laarethekingsParticipantChris Bosh? Greg Monroe? Al Horford?

Lebron’s HairlineParticipantI say somewhere between al horford-chris bosh. His floor is probably a drew Gooden type player.

tbest23ParticipantThis cat has Laphonso Ellis written all over him. That’s a pretty good thing considering he was fairly solid for a dozen years or so.

raybeasParticipantDirk at 19?
Naw, not really. Reef is a pretty good comparison. I think Terrance Jones is a good floor for him, but at 19, he can get a lot better. Maybe up to a Lamarcus Aldridge level.

imAboutDatActionParticipanthis ceiling is Chris Bosh.
has similar physical tools and similari skill set.
i’d actually really consider taking him over Randle. his two way ceiling is much highers imo.

rileymcshea3ParticipantI really like Randle and still do but Vonleh is finding ways to make me think he will be the better NBA player as the College basketball season keeps going. Really like the Bosh comparison being a good height and length for the Power Forward position with rebounding and skills. Has nice build and seems like he will be able to fill out easily. In a way he even reminds me of Lamarcus Aldridge, but Bosh put up the same numbers in Toronto as Aldridge is now. Both great players to become and look to be his ceiling in the future.

BiggysmallsParticipantNo doubt I would take him over Randle.
I wouldn’t be surprised if Randle checked in at 6’8 with a 6’10 wingspan where as Vonleh measures out just shy of 6’10 with a 7’2 wingspan. Vonleh looks a lot more smooth athletically and I think his upside is higher.
He has a better mid range game and looks more mobile, which is valuable when it comes to pick n roll 4 men.
Randle is the better college player because he is stronger right now and really aggressive on the glass. But Vonleh is a really good rebounder in his own right. I don’t think Indiana utilizes him all that well, and it kinda seems like Crean is trying to limit his exposure on the off chance that his stock goes down.
I’m not a huge fan of Randle’s game as it translates to the NBA game. Its hard to compare somebody to Zach Randolph because he is not a common kind of player nowadays and he’s been really good for a long time. Randle plays like Randolph, but I doubt he will be as effective. And a less effective version of Zach Randolph isn’t a great player. I’d take Randolph somewhere in the 5-8 range. Vonleh could go 4 if its the right team.

Mr. HookShotParticipantI really hope that the defense provided by Vonleh also translates to the NBA (as opposed to Bosh’s defense (avg. 2.2 blocks in college), to whom he is compared quite a lot). Vonleh’s shooting a nice percentage from the foul line, which is an important indication he can shoot and thus stay on the floor during crunch time.

Meditated StatesParticipantWont happen in the L. Watch how the whole squad rushes Randle when he touches the ball. Congested lane in college. I take Randle over Vonleh and I like Vonleh. He finishes well with both hands and is under utilized at Indiana.

jwall1ParticipantI think the Chris Bosh ceiling is pretty accurate. Would not take him over Randle simply because Randle has superstar offensive talent, but taking him at around 7 or 8 seems reasonable. Randle is putting up over 15 ppg shooting 50+% while being triple teamed, so it should be interesting to see how he does in the NBA where he wont be triple teamed.

JoeWolf1Maybe I’m oversold on his face up game, but I think his ceiling is LaMarcus Aldridge. At 6’10" 240 lbs with a 7’3" wingspan, he has that kind of size, and although his back to the basket game is a ways off, he’s got a nice foundation facing up. LA came out after 2 years, but IMO he had Noah had a lot of similarities as Frosh. He’s bigger than Bosh ( which I hear a lot ) so I think he’ll develop differently because he won’t have to rely as much on being quick to overcome a lack of strength.

Land of GrantParticipantI don’t like the Bosh comparison personally because Vonleh seems like more of an inside type player, although I didn’t watch Bosh in college. I really can’t think of a comp though. Maybe a much better Udonis Haslem? Taj Gibson?

imAboutDatActionParticipantVonleh has the ability to strecth the floor, he can go both in and outside. he’s not polished enough down low, but wiht his length and size, he can score around the basket.
he jus doesnt get enough touches in Indiana, really not a good situation for him to really blossom.
Bosh seems like a good comparison.

HitsterParticipantMost of the comparisons are fair but is there a more defensive minded comparison anyone can think of as Aran compares him to Jamal Mashburn who was more an SF whilst another site lists Noah V as a PF/C.
He is the sort of guy who I could see a team taking a chance on at 4 in the draft if they wanted a frontcourt option given his age, upside and length. That isn’t to say he will go as high as 4, I don’t see him breaking up the top 3 but I could see a team perhaps taking a chance on him more than Randle but that is just IMO.
At the moment I’d say that Noah’s draft position is 4 to 7, I would be shocked if he fell outside the top 10.
