The8thDeadlySinParticipantDoes anyone else think that Perkins hurts the Thunder?? I mean I know he is a defender and all but he doenst contribute much more than Nick Collison…
0 - Posted on: Thu, 02/09/2012 - 5:58pm #634128
KayjayParticipantHe actually does hurt them.

Future_Scoutthanks for starting the thread, i didn’t want to be annoying and start another game thread! and yes they are offensively weaker with perkins than with collison.

Tongue-Out-Like-23ParticipantDefensively, he’s a guy that can single-handedly defend other bigs like Howard, Bynum, MGasol, and Hibbert. That’s where his value is, there is no need to double-team when you have a guy like Perkins. Offensively, yes he hurts them. Especially when they run with Westbrook-Sefo-Durant-Ibaka-Perkins. That leaves 90% of the scoring load on two players while the other three have no offense.
I still believe they need to pick up a stretch 4-5 off the bench. A guy like Ryan Anderson would be a huge piece for them.
As for this game, DeMarcus Cousins has so much potential, this guy could be the next big thing, his footwork is great, his jump-shot has really improved. He’s strong, athletic, and big. He’s also an underrated passer and the reason he’s underrated is because he rarely passes the ball. He’s a dark-hole on offense. His attitude and IQ are questionable. I really hope he and Tyreke can co-exist in Sacramento, he could be their next Chris Webber or LaMarcus Aldridge.

The8thDeadlySinParticipantIMO, they should try to get a guy like Wilson Chandler as a FA.. Probably dont have the money though..

Memphis MadnessParticipantGood thread. Perkins helps out on denfense and in toughness and leadership. Not a big shot
blocker but he can defend and put a body on anyone. He also helps out on the boards. He kind
of reminds me of Bill Cartwright in this way. Now if Perkins had Cartwright’s mid-range jumper then he
would be a lot more effective. As it stands the OKC bigs don’t score enough which puts too much pressure
on their Big Three. But, I do think that the Thunder’s size inside put them over the top against the Grizzlies
in last year’s playoffs.I think the Thunder need to start Harden. In the playoffs you need three scorers. Plus, Harden is their best facilitator on
offense. If Durant is the new Jordan then Harden is the new Pippen. Westbrook is a wildcard and a terror on offense just as
Dennis Rodman was an X factor and a rebounding/defensive menace on the Bulls’ dynasty. I think that the Thunder
need a Toni Kukoc type who can score, rebound, and do some other things off the bench. I thought
that Shane Battier would have been a good pickup, but he went to Miami. He can defend wing players, hit 3’s, score 8-10 off
the bench, and help out on the boards. I think the Thunder are still one of the top contenders for a title but one more key
addition could really put them over the top.0 - Posted on: Thu, 02/09/2012 - 6:34pm #634213
The8thDeadlySinParticipantI love Isaiah Thomas… Love his style and he seems so cocky.. Love that..
Also, Perk doenst rebound that much.. He just pushes people around, complians about fouls, and he looks really mean… LoL.
Kidding of course.. However, I think he would be beter with a PF like Dirk or Amare.. Ibaka isnt the best PF for him..

0 - Posted on: Thu, 02/09/2012 - 6:36pm #634212
KDThunder35ParticipantTOL23…you hit everything on the head with that. Thunder do need a good stretch 4/5 ala Anderson, to help leave a better driving lane for Westbrook/Harden. As well as Perkins does bring toughness, but handicaps them on offense in the starting 5 when he is out there with Ibaka and Sef.

Malik-UniversalParticipantstill shaking my darn head as to why DMC plays on the perimeter….
its seriously annoying and blantly obvious hes a knucklehead
it reminds me of when happy from happy gilmore told the golf ball if it was to good for its home
same here…. is DMC to good for the post???
0 - Posted on: Thu, 02/09/2012 - 7:00pm #634242
The8thDeadlySinParticipantSimple answer, yes.. At least in his mind…
What did it do to his mentality when his old head coach (Whestpaul) punished him but then was fired.. Now, he thinks that the organization is more behind him than any coach… They probably created a monster in DMC…
0 - Posted on: Thu, 02/09/2012 - 7:19pm #634263
The8thDeadlySinParticipantWhy doesnt Tyler Honeycutt get any run?? Is Donte Greene really better than him?? Franciso Garcia too?? That sucks.. I thought he would be good early…
0 - Posted on: Thu, 02/09/2012 - 7:20pm #634260
KayjayParticipantEverybody wants to bash Cousins, but no one ever gives him credit. He’s by far the most consistent king, and if weren’t for Evans we’d be calling him the best King on the floor. He averages a double double this season, and plays lesser minutes than the eleven others that average double doubles. Give credit where credit is due.
0 - Posted on: Thu, 02/09/2012 - 7:24pm #634266
Malik-UniversalParticipantDMC would be the best king if he didnt think he was god with the bball
and how good can tyreke be with a jumper

