    DNP-CD

Am i missing something? I thought the guy had a pretty good preseason and there were high hopes for him in DC this year. I know things are crowded on the wings but still, is he nursing an injury or did i miss something? Any help would be appreciated, I was shocked when saw this when looking at the box score this morning.

I wondered the same thing myself, but i watched most of this game. Arenas, Miller, and Foye were on point, or better said they looked solid for opening night. I was shocked as well not to see Nick Young enter the game. Caron obviously got his minutes too. i was shocked to see Deshawn Stevenson get 18 minutes though with Nick Young not getting any. other than . Stevenson also had (-1) production while on the court. he didnt score, had 5 boards, 1 steal, and 3 assists. Foye (+16) / Miller (+12) you can see why they were on the court as much as they were.

    Side Note:

Was anyone else very impressed with Blatche most specifically in the first half? I walked away very impressed.

I didnt see any of the game as I was away from the TV all night, but players just seem to play better for Flip. It didnt surprise me at all to see Blatche come out and play well last night. Do I expect him to come out and get 20 every night? Definitely not, especially when Jamison gets back but Flip just seems to get the most out of his guys when he joins a new team. They might struggle come post season but he seems to get the most out of them during the regular season as was evident during his time with the Pistons.

I’m not really shocked. The team is loaded at guard. I think the other two guys are just better overall and Stevenson is a better defender than Young, even though Young is better overall, they have plenty of scorers there. I know that no one has said anything about him getting traded, but before someone does, it’s not likely to happen. Miller is a free agent after this year, meaning Foye or Young (more likely Young) would slide into his spot. Plus if anyone gets injured they will need the depth.

They do have alot of firepower at SG, and Im not suprised that Foye and Miller played more but Deshawn Stevenson didn’t deserve the minutes he got over Young as he looked very bad in the offeseason from what I saw, and even though he’s a good defender, he isn’t the stopper he seems to think he is. I think Young should get traded to Charlotte or the Knicks where he would what do what he does best and score the ball.

too good of player to be sitting his potential ass on the bench while playing that cracked head looking peeshawn steventson. Sit old cracky play young, only play deshawn when you need tough player.

young isnt as good as some people seem to think obviously..he does have talent but i dont think star talent….thats why offseason is offseason..you can play bad but when regular seaon starts and you bust someones azz in practice you tend to get more time or if you make less mistakes as well then you are gonn aget more time…coaches put guys in thats gonna help them win so if they have abunch of scorers they are gonna want some hustlers and or defenders to play some of the other minutes. young should start focusing on becomming a better defender since hes not a better scorer then the scorers that they already have…find that nitch thats gonna get him more minutes..thats how d.jones(defense) for denver, the other d.jones for miami(shooting), bruce bowen (defense)got there minutes

It kind of suprised me that Young didn’t play, but I realized why after watching the game. Young would have not been more efficient than Miller or Foye, even though might have scored more points- it would have taken him more shots, while commiting more turnovers. Stevenson may not have scored, but he played good defense and had a few very nice passes. I knew Blatche was going to have a good game. I think this will be his breakout year. Young is very very one dimensional right now and he simply is not needed by the Wizards right now. Another thing I thought is that the Wizards looked better without Antawn Jamison playing. I hink he provides excellent leadership, but I don’t think the Wizards can make a run with him playing big minutes because he is too much of a defensive liability.

Blatche is ready to break out..he has such a versatile and interesting offense package. But will he defend and post up? That’s why I dont know if he will just yet. But he is quite a talent on offense.

wow ..yeah they looked goo dwith out jamesion but lets not take it so far to say they are better without him..hes not the best defender but he is better on defense then blanchate..matter of fact he is better all around..i know he played well but we are talking about a allstar who play very good every year and is/was a allstar..lets not take it too far…like how im up on bynum..i wont take it as far as saying he should take gasol spot or they are better without gasol because thats just not true..same case with jamason

I’ve never said Nick was gonna be a star, but there is no question he should be playing somewhere. He can create and knock donw shots.

The reason Young never gets that many minutes is his shot selection, sure he makes alot of shots but it’s almost like he’s never seen a shot he doesn’t like haha I agree with all of you that hes got a load of potential but why risk bringing him into the game taking bad shots when the team is on a roll.
