    I am a huge Ohio State Fan, but i have a couple of draft questions, Ohio State has Three key guys other than Jared Sulingjer;

    no. 33 Jon Diebler (Sr.)

    no. 23 David Lighty (Sr.)

    no. 44 William Buford (Jr.)

I think Willaim Buford will stay for his senior year, but as the games wined down for Lighty and Diebler, Do they both get drafted first off? I know David Lighty Will early second or maybe late, late first; but i question weather Jon Diebler will get drafted at all, i think he has excellent offensive ability but will that be enough to get drafted? Also i am a big fan of (no.4 Arron Craft, Fr., PG) Does he have any shot in the NBA?

I’ve been so impressed with OSU this year. I honestly think their balance of inside/outside scoring makes them the scariest team in the country. But anyways:

Even though Lighty is making a strong push, Buford is their 2nd best prospect. Even though he’s probably just a 7/10 athlete and at 6-5 isn’t necessarily a big shooting guard, he’s just so impressive. He routinely utilizes one dribble step backs and stop-on-a-dime jumpers that you just don’t see from college players. His ball handling has also improved a lot as he plays PG when Craft isn’t in the game. He’s a very good shooter and would fit in with whoever drafts him. I really like him and think he’ll go in the 20-30 range.

Lighty’s also a good prospect, probably an early-mid second rounder with a chance of sneaking into the first round if he performs well in workouts, which he very well could. He’s a more controlled but less explosive Terrence Williams; 6-5 point-swingman with great range and even better instincts for attacking the basket. Great at gauging the flow of the game and deciding how to attack, and he’s a terrific on-ball defender. I think he could carve out an Aaron Afflalo type role in the L.

Diebler is a huge question mark, but I think ultimately he’ll end up in Europe, making bank. For my money he’s the best spot-up shooter in the country (48 threes in 15 games, 51%) and he’s 6-6/6-7 so he has good size for the 2 but he’s entirely one-dimensional. Good on the fast break but otherwise all of his points come from beyond the arc essentially. He’s not very good at getting his own shot, but he can. Based on what was expected from him when he came to Columbus, he certainly hasn’t disappointed in his career as a Buckeye. Broke the school’s 3-point record today I believe and he’s gonna help them go far in the postseason.

Crater, I don’t love. He’s very unselfish and good at finding people but his assist numbers are inflated by virtue of having Sullinger, Buford, Lighty and Diebler to pass to. Has a surprisingly good stroke but almost never shoots and is not aggressive in creating shots for himself; sometimes he can be a non-factor and if OSU wasn’t so stacked, they would double him on the perimeter. During the game today one of the announcers said he had "elite quickness" and I burst out laughing. No NBA potential but could be a very solid 4-year player.

Forgot to mention, despite what my account name implies, I’m not an Ohio State fan.

Craft will not be an NBA prospect, and though Diebler has a slight chance, even if he cracked an NBA roster he would not be in the rotation, he is an overseas guy which do not get me wrong is nothing to be ashamed of, great players have good basketball careers over there. Lightly is a solid prospect, he could prove to be a serviceable role player down the line for a team and fits well with almost every team very selfess player.

I am very high on Buford and think he could be a late lottery pick, he has good size for a SG, great stroke, good ball handler, can attack the basket, good defender and when he isn’t scoring he finds other things to do to help his team win such as find the open man, to me he could be a solid starter for a good team in the NBA if he continues to work hard and get better.

U have no clue if craft will be a NBA player or not. He’s only a freshman.  Many freshmen who played worst then him
    Became NBA players

Diebler could get on an NBA roster depending on circumstance. A team might need a shooter for the end of their bench, but he’s not NBA caliber at ANYTHING besides shooting the ball.

Lighty Jr. has a chance to be a late 1st round-mid 2nd round pick prospect. He’s solid. At 6’5 220, he can match up at SG or SF, he’s smart and saavy, has good spot-up shooting ability, the understanding of how to play without the ball alot, and he is unselfish. I’d love to see him be a rotation guy.

Buford is a decent prospect, but I’m not a fan of his really. He can shoot, and he’s a decent passer and athlete, but he’s rough around the edges a bit. He’s not going to be an efficient shot creator I don’t think. He looks too upright off the dribble and he has build-up speed. He might be a bench player, but I don’t see a starter in Buford at all really.

All of this is my opinion

no. 33 Jon Diebler (Sr.)- I don’t think he’s a NBA prospect. He can score, which could warrant NBDL callups and Euroleague fame.

no. 23 David Lighty (Sr.)- Love him. Tough player. Reminds me of a Bryon Russell type. I think he will be a 2nd round pick who could come in and impact a team.

no. 44 William Buford (Jr.)- Good, not the Ray Allen type dude many expected coming into college. I think he’s a top 20 pick. Would love to see him go to a Utah or San Antonio style team.

True, lemme rephrase my statement then, Craft has shown me nothing so far that he has the tools or potential to be considered an NBA prospect

I think Lighty is going to stick around the league for a while because he is 6’5, defends, can shoot well, and just has a high understanding of the game. And 5 years under Thad Matta helped a lot.

I do agree with that. But alot of Freshmen who arent considered one or two and done don’t. i think he’s gonna end up being a all Big Ten guy by the time he’s done with his career. He’s already playing very well on a national title contending team
