I have him as late first round pick in my mock draft and I’m even more convinced after his great perf against WVU (18pts 8rbds 3as 3blks, 4/7 from three). What are your thoughts?

I was really surprised with some of the things that he brought to the table. He’s way more athletic than I would have imagined and his outside shot was pretty smooth. You would look at him and think that he was slow and couldn’t jump because he’s kind of chubby, but he’s a way different player than that. He doesn’t play explosive all of the game, but if he gets in shape and drops some pounds we could see more of it on a consistent basis.

He could go in late in the first like you said, but if you are projected late in the first it’s no point in doing it. But also like you said, if he gives us a few more high flying highlight dunks with about 14 and 8 a game, then he might go in that 17 – 22 range. He has decent moves inside. I’m kind of curious of what others think about his interior moves.

Surprised me too with this performance…I watched him a few times and he just seemed ike a taller version of Kris Jenkins at Nova, but he may have a good deal of untapped potential. He’s just so inconsistent, but then again he is a freshman on a veteran guard-centered team.

There’s no doubt he has an NBA skillset, the question is where he lands on the spectrum between Demarcus Cousins & Mareese Speights. IMO he should stay one more year as a more featured player but if he keeps putting up statlines like these he’ll pretty much have to declare

     How big is he?

Looks like a solid rotation guy.

In other news, how about that volleyball spike block Konate did on Mikal Bridge’s dunk? AWESOME!

Konate looks like a gamer, too.

Athletic old school bruiser. That does the dirty work. Not many of those guys in the league right now.His abil to hit mid range shots is a plus.Dude has a 7’2 wingspan.A good defender, crashes the boards.Reminds me of Jared Sullinger. Has lost Almost 30 lbs since he signed with Nova. Can he keep the weight off? He should return, but it won’t hurt to declare just to put his name out there and get feedback on what he needs to work on.

If he can stretch that three another three feet then he can play in the NBA.  Reference has him at 6’8 256.  If he can get to 245 he has that sneaky explosion to take a big off the bounce.  Doesn’t hurt playing in Nova’s system where they are switching everything.

‘Nova list him at 6’9.5", if he comes back for another year I see him measuring in as an NBA 6’10". I think that makes him a first rounder.

I totally agree with the Sam Perkins comp.  i was thinking the same thing.  I wish I had seen this guy play more.  He certainly looked like an NBA player.  Though that was the first time I have seen him so I will defer to others to make projections.  He looked pretty good out there though.  He should def test the draft waters.

I’m liking the bigs this year: Ayton, Bamba, Carter, Jr., Miles Bridges, this Spellman guy, Konate with WVU who impressed me last night, and Moritz Wagner. Oddly, Jaren Jackson jr and Bagley just don’t do it for me. I like Robert William’s upside though.
