As I’ve said on this site many times before (and I believe most or all of you agree) the NBA needs to do something about flopping. We’ve said that refs should be able to look at game film after games and if it is determined that someone intentionally flopped they should be fined, repeat offenders suspended. Well the NBA is going to take a look at this idea finally.

There was a thread earlier, but all that’s needed is a simple 10k per flop fine. Then we won’t see the biggest strongest athletes in our country fall down from a gust of wind.

good direction, but i hope the league can also penalize the refs for making bad/wrong calls. maybe not as much as they would the players, but something thatll force them to make the proper calls. although, that is a long shot since the Stern year after year praises his referees even though a bunch of the fans feel it is unwaranted.

Retroactive punishment would work well. I’d like to see a rule instituted if a ref calls a player for flopping, it’s a personal foul. The fine should be mandatory, whether it’s called on the floor or not. No need for flopping.

The Clippers may flop a lot but they are no where near as bad as Miami.  It seems like LeBron brought over the technique and taught it to each and every member of the Miami Heat roster.

As far as the Clippers, I still consider them Lob City.  Flop City to me belongs to the Miami Heat.

But, James Harden is also excellent. Plus, Dwyane Wade has always been dramatic, if LeBron learned it from anyone, it was him. Dwyane’s constant attempts at drawing fouls has worked less and less, plus driven myself and countless others insane.

These penalties would have to be retroactive, as it would just slow the game too much to review every single "flop" attempt. Still, it could be a possible deterrent. Just feel that everyone will still act and be overly dramatic, think that drawing fouls has always had that kind of flare. Whether it was MJ’s body movement, Reggie Miller kicking out his feet or the diving of Vlade Divac, calls will be misinterpreted.

To me, LeBron is no worse of an offender than numerous other prominent NBA floppers. Yes, it is annoying. Still, to say LeBron is worse on average possession than anyone else seems like a statement without much merit.

Do the Heat really flop that much?  Wade does and Battier does, but LeBron doesn’t much compared to most top scorers.  I’d say that the Thunder flop more, with Harden, Fisher and Durant.

Didn’t Paul Pierce kind of take flopping to the next level? Dude rolled out in a wheelchair, and came back to play like 5-10 minutes later.
