Mr.Knick 32ParticipantBefore anyone says it: It’s not a steal.
It’s a solid contract. I think he got maybe 5-10 mil more (but who isin’t these days?) and I think Chicago had to do it to keep him.

joecheck88Participanti honestly think they overpaid. but they were in a tough spot with boozer hurt and didnt want this looming over their season with higher expectations this year. 12 mil a year for a guy with no offense is tough. imo, he needs to be a 15ppg 12rpg and 2.3bpg guy to earn that contract, which he isnt far but i dont know how much better he can get offensively.

ChrischiParticipantPeople seem to forget that Noah averaged 12,5 12,5 and 2,5 before he got injured. And he has a developing offensive game (jumper). I think it is a good deal nowadays. Other teams pay the same money for two role players/bench warmers.

PaulsJayhawksParticipantAnd noah has it. money well spent.

durantula83ParticipantIndeed money well spent if he can stay healthy. With the contracts Chandler, Okafor and Haywood have, then this seems absolutely right. There are only a few guys in the NBA that play with the intensity of Noah, he has a great winning attitude.

xavier328ParticipantAl Horford is really happy right now cant be good news for the hawks…he’s going want a little more than Noah

doubledribblerParticipantDefinitely not a steal, but compared to the contracts of other centers it is a fair deal, especially when you consider the guy is the teams leader and going to be the key to their coaches defense. If the Bulls didn’t pay him someone else would have. I think he definitely wanted to stay and Chicago wanted to keep him, but I think it would have been easier for him to try to bolt if they waited in the offseason. The things with teams over the cap (and I know the Bulls aren’t yet, but they will be next year no matter what) is that you have to pay more for your own guys sometimes. Houston did it this year with Lowry and Scola. You don’t have as much room to maneuver if you don’t and worse case you can at least have the guy as a trade asset for the future.
Trinajoe…the numbers that you listed for a center his age would probably get him really close to the max. Brendan Haywood just got 10 million a year and he’s old and does nothing particularly well. It’s sad that centers are no longer what they used to be. I am really curious to see how much and how long of a contract Greg Oden gets. I was never one of those Oden should go number 1 people, but if a team can get him to a reasonable deal he is worth the risk as long as he checks out well by a medical staff.

mj23mj23besteverParticipantvery happy to see this get done and it not loom noah is the defensive anchor to this team and u dont find many if any players who bring more hustle and intensity to a team then noah

joecheck88Participanti think most centers are overpaid, lol. because most of them are defensive players that can rebound and block shots but dont do anything else. they have set franchises back alot of times, like jerome james, sam dalembert, and andris biedrins. i just wish gms would be more realistic about their worth. noah is an extremely fair deal considering the guys i just mentioned but in retrospect he would have gotten like 8 or 9 if i was the gm. and the numbers i put for him are similar to horfords this year, do you think he is worth the max? i dont, he should be around 10 or 11 mil a year. i really like noah and his passion, i just dont like giving my money to skinny offensively challenged big men. i give good money to special talents, like i wouldnt have given ben gordon 11 mil a year. but i guess the money has to go somewhere though.
my point is, compared to other centers it is a very good deal, i just dont like these guys getting their money to rebound and block shots and nothing else. i mean lebron is only going to be making 5mil more a year and he is the best player in the game. i just hope noah doesnt flame out like the other centers i mentioned.

The Splash DocParticipant12mil per wow Noah worked hard and cashed in. Rose will probally get 5/85mil and then I think Chicago will just build on the team with draft picks and MLE’s.
As for Horford he will ask for 5/75mil or 80mil Atlanta will have a hard time givng him that considering Joe Johnson just got 6/126mil.
Look for Horford to be in FA next year with deals coming from teams like New Jersey, OKC, Indiana, and Houston.

The Scare Crow ReturnsParticipantThe Hawks better something because taht would be worse then Joe Leaving this summer because Horford is younger and a stud Pf…At least they still had Crawford and Marvin Williams if Joe left…If Al leaves they lose their whole inside Game…