0 - Posted on: Thu, 02/09/2012 - 7:43pm #634292
KayjayParticipantIts hard to get Honeycutt minutes over guys that atleast you already know what you’re going to get off them. I think Honeycutt is an instant upgrade. But its better the devil you do know, then the devil you don’t know.
0 - Posted on: Thu, 02/09/2012 - 7:44pm #634296
The8thDeadlySinParticipantSo why dont they let him show off in the D-League.. Thats what its there for..

KayjayParticipantIs a cancer to my Kings. I love his shooting, but thats all he does.
0 - Posted on: Thu, 02/09/2012 - 7:58pm #634308
KayjayParticipantI don’t know why they called him up so fast. Maybe Smart figured he might give him a shot, who knows?

JNixonParticipantI swear I love Jimmer Fredette. I just think his game is amazing. Exciting to watch
0 - Posted on: Thu, 02/09/2012 - 8:06pm #634323
The8thDeadlySinParticipantBecause most people dont watch games, they just see box scores..
0 - Posted on: Thu, 02/09/2012 - 8:06pm #634320
KayjayParticipantHe’s a knucklehead alright, but he has passion for the game. And unlike Eddy Curry and Derrick Coleman he is determined to get better. He may not be a 20 10 guy, but he sure in the hell is a double double machine and may be on his way to stardom.
0 - Posted on: Thu, 02/09/2012 - 8:07pm #634322
Demarcus OnealParticipantWhy is everyone so shocked at the way Cousins is playing, he has been doing this for a better part of the season now, especially once that joke of a coach Westphal was fired.
0 - Posted on: Thu, 02/09/2012 - 8:10pm #634326
Future_Scoutif every1 played with the emotion dmc is playing tonight the nba would be 2x funner to watch

The8thDeadlySinParticipantDMC said
"Imma give this kind of effert every night from now on"
If he does, he would jump to being the 4th best PF in the league behind Griffin, Aldridge, and Love…
0 - Posted on: Thu, 02/09/2012 - 8:20pm #634342
TC_42ParticipantBarkley is so right about the Thunder. Their half court is garbage. They need a Paul Millsap or something… not a stretch 4… a 4 with a post move.
0 - Posted on: Thu, 02/09/2012 - 8:21pm #634343
Tongue-Out-Like-23ParticipantI swear, everytime Cousins is nationally interviewed, they try to make him look like an idiot and say something negative about him.
i.e. Last year’s Rookie Challenge and now this
He just won and you’re going to question his consistency and passion?
0 - Posted on: Thu, 02/09/2012 - 8:32pm #634360
KayjayParticipantActually a center. Which is why his defense has improved greatly. Still leaves ALOT to be desired, but he’s blocking shots now.
0 - Posted on: Thu, 02/09/2012 - 8:37pm #634362
BasketBalAllanParticipantI am dissapointed they did not make shaq eat his words for saying that there was no way the thunder would not win.
0 - Posted on: Thu, 02/09/2012 - 9:19pm #634398
TruettParticipantWas all the way up Cousins A_ _ by the end of the game! The Kid played well… 3 fouls on Ibaka in the 4th? That was the winning moment. If that game went to overtime the Kings still win with Ibaka fouled out… no way they can stop Tyreke. It was their night. Tyreke is starting to look like he did in his rookie year… so clever with the ball.

Memphis MadnessParticipantI think the Thunder are kinda like the Bulls in that both teams are built
around an MVP candidate with some solid supporting players and good,
scrappy benches but they are built more for the regular season. Deng is more
of a third option and Booz doesn’t get it done in the playoffs. The Thunder have only 3
scorers and lack inside scorers and a 6th man if they move Harden to the starting
lineup (and they should). The Heat are built for the playoffs with two superstars, a very good power forward, and some depth.
I actually like the Heat’s bench of Battier, Haslem, Cole, Mike Miller, and James Jones. I think their bench
is just as good or if not better than the Bulls or Thunders. Chalmers can put some points on the board and bit big
shots while Joel Anthony is basically a slimmer version of Kendrick Perkins.0 - Posted on: Fri, 02/10/2012 - 8:15am #634566
Future_Scoutexept joel anthony is way more of a weak side defender while perkings is not. joel gets eaten alive by good post player while perkings does not
