.
then you’d have…
starting 5: mcw, wiggins, barnes, monroe, noel
bench: wroten, lavine, joe harris, j-rich, hamilton, stokes, moultrie, young, bogut

NeggedpastorMonroe would be a great player to throw money that we aren’t using anyway at. I also like us going after Bradley then butler next year. I read that hinkie isn’t willing to sign big free agents until his has a better core. I think hes waiting for his foundation and once he gets it will sign a good player(s) before their rookie contract is over.

ballislyfe25ParticipantI really like the trade with the Lakers to move up from the 10th pick to the 7th. The Lakers get someone to come in and contribute right away, along with being a trade asset (not a great one but one nonetheless), and still can select someone they would be looking at with the 7th pick. Philadelphia can grab Randle or take their favorite out of Harris, Stauskis, Lavine, and McDermott. Who turns that down?

delco610Participant- I definitely would like to see the team remain at #3 in the hopes of wither Parker or Wiggins fall to them.
- I also would be in favor of doing a deal with the Lakers to move up to #7 and take Randle with the previously proposed trade.
- If we could then trade #32 & #47 to move back into the late 1st say with OKC #29 then we could grab the best shooter available (PJ Hairston/Jordan Adams).
- At #39 I’m taking BPA targeting players with potential/upside (Spencer Dinwiddie, DeAndre Daniels or CJ Wilcox)
- Picks #52 & #54 are either draft and stach candidates or i’m trading those picks for future picks

BallinAIstyleParticipantYou really think GS would do A. Bogut and H. Barnes for T. Young straight up? In all honesty if there was a way to get that done..I’d personally drive to GS and pick both them up and bring them back to Philly! But no in all seriousness I am a huge H. Barnes fan and think a lineup of MCW, Wiggins, Barnes, ?, and Noel is a great start in getting going in the right direction. As far as the PF spot Monroe would obviously be great but I’d rather not pay someone as much as he will require because thinking about the future and if and when these players do hit their ceiling we won’t be able to pay them..
What do you think about doing what you said Wiggins at 3, the trade with Golden St, and then drafting a guy with great upside at 10 like Saric..would be a great stretch 4 down the road and maybe trading up to get Payne late 1st
MCW, Wiggins, Barnes, Saric/Payne, Noel
Off the bench- Wroten, Moultrie, Bogut, and then couple 2nd rders like Stokes, Hairston, and love Joe Harris idea..in my opinion just as good of a shooter as Mcderrmont

juves4783Participanti mean they owe bogut $36M over the next 3 years. that’s a large amount for a guy that missed a lot of time the last 2 years. plus, after next season, thompson is a restricted free agent and will get a lot of looks. if they don’t move lee or bogut, they will have a hard time with $50M dedicated to bogut, lee, curry and iggy. plus, in thad, you get a guy that can run the floor and provides a lot of flexibility in a uptempo offense like g.s. doubt it happens, but i don’t think it’s the worst trade ever.
i was thinking high upside with the lavine pick. him and james young have the most potential at the 10 range. i think saric is going to slip in the draft because he is such a tweener.

Neggedpastori would love for barnes to come to philly if its a way to get it done I wouldn’t give up much after this seasons numbers but I would like to see what he can do on this team and would throw him a a bs long term deal just to keep him around to see what he becomes GS doesn’t have the time to wait we do.

NtsapParticipantRandle . Hopefully if he falls my Hornets take him but the way Cho has been drafting we will probably still take Staukas. Man if the 76ers come away with Wiggins and Randle I can see them making the playoffs not next year but the year after that .
