I don’t know if anyone posted something about this but last night when Kendrick Perkins got that second technical foul……. Come on does anyone on this stie diagree on that like I do? That shouldn’t have been a T and like Magic said, the referees shouldn’t decide the game, the players should. IMO he shouldn’t have gotten ejected and now that it happend, he shuldn’t be suspended the next game.

Referees make calls instantly, reacting to what they see without the benefit of replay. They don’t have time to think whether or not Perkins had an earlier Technical Foul.

On the TV replay it didn’t look too bad, but you don’t know what Perkins said. In addition, he’s a guy who constantly complains and acts out when calls go against him.

More importantly, I’m tired of seeing players react like spoiled teenage brats when a call doesn’t go their way. It’s time for them to act like men, realize officials make mistakes just like them, and move on like a responsible adult.

You can read his lips, he yells, “that’s f*cking bullsh*t man!” Regardless of whether he is directing it at the ref or the camera, you yell something like that loud enough and you’re pretty much guaranteed a T.

rtbt, I agree with you in a sense, but the fouls these refs are calling are absolutely TERRIBLE. For example, that hustle play Rajon Rondo did on Jason Williams was good and all, except for the fact it was a travel. I mean, the man was spread out on the floor, and got right back up. Dudes at the Y would call me on that, and they can’t be better refs than the NBA one.

    Another example here:

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vaZIAXJJDKQ

This is absolutely shameful. I mean, Joey Crawford is supposed to be one of the most respected refs, but come on man. You can’t tell me if something like that was called on you, you wouldn’t try to talk some sense to the ref.

If it’s the regular season, then yes, maybe players should be quiet and take the call. The thing is, this is the PLAYOFFS. This is the time where the games count the most, and if some bad calls are what make a loss for a team that worked their asses off to get there, then that’s just not right. The commentator said it best himself in the video “That cannot be a play off foul” or something. All this bad officiating is starting to make it seem like something is going on in the background us fans don’t know about…

lol yeah i agree it shouldnt have been a technical, but perkins does complain and argue a lot so i think he sort of deserved it, he needs to calm down a bit lol but its the playoffs now so the 2nd T shud be revoked and he should not be suspended for the next game, during regular season that wud definetely be a T

Regular season or Play-offs, that’s nothing. Crawford should get fired. He power trips every time he goes near a whistle.

Has honestly gone too far. I mean, he obviously is well liked by the league, maybe even by his peers and maybe even by certain players, but it just seems like he picks favorites. I mean, can he at least have to consult someone before giving out T’s? Oh, he can’t? Well, see ya later Joey, been nice.

Joey Crawford isn’t a good example of a professional referee. If I remember correctly, he was the guy who disgraced himself during one of San Antonio’s playoff games and was suspended big time. I was surprised when the NBA gave him his job back.

And yes, the officials missed Rondo traveling on more than one occasion. One time it was so blatant I almost laughed. You definitely know it’s traveling when Jeff Van Gundy says it isn’t.

Keep this in mind. Guys like Kendrick Perkins bump players and throws elbows almost every time down court. Most of the time he gets away with it and I don’t see him complain when his bumping and elbow throwing aren’t called. However, when a foul is actually called on Perkins, he acts out like a middle school teenager. I think Doc Rivers should straighten him out and make him act like a man. The same is true with R. Wallace.

NBA Officials have one of the toughest jobs in sports. Yes they make their fair share of mistakes, like missing Rondo travel, but most of the time they make the right call. If you’re a player, you should just accept mistakes like a man and play the game.

Let me also throw this in. Other than Joey Crawford, I never met an official who wasn’t willing to talk with any player about a call, as long as it’s done with respect. Acting out like a spoiled brat does not qualify as respect.

according to John Hollinger(his chat), the league rescinded Perkins SECOND technical foul and upgraded Pierce’s foul on J.J. Reddick to a flagrant. That’s good news for a Boston Celtics fan because we now know he will not be suspended and like rtbt said, it is annyoing to see players complain a lot but this game runs with emotions and a refs job is one of the toughest jobs and mistakes always happen. It’s only normal but it’s great to see the league take time to look over there mistakes.

    DWadeBIW, thanks.

I’m tired of seeing grown men act like spoiled teen aged brats when a call doesn’t go their way.

I like it when League Management reviews calls via replay in the calm of an office environment. Without the emotions of the crowd screaming, they can usually reach the goal getting it right after the fact.

Anyone who criticizes officials regularly should give it a try and they’ll quickly learn how incredibly tough it is.
