So now that Monroe went to Boston, who else can the Pelicans look at to be their backup center. Preferably I think they would want them to be cheap or expiring, so they can deal with the Cousins contract in the off season. OKC could probably take a look at these guys too. Here are some options I found:

Zeller from Brooklyn. He’s fallen out of the rotation with the young guys (Allen and Okafor) getting all the minutes now. Probably could be had for a late second rounder, a small expiring contract (Clark or Cunningham) or even cash.

Jefferson from Indiana. No need for him if both Turner and Sabonis are healthy. He is expiring at the end of the year and has put up decent numbers when Turner has been down. Probably will take Ajinca and a 2nd rounder for him.

Speights from Orlando. Expiring and Orlando doesn’t need him. Can spread the floor, but can’t really handle the big centers. Can be had for the some packages as Zeller.

Noel or Mejri from Dallas. Both expiring and both aren’t in the future plans for Dallas by the sounds of it. Don’t know what they would want for Noel. Mejri would be the same kind of deal as Zeller.

Faried or Arthur from Denver. Both have fallen out of the rotation with the surplus of bigs Denver has. Faried is a helluva rebounder while Arthur can spread the floor. The downfall is that they are bother under contract for another year and aren’t small contracts. I don’t know if Hill and a pick would do it or if they would have to go with Moore and Ajinca and hope they get Beasley back as they can’t really shorten their wing depth either.

Boban the Great from the Clippers. He can’t play a whole lot of minutes, but he does have size. If Clippers are looking to clear up money for the off season they could trade him for Ajinca and save about 2 million.

Koufus from Sacramento. Not a fit for Sacramento but is a very solid player. Good rebounder. Has another year on his contract, but seems to be good value for him (puts up great stats whenever he gets playing time). Could probably get him for Ajinca and a 2nd. Could even get some young guys thrown in as it sounds like the Kings are putting them up for trades too..

If the lakers wind up buying out brook Lopez he definitely becomes a possibility for them, but that’s yet to be determined.

The remaining options aren’t exactly ideal. Losing out on Monroe is a tough break for them. I think one of the primary reasons they made the deal for mirotic was because they thought they would get Monroe and make a playoff run this year.

I’m surprised nobody gave Jared Sullinger a call yet. But there’s a tons of centers on the market. Jusuf Nurkic, Dwayne Dedmon, Willie Hermangomez, Derrick Favors as Mentioned above Brooke lopez. All in pelicans range I would think.

I think he doesn’t have enough left in the tank, physically. Sounds like his knees are shot. I’d expect New Orleans to go after someone a bit more durable.

Nerlens Noel is totally out of rotation so could be an option, NOP could offer a second rounder to try and get 4th big unless they sign up an FA. Andrew Bogut is available and as a defensive big compliments Mirotic’s offensive game.

They have a gem of a big in the bench in Chieck Diallo but Alvin Gentry is pulling a Doc Rivers a playing Dante Freakin Cunningham over him. Give the guy some playing time evry otehr game just like what Kerr does with Bell and Looney and they will eventually turn up to be solid role players.

Bogut will probably get a call somewhere too. He was a good pickup for Cleveland, gave them a decent possession

Noah Vonleh is good when he plays but is currently out of Portland’s rotation.

Or they can sign Emeka Okafor.. Don’t really know how much that will help. Haven’t seen him play during his comeback.

    in new orleans?

i’m not a fan of the major markets getting pieces easily…

but seriously Anthony Davis and Demarcus Cousins playing anywhere else would be a lot of fun and hype.

The league needs to cut its boring teams and ship the talent elsewhere.

Brooklyn, New Orleans, Clippers.  The Clippers are actually valued 6th highest in the league but thats going down they’ve never been a good team.

After Brooklyn New Orleans and the CLippers…

I’d get rid of Charlotte and Orlando and maybe Sacramento.  These teams haven’t had identities for decades.  The NBA needs to do itself a favor and cut off the dead weight and keep the league interesting.

I’d rather see teams in Barcelona, London, Paris and Berlin in the NBA.

Willy Hernangomez – I don’t know why the Knicks aren’t playing him.

If I was New Orleans, Washington or Milwaukee I would offer a top 10 protected first round draft pick for him…

Good insurance if they don’t re-sign Boogie.

The Knicks are a very highly valued franchise but haven’t been relevant since the Pat Ewing era!

I don’t think an NBA Team will ever be based in Europe due to logistical reasons and length of NBA season.

An NFL team is much more likely in London at Tottenham Hotspur’s new stadium which has a bespoke NFL pitch they can slide in. That would not have been installed for just one or two games a year unless NFL have agreed to fund a lot of it.
