khaled_a_dParticipantJonathan Givony and Mike Schmitz from draftexpress which is widely known here as the “other site” will be joining ESPN, there will be no further updates posted on draft express.
I don’t like that tbh, but anyway, I really hope nbadraft.net will step up even more as people will need a replacement for free draft content.0 - Posted on: Sat, 07/22/2017 - 4:44am #1104436
ChrispyParticipantI know Jon gets a lot of hate (don´t know why), but DX was a great source for info and reference. Jon is also a really, really nice guy. I used to run into him a lot when I still lived in the states. I would see him at tournaments and camps and we would always talk shop. He always was curious about who I was watching and why, and would give me the heads up on under the radar guys at the camps to follow. The guy lives and breathes scouting, which is why so many teams from so many leagues around the world view him as an asset. I am happy for him and Mike to get the opportunity at ESPN, but am really sad that DX won’t be around any more.

HitsterParticipantI posted on there from 2005 to 2010 when their forum dried up, Jonathan did some really good analysis, so if site closes it will be sad. But great news for him and Mike getting the ESPN gig.

Anton123ParticipantVery sad, already so many events are going on without enough coverage. The FIBA junior tournaments have some very interesting NBA prospects and no sites are analyzing their play, the high school Summer circuit could be covered more too. This is what Draftexpress did, constant coverage of all events with all the measurements and commentary. You could argue that they were biased, but they sure were worth a read.
NBAdraft.net doesn’t ever tell me something I don’t already know. The articles here provide valuable insight like "Kyle Kuzma exceeded expectations in the Summer league" and "Malik Monk is a better scorer than Jonathan Isaac"

OhCanada-ParticipantDoesnt this just mean they will be publishing the same articles on ESPN. The content has just moved to a different group. However ESPN really waters down there content and is very superstar/big city biased.

Bankroll PJParticipantI can see many of these articles being Insider only articles though smh

wonzi_bellsParticipantDraftexpress was a site that I used daily and let me get the first scoop on really early prospects since they’ll have writes-up on prospects as early as 15 years old. They were a nice counter balance to ESPN. I doubt we’re going to get all the consistent draft coverage year-round from them as we did with Draftexpress. And the biggest reason I went on there so much was the measurement database they had. You couldn’t find something like that anywhere on the internet. I would’ve just been fine if ESPN bought the rights to the website and let them opperate on their own, now they’re going to be limited to click-worthy content.

XYRYXParticipantWoj and now ‘the others’ also joining ESPN…
I am happy for them as they now join the so called elite and self proclaimed elite but a sad day for many of us and for sure one of the best pages to surf the draft not named this forum. ESPN is trash imo since the are ‘creating’ news not releasing anymore not to name the yellow press and sources told us a la Kyrie right now.
ESPN is strongly buying the competition and I don’t like it but maybe they provide more quality contend not insider related who knows.

CoachWyersParticipantSucks the first things released by the old DX crew on ESPN is insider as I am sure all their stuff will be. As I will never pay for news looks like I will no longer be using their insight.

JordanC20ParticipantThis has always been my go to site for the NBA draft any way.

ChoppyParticipantI’ll be pissed if the video breakdowns by Mike Schmitz go insider. I don’t pay for content so I’ll miss out on those scouting videos. I reckon they’re brilliant.
