Krypt GussParticipantThey made a great move last night, landing Jrue Holiday. I’m a Noel fan, but having both Davis and Noel in the paint would not have been a good idea. They weigh a combined 300lbs. (obviously exaggerating)
With that said, should they be trying to move Vasquez? I believe he can play the 2 and the back-up 1. Albeit he can’t defend either position…
Maybe they should shop around Gordon. He never wanted to be there in the first place. NO still needs a wing and a starting center. Lopez doesn’t convince me. Thoughts?

B-ball fanParticipantI think it might be a good idea to try to trade Vasquez now, since his trade value will never be higher. He has a cheap expiring contract and is coming off a big year. Perhaps they can get a young SF in exchange for him.
I think they are stuck with Gordon. If he can get healthy and produce like he did with the Clippers, than he will be worth his contract, but that seems unlikely given his history and his poor production last season.
I do like what the Pelicans are doing right now. They have a nice four player core of Holiday, Gordon, Anderson, and Davis. If they are able to find a fairly inexpensive SF, they become a contender in a couple years. Anthony Davis’ growth is really the key.

Krypt GussParticipantI completely agree with you there. I hope he can become a reliable go-to guy in the pick-and-roll game. His jumpshot looked surprisingly good his rookie year. In short spurts, at least.

lockdownDI wanted to see a Davis/ Nerlens tandem for years to come.
I was pretty bummed out the trade happened, but without a doubt NO did well.
There are a couple teams who have nice growing talent, and NO just became one of them.
The addition of an All Star PG in Jrue Holiday, should entice Gordon in playing there.
I would keep Vazquez or trade for someone young or picks, and try to land a nice piece next year like Willie Cauley Stein or something…0 - Posted on: Fri, 06/28/2013 - 2:42am #808389

HitsterParticipantWhen Noel was first drafted by NOP, I thought wow block city here we come and maybe they will look to move Lopez. But the Holiday move was a bit of a shock, NOP get an All Star and suddenly like a potential play off team with a lot of upside mainly around Davis.
Philly have moved their best player but have got Noel and MCW in the draft, they have also acquired a top 5 protected pick next year from NOP so they could be double handed in next year’s draft and have at worse got back one of the first rounders they traded away.
With Philly a lot will depend on injuries as a fit frontcourt of Bynum and Noel looks interesting on paper and Noel having the 280 odd lbs Bynum alongside him fills a lot of worries about Noel’s lak of bulk.

Ny2daDeathOFmeParticipanti dont think they’ll resign him. Think about it they just traded their best player for a injured raw big man. It looks like they’re trynna tank/suck this year so they can get wiggins or parker.

frogmanParticipantPlease explain how Bynum being 280 lbs positively affects Noel coz I cannot see the theory behind that.

Jazz_ItalyParticipantHoliday is an elite PG, Vasquez too is a really good 1, but i can’t see them play the same time
i think Vasquez has some value, expecially for a team like Dallas or Indiana (Hill is not a true PG and they need more hanballers)
A lot of team will show interest in Vasquez

KHAM83ParticipantI think they are shopping Gordon, and he will be dealt this offseason, but I think he and Holiday would have made a great backcourt. If they go this route, Holiday at the 1, both Rivers/Vazquez at the 2, and Gordon dealt hopefully for a center, rather than a sf. Phoenix would love to have Gordon. so maybe Gordon for Gortat/Dudley (sf)/protected 2014 pick. If they decide to keep Gordon, and I think all he needs to do is be in a wining situation to be happy, then Vazquez to Indy for Mahimmi should be a good deal. Mahimmi is a good center, fits next to Davis, and is cheap.

SamCarlsonParticipantI know big al hasn’t been a winner but he could be a nice 2 year addition to add some bulk and let Davis continue to develop at the 4. Use him as a bridge to the future while you find a more permanent solution. This would at least make them a playoff team and build the fan base back up while they try and get some more studs to help Davis contend
