The conference is super deep this year, the deepest ive seen it since 2008 back when the conference was absolutely loaded (lopez twins carrying Stanford to the elite 8, klove, westbrook and collison in ucla, ryan Anderson scorring 22 per game at cal, taj Gibson and oj mayo doing big things in usc, james harden tearing it up in the desert, Wazzu won 25 games and was ranked top 10 briefly and advanced to sweet 16 led by the guard duo of derrick low and kyle weaver with aaron baynes down low, zona had lotto picks in Jordan hill, jerryd bayless and chase budinger. Oreogn made the tourney with a super deep team that included 3 guys who went second round in the draft that year. Jon brockman had the huskies competitive. Only sorry team that year was Oregon st and they got completely curb stomped to the tune of 0-19 in conference play after going 6-6 out of conference. That was one hell of a year to be a pac 10 fan) So anyways sorry I digressed, back to now, this years conference isn’t great by any means, no teams look phenomenal, but just a really deep conference top to bottom with no nights off. The latest Bubble watch has 9 teams with a chance at making the tourney.

I still believe Cal will be the best team when its all said and done and they get tyrone Wallace back from his broken hand. The freshman are developing nicely in Jaylen brown and ivan rabb. They re only 15-8 but I think they are coming together.

Arizona needs freshman guard Alonzo trier back to give them another guy that can get buckets on his own. This team isn’t nearly as good as recent years but still at 19-5 they will be playing in march.

Oregon is the current leader at 20-4 overall. They have a super athletic front court and all their bigs can run and jump and trap. they spread the floor with multiple shooters and use their speed to attack you off the dribble.

My bruins stink on defense and will be lucky to get in tourney, but the talent is certainly there.

usc is the surprise of the conference at 18-5 after stinking it up the last 2 seasons. Andy enfield went from the hot seat to possibly winning coach of the year overnight. they have a deep team with 7 guys averaging between 10 and 13 points.

Uah started the year ranked highly and looked good then went into a real funk to start conference play but have gotten things turned around.

-Ive had Andrew Andews as my front runner all along but he has struggled in recent weeks making this thing wide open for poy. Im thinking Payton might get my vote if it was today but Poeltl means so much for his team you cant count him out and Ryan Anderson is on an absolute tear recently putting up 27ppg and 14rpg last week in 2 wins over the Washington schools. This zona team is not as talented as recent years, especially with 3rd leading scorer Alonzo trier out with an injury, so Anderson leading this team shouldn’t be overlooked like they expect zona to just be good no matter what.

-josh scott is my vote for most over looked guy in this conference. Ive liked him since his freshman year and im glad to see him improve his body and get more physical. His scoring, rebounds, assists, blocks and fg% have gotten better all 4 years in college. I don’t know if he will make it in the nba, but somebody should give this guy a look in the second round

and for my all conference teams as of now:

    first team

    Andrew Andrews ( Washington): 21ppg…6rpg…5apg

    gary payton (Oregon st): 17ppg…8rpg…6apg

    ryan Anderson (Arizona): 16ppg…10rpg…59fg%

    jakob poeltl (Utah): 17ppg…9rpg…65%fg

    Dillon brooks (Oregon): 17ppg…6rpg…3apg

    second team

    josh scott (Colorado): 17ppg…9rpg…2blcks

    Bryce alford (UCLA): 17ppg…4rpg…5apg

    Gabe York (Arizona): 15ppg…4rpg…43%3pt

    Jordan mcluaghlin (USC): 13ppg…4rpg…5apg

    Jaylen brown (California): 16ppg…5rpg…2apg

    third team

    josh hawkinson (Washington st): 16ppg…11rpg…56fg%

    Dejounte Murray (Wasington): 16ppg…6rpg…5apg

    Rosco Allen: (Stanford): 15ppg…6rpg…1stl

    Isaac Hamilton (UCLA): 16ppg…4rpg…3apg

    Tra Holder (Arizona st): 16ppg…4rpg..4apg

-Tyrone Wallace of Cal misses out due to the injury but once he gets back he is one of the top 10 gys in the conference for sure.
