Now some of us have played against future college players, others have played against extremely talented high school players. Out of curiosity, who are the best players you have ever played against.

For me there is this one kid named Trevor Dunbar. I never actually played against him, actually we were eliminated in the semi-finals before we got to him, but when our team went to go watch the finals, this kid was crazy! He was making step back threes and what not. He almostout scored the other team alone! And the rest of his team was not all that great, and they cruised in that game. Right now I hear he is at SI(Saint Ignatious) and I believe he may have been on the varsity team as a freshmen. The knock on him is his height, but he ranked as the 6th best point in the country at his age or somthing.

I played with Tobias Harris at my house, were tight cuz he went to my High School in Long Island.

and Lance Stephenson at a summer cmap a few years ago.

I think Tobias is slightly overrated and Stephenson is a great shooter but a terrible teammate.

I used to play pickup ball at KU’s rec center, I played against Aaron Miles, Keith Langford and Bryant Nash.  In high school I played against Dennis Latimore in an AAU tournament, he played at Arizona and Notre Dame, there wasn’t a lot of big talent that went on to NBA and D1 in Kansas when I played high school ball (97-2000).

I played with Donovan McNabb, Keiland Williams and Perry Riley from the Redskins last Saturday. We got run off the floor by the other team. LOL

    Bunch of Bricklayers.

I played in highschool with Jerrod Mustaf the Knicks number one pick in 1990.

Oh the worst was trying to move big Mike Williams former Bill and Redskin out of the paint, 6’5" 380. Ouch

Never made it out of rec league, unfortunately…lol.

BUT, I was on the traveling soccer circuit, and I’ve played against a bunch of kids that currently play in college. The most notable person I played against was the #2 overall pick in the MLS draft in 2007. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Abdus_Ibrahim

He was insanely talented, but pretty cheap- he definitely elbowed me in the mouth once. Joke was on him- his elbow bled because I had braces at the time, lmao

This guy is raw as hell. I know most of the guys he embarressed, and they are actually really good. We lost to Presidio in the semis by 4. We only have 180 kids in our middle school, and schools like Hoover, Aptos, Presidio, and AP had like 1200. I feel like our trap would have shut this guy down though.

I played against Ish Smith before his Jr. season at Wake. Quickest player I’ve ever played against, and he had crazy leaping ability for his size. He was skinny, but boy he was super explosive. And for a guy who "cant shoot" he made open shots too. Easier to make shots in open gym than in games though obviously.

I also played against Mario West at the Y about 3 summers ago. He was built like a football player, strong guy. I tried to cross him but, of course, he ripped me fairly easily. He wasn’t much of a shooter for an NBA player, but he never was asked to shoot for the Hawks lol.

Good stuff, he went to my dads old school, Bathurst Heights, until they shut it down. In his last HS game at Westhill, he scored 111 points (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Denham_Brown). He was my year in HS, though I never played against him. Saw him on the street once and gave him props, right after he was drafted by the Sonics. Denham was so good, that he was being talked about as a McDonald’s All-American candidate while playing HS ball in Canada, which is dope. But, what he will probably be best remembered for is this buzzer beater to send the game in to OT versus George Mason in their incredible tourney match-up in 2006:

I never played against anyone of huge name, though I got to shoot around with Aaron Brooks in college. Also saw some of those summer scrimmages, which were awesome. Had that incoming class of Bryce Taylor, Champ Oguchi, Maarty Leunen and Malik Hairston, who were all nasty. Brooks could THROW down too, amazing athlete. I know Luke Jackson played in the rec for a while after his senior year, and would torch all competition. But, most of those guys rarely played against anyone outside of the team, for good reason as they did not want to risk injury. I take on all comers though, just love to play. My HS had no hoops team and I played intramural in college, but not against anyone with a name. All I know is that there are a lot of great players out there, and that playing pro basketball takes a lot of work. Craziest thing would be playing against the guys smaller than me though, who play pro ball. I am not tall, 5’9, but I am just guessing that most of them are probably really strong and impossible to cover off of the dribble, plus equally hard to catch up too.

Game in high school we played against Bradley (only 7’1" back then)

    or biggest guy was 6’4"

Coach thought it would be funny to have me do the Jump Ball, Since I was only 5’2" ( I grew after high School)

Ref tossed up the ball, I jumped as high as I could, and Slapped him upside the head, got a foul called on me and I never played Center again!

I played a pickup game against Nate Miles (Uconn recruit who never saw a minute on the court and was the major cause of Uconn recruiting violations) and he was pretty talented.  He nailed multiple 3’s on us from deep beyond college range. Later he said he was drunk and high during the game – I wonder how he managed to get kicked out…

DJ Augustin, Nic Wise, Ray McCallum and Tommy Mason-Griffin.

Some other guys who were wings or bigs, but I actually matched up against the 4 above. I played with McCallum as a kid in camp, but the other 3 in HS…Mason Griffin had range out to about 30ft, Augustin had the most hype (highest rated), but Wise was the toughest (I was also younger then).
