Being a GM with a need at SF,who would you take and why? I haven’t seen enough of Paul compared to Al so I need some opinions from people who have seen them both play.

I would take Aminu without a doubt. I watched a ton of college basketball last year and I didn’t even know Paul George existed. That being said Aminu has skills and should become a solid pro. Paul George plays in a weak conference and didn’t even dominate because his team sucked. We will have to see what George does this year.

Paul George- { Tracy McGrady/ Kevin Martin}, Kid can flat out score… very smooth with his handles having the ability to rock defenders to sleep and either drain a jumper in their face or blow by them. He has very deep range on his jumper and can easily pull up off of the dribble. He plays smart on both sides of the ball and would rather wait for you to make a mistake then force a play. He has really nice ups and isn’t afraid to finish at the basket, especially in transition. He will shy away from contact an really has to add weight if expects to score in the paint at the next level. He had alot of trouble finishing in traffic in the one game I seen from start to finish (san diego state). Compounding that problem is his horrible FT% for a guard (69%). His lack of weight will also limit his ability to keep stronger guards and forwards out of the lane.

Al-Farouq Aminu-{ Lamar Odom/ Marvin Williams} Solid shooting touch 12-15 feet after that it gets sketchy. Solid shooting motion, with repetition should be able to extend his range to the NBA 3 point line….although he will probably never need a heat check from the arc. Good handles for a man of his size with the ability to take defenders off the dribble and can shoot on the move. Long strider who can really move in the open court… also an explosive leaper which makes him a valuable threat in transition offense and defense. Ridiculous length with a 7’4 wing span added to his athletic ability make him a good on ball defender and rebounder. Due to his length he can easily guard larger players off of switches… added lower body strengh will make him even more effective in this area. First learned the game as a post player, and has some moves down low that he can use to his advantage against smaller players. Can play some spot duty at the 4, but his lack of lower body strength and wirey frame will limit this to an extent. Sometimes falls in love with taking unwarrented shots from the perimeter instead of using his size and gifted athleticism to get to the rim ala Odom and Williams. needs to improve his FT% (67%)

I’d personally put my money on Aminu… George will def be the better scorer of the two, but Al-Farouq will have more value down the road due to his versatility and his defensive potential

Paul George. I see a Kobe like Player. All he needs was too work on his passing and he could be another Kobe like. His game is very smooth and if he find a couple of teammates, he could look real good and even contend for the 1st overall pick.

Aminu- I dont know why but alot of people dont see him as a #1 pick. He has alot of upside. I see a good player, he could be another Shareef Abdul Rahim.

I’d take Pual George just because he kind of reminds me of McGrady, but I understand what Gatorheels is thinking with Aminu.

My brother actually goes to Fresno State and watches all the home games. As of what he told me, he said Paul George is unstoppable on offense and even though he plays in a weak conference, he has a ton of potential. He does deserve all the hype right now of being a top 5 pick and the Tracy McGrady comparison is somewhat accurate. He can knock the jumper down and he can blow by defenders and dunk on anyone in his way. Paul George is legit.

I don’t think Paul George is legit yet. If he cant lead his team to more victories in that weak conference. I mean last year their record was awful. Their schedule was super soft. The best teams Fresno St. played were St.Marys, San Diego St., Creighton, & UNLV. Fresno St. lost all those games. Yeah George scored 20pts in 3 of those games but only scored 2 pts against SDS. It seems in a lot of games he has more turnovers than assists. He also racks up quite a bit of fouls. Yeah he is a pretty good scorer but that doesn’t mean anything when you’re playing against teams like Hawaii. I have to see him lead his team to at least the NIT. I also have to see him become a much better passer. One dimentional scorers are pretty easy to find. Look at Stefon Jackson from UTEP, he could score at will too but didn’t even get drafted. This website has George way overrated and I will be the first to say. Maybe I’m wrong but I’ll be the first to say thsi- George wont even be a lottery pick in next years draft.

I personally would take Manny Harris, Terrico White, Lance Stephenson, Xavier Henry, Sylven Landesberg, Avery Bradley, James Anderson, Willie Warren all over George right now. Like I said though I have to see what George does this year in college. He has to really improve and lead his team to a lot more wins if he wants to be a lottery pick. I think him being the 6th pick in the 2010 likes this website predicts is a HUGE stretch.

I feel you. I was born in Brooklyn and lived there until Lance was Junior. I know him and saw him play, he is amazing. He got skipped by the Level 1 school and a Level 3 school got him…he will be a monster at Cincy.

Manny Harris…I like him and I think he will shock alot of people this year. He is a good scorer and rebounder but i wanna see some more playmaking ability from him

Warren…I would take George over Warren, i think Warren is more of a scoring PG. Also, Warren reminds me of a scoring Jamal Tinsley.

The others are all close..Bradley is my underrated player. He could be another Russell Westbrook

I’m with gatorheels and birdman as usual. Aminu is a great team player and has legit size and skill. Aminu was the best player on a #1 ranked team last season and he is still getting better. He also had to share the ball with 2 potential lottery picks. Without having to share the ball with Johnson he will put up impressive numbers. Aminu is like Luol Deng with a better shot. George is solid player but he is clearly the man on his team. I’m not sure how successful he will be when he is 3rd or 4th fiddle in the NBA.

I still cant believe the current mock draft on here has him going 6th in the 2010 draft….there is no way. I think this dude is way overhyped already. Like I was saying there are a bunch of SG/SF players that I would take ahead of George. I think the chances are slim that he is even a lotter pick next year. Maybe I am lost on this one though because most people seem to have bought into the hype and are saying George is the real deal.
