This kid has my vote for the most likely breakout player next year.  Looks like an elite athletic wing and a defensive force.  Ticks so many boxes.  His length and athleticism have intrigued me all year, but now he is displaying an offensive skill set as well.  Looks like a potential lottery pick.  Any thoughts??

For him to get as many minutes as he needs to truly break out, Troy Williams probably needs to turn pro, which I think he will with another good game in the tourney.

Indiana’s lineup for next year should include G Robert Johnson G Curtis Jones G/F Juwan Morgan F OG Anunoby F Colin Hartman F/C De’Ron Davis and maybe F/C Thomas Bryant, depending on his choices this summer. If Bryant doesn’t return, OG would probably play a lot at 4, which would be a matchup nightmare for other teams defensively.

The trend for Indiana’s wing prospects the last few years (Oladipo and Williams) is to come back after their Freshman year with an improved ball handling ability, and after their Sophomore year with an improved outside shot. OG’s shot is better now than either Vic or Troy had at any time at IU. He does get a little loose with the ball at times (last play vs Michigan in the B10 tourney), so a similar improvement would serve him well at the next level.

The only real weakness I see in him is at the FT line (51.3%). There are some mental lapses on defense from time to time, and his conditioning may not be top notch just yet, but he is a Freshman. He could also find his teammates a little better.

Physically, he has everything you want in an NBA wing. A good, maybe not great athlete, with long arms. His work ethic will determine if he going to be good enough to be “ready” next year, or if he takes another year. I don’t see him lasting until his Senior year.

is currently out with a knee injury. IU has kept the info on what it was specifically pretty close to the vest, but I have heard meniscus.

His father has denied rumors of his transferring. My gut says 55% he stays, 45% he goes.

He’s got room to improve on offense but he’s starting to get much better on that end and NBA scouts will love him for athleticism and defense and has a lot of room to improve. In a couple of years if he continue’s to develop and can see him getting drafted.
