We all know Anthony Davis has requested to be traded and it sounds like there are only 2 teams he would sign a long term deal with, LAL and NY. With the latest trade history between LAL and NO, this option seems unlikely even with LAL having the #4 pick. It is hard to think that NY can package enough to get Davis but I think NO needs to think about what other pieces they could get by involving a 3rd team. This idea is based on my opinion that Morant will be a level above Barrett in the NBA (I could be wrong). To me, the below trade seems to benefit all teams.

    Trade #1
    NY trades:
    – #3 pick
    – Kevin Knox
    – Alonzo Trier
    – Deandre Jordan

    NO trades:
    – Anthony Davis
    – Stanley Johnson (added to make salaries work)

    Trade #2
    NO Trades:
    – #3 pick
    – Alonzo Trier

    MEM trades:
    #2 pick

NO now has the #1 and #2 picks to take Zion and Morant
MEM has the #3 pick to take Barret

    NO Starting 5
    PG – Ja Morant
    SG – Jrue Holiday
    SF – Kevin Knox
    PF – Zion Williamson
    C – Randle/Jordan

NY Starting 5 (prior to any free agent signings but they will get someone with Davis on the roster)
    PG – Dennis Smith Jr.
    SG – Damyean Dotson
    SF – Mario Hezonja
    PF – Anthony Davis
    C – Mitchel Robinson

    MEM Starting 5
    PG – Mike Conley Jr.
    SG – Avery Bradley/Alonzo Trier
    SF – RJ Barret
    PF – Jaren Jackson Jr.
    C – Jonas Valanciunas

The package that NO receives in the Davis trade is definitely under value but to me that starting 5 justifies the trade.

i think NO would prefer RJ over Morant just to make Zion happy, if he’s getting his buddy with him it totally change his disappointment coming to NO…

Also the griz said they would rather have morant than barrett so i Don’t think the griz would even be involved in this trade

DeAndre Jordan is a free agent so he can’t be traded, unless it’s a sign and trade which I doubt he’d agree to. Also there is no way Alonzo Trier is enough to move from 3 to 2 especially since it’s been reported that Memphis prefers Morant to RJ.

I don’t understand why people think these New York and Lakers packages out there are any good. Particularly the Lakers ones. The Lakers offered their whole squad bar Lebron and the Pelicans said no.. and for good reason! That squad hasn’t made the playoffs, not even WITH Lebron, and Ingram has blood clots!

This New York package is also awful. Really, #3, unproven Kevin Knox, undrafted Alonzo Trier and unwanted DeAndre Jordan? Jordan can’t even be added to a trade.

Surely there’s better packages out there. They can try to get back more of a star in a package eg. Simmons or DeRozan, or go for a better combination of assets, eg. Harris, Barton, Porter Jnr, Millsap or Markannen, WCJ, #7 or Tatum, Brown, Rozier or Booker, Jackson or Collins, Huerter, 8 & 10, the list goes on…

I was talking about the same trade on a different thread and got negged as well. Though I just said "assets" instead of actually naming the players involved.

Memphis would have to get more than trier as Morant is the superior player and the superior fit next to JJJ. I think Smith jr and New Yorks 1st in 2020 does it. Or Ntilikina/Trier and a Dallas pick.

Then NO gets Morant, Knox, and a package of picks? If they want to go with a youth movement this would be deadly. Zion and Morant and then use the picks to get shooters around them. Trade Jrue for picks and/or wings. They can be players in free agency this summer and each summer moving forward to find some good vets and just look for 3+D guys to surround two stars.

New york would be cleaning out their war chest quite a bit and can only do it if they know they have some stars coming to join Davis in free agency.

If I’m New York, I would offer Smith Jr., Knox, Ntilikina, Trier, 3rd Pick (probably Barrett), Knicks 2020 pick and Dallas 2021 pick.

    Is that enough?
