Here is a plan I thought of for OKC:

Sign: Marcin Gortat. I read on a blog that they were targeting him. He could be a great deal for what he will be paid and a very good rebounder. He reminds me of Joel Przbyilla. This is something the Thunder really need to address.

Draft: Hasheem Thabeet would be great for them where they are projected. His shotblocking would be ideal. Also they have a later round pick where they should take Wayne Ellington. His shooting would really help spread the floor.

Positions switching: Move Russell Westbrook to the shooting guard as Shaun Livingston comes off of the bench.
    Starting Lineup

    Pg. Westbrook- Livingston
    Sg. Ellington- Seflosha
    Sf. Durant- Weaver
    Pf. Green- Collison- D.J White
    C. Kristic- Thabeet- Gortat

Thabeet is not ready to start yet and neither is Gortat.

Hire: Patrick Ewing to work with Thabeet. I know Ewing is looking for a head coach job, but I doubt he will get it. If he is smart, he will assist on one more team to prove he’s worthy of a head coaching job.

    What do you think?

#1 —->>> Until it happens, their priority every summer needs to be adding 15-20 lbs of muscle onto Kevin Durant.
#2—–>>> Wayne Ellington will not fall that far, but picking up a shooter would definitely help. Could also see them trading that pick for veteran help because they have so many draft picks in the next 2 years.
#3—–>>> if they did get Thabeet, Ewing would be a great hire, but Scotty Brooks is already on for next year and Ewing isn’t leaving a good situation in Orlando where he gets to work with Dwight Howard for Obscurity in OKC. Orlando is a better launching pad for a head coaching position, although I would love to see Ewing standing next to Brooks on a regular basis.

they definately need shooters and defensive minded players. they need to look for role players. if they get a strong big, that can rebound and block shots, it would be in their best interest. i think they should bring green off the bench, put krstic at the pf, and get a shot blocker to start at center. then they need shooters. they need a lot but have the most potential in the league.

The still have Robert Swift on their team who may finally live up to the hype so if they sign a free agent Center, they need to take best available player. They also have a lot of players they can trade so this will be a interesting off season for them

he hasn’t been worth anything since high school. Just stick to the tattoos kid.

And I see Marcin Gortat being another completely overrated big man who gets way too much money for one decent season comin off the bench where people suddenly think hes a stud and then your stuck with some huge 7 year contract with a fluke guy..(see: Jerome James, Brian Cardinal, Darko etc..)

I also think given their history of drafting tall skinny centers with no offense and just raw talent, they should completely avoid thabeet. They blew it with swift, petro, sene…and is thabeet really any different than them at this point? They should look back into gettin chandler since the hornets are probaly gonna get blown up to save money, and just throw a draft pic the hornets way.

i agreed with your post til the last section, saying thabeet is the same coming outta college as those three guys you just mentioned is a tiny bit ridiculous. i could see you saying that maybe if he came out after his freshman or sophomore years but he didn’t. he’s a three year starter a UCONN!!! with improved skills all around, offense and d. i’m not saying hes gonna be an amazing pro but he was big east player of the year. i could def see OKC taking him and him producing year in and year out

Swift Petro and Sene never proved themselves in college. i just dont see how theyre the same

none of them went to college….Swift was straight out of high school and tore his acl…petro was from france and was supposedly good there and sucked, now ridng the bench in denver. Sene was like 7’6 with tons of raw talent and isn’t even in the league anymore. I wasn’t sayin he’d flop like them, my point was they all had the same gangly 7 foot + but super skinny body type AND all had the “raw but with potential” tag. Sure he was 3 years at uconn but even there he wasn’t much more than a good shot blocker who scored off open dunks. Blair showed anyone with a body can throw him around (literally). SO while hes better than them, he still has their same glaring flaws which I think would limit him. I’d rather have chandler who has already proven himself when healthy and is still kinda young than draft another young unproven guy and hope he doesn’t suck like my last 3 who fit the similar mold.

THey should take james harden to start for shefelosha. He is a great offence player and a Paul Pierce like driver. He can also shoot decently. Their other first round pick should be terrence williams if he is available, but if he is not then get DeJuan Summers.

Thabeet or Griffin with the early pick and Terrence Williams with the late pick Thabeet or Griffin in the middle and a freakishly athletic backcourt with Westbrook and Williams. I also think Williams would compliment Durant with Durant shooting the ball and Williams getting 2 the rack and finishing and also with the drive and kick game seeing how good of a passer T-Will is. With him and westbrrok its almost like having 2 big point guards on the floor who can also score.

    I don’t know about them getting Harden…
What they need is role players who can hit 3’s well.
They may want to trade down and get Curry. This would save money and would give them future draft choices.

Another option in the later rounds would be Gani Lawal. He could bring what Leon Powe brings to the Celtics to the Thunder.

I think Green will be at the 3 with KD at 2 and Collison starting at the 4 again. Weaver is definantly not a small forward. To small and week.

now way that they are going to out kd at the 2 again. after brooks took over and moved him to thw 3 kd really blew up. with green speed and athletic ability at the 4 really is a great asset. he will be fine there long term as long as they get some bigs besides collison to start at the 5 and fill in at the 4

@jaredpaul89, ya on nba 2k9 sene is listed at 6’10 but when he was first scouted people were sayin he was 7’0 with a 7’7 wingspan yadda yadda just cuz he played average at the usa vs the world game for 18 and under. my pont was, he was just another raw potential kinda guy just like thabeet is even after 3 years. Thabeet is better but still raw potential and alot of room to be a bust.

@pig nobs,In my mock draft on my site, i have them takin harden. but after his tourny run, hes dropped down a few lists.

@76erBaller. curry would give them wayyy too small of a backcourt. hes goin to the knicks. And the leon powe type only works when u have a bunch of studs for him to just be a role player around freely. That won’t work on the thunder yet.

They need to get a big man. Try to get Tyson Chandler back. If this is unsuccessful sign Sheed to a one year deal and draft Harden. You still leave open the chance of signing one of the big guys next year. Or sign Boozer and draft Harden. If you do this OKC is immediately between 6-8 in the West. That would give them one of three lineups

    1 Westbrook 1 Westbrook 1 Westbrook
    2 Harden 2 Harden 2 Harden
    3 KD 3 KD 3 KD
    4 Green 4 Green 4 Boozer
    5 Chandler 5 Sheed 5 Petro
    6 Green
