My top 5 Prospects for this tears NFL Draft

    5. Robert Quinn – UNC DE  He is a great effort guy who is a tad undersized but has amazing athletic ability with a tremendous first step and is a very good tackler. May be a liability in the run game but he has great upside because he is a great pass rusher.

    4. Da’Quan Bowers – Clemson DE  Bowers is exceptional gifted on the defensive line. He is very fast for his size and his size is great (6’4 280). He is very powerful although he doesn’t always wrap up when tackling. He can play anywhere on the defensive line, including DT in a 3-4 or dropping back into coverage at times on the outside in a 3-4. The most coveted DE prospect since Mario Williams.

    3. Patrick Peterson – LSU CB  He is an explosive playmaker as a DB and a returner. A top notch athlete. Has very good size for a CB and great speed and ability to turn his hips and cut. Is better in man coverage (especially in press) then he is in zone. He is fantastic at making a play on the ball when it’s in the air. When in run support he does a great job of warpping up when he tackles and shows very good strength for his position.

    2. AJ Green – Georgia WR  Green has the ability to be an incredible pro WR. He has fantastic size (6’4 210) and shows fantastic hands. He runs great routes, often manipulating DB’s to gain extra separation before a cut and when the ball is in the air he will go get it due to his hands and body control. He is not afraid to run routes into the heart of a defense. He isn’t very agile but not many 6’4 WR’s are.

    1. Andrew Luck – Stanford QB  Luck is without a doubt the top prospect in the class. To start off he has good size with a nice frame and more then enough speed for an NFL QB. He is a tremendous worker who really understands the game and is always poised. He goes through his reads very well for such a young QB and has an excellent arm. His arm strength is great-elite and his accuracy is in the same category. He can make any throw you could ever ask for. His best trait might be his ‘pocket sense’ as he avoids the rush to buy extra time for himself, which is one of the best traits to have as a QB. Will be the 1st pick in the Draft barring something drastic.

    Honorable Mention:

DT Marcell Dareus – Alabama/Nick Fairley – Auburn

CB Janoris Jenkins – Florida /Prince Amukamara – Nebraska

QB Ryan Mallett – Arkansas /Cameron Newton – Auburn

    Julio Jones – Alabama WR

Ryan Broyles and Von Miller are really the only ones I know about on that list, but they are both very good players. This junior class of WR’s is incredible.

AJ Green, Julio Jones, Broyles (I believe), Greg Childs, Travis Benjamin, Michael Floyd, Devier Posey, DeAndre Brown and the kid from Pitt. I am sure I am forgetting many others but what a class that is.

Find the draft really interesting too, I describe it as blissful ignorance. Basically, you are analyzing what the best case scenario will be for your team and these players. NFL/NBA draft are both really interesting to me and I follow them both pretty closely. Right now, here would be my Mock Draft for the first 20 picks:

    1. Da’Quan Bowers, DE, Carolina Panthers

    2. Nick Fairley, DT, Denver Broncos

    3. Marcell Dareus, DT, Buffalo Bills

    4. Prince Amukamara, CB, Cincinnati Bengals

    5. Patrick Peterson, CB, Arizona Cardinals

    6. AJ Green, WR, Cleveland Browns

    7. Blaine Gabbert, QB, San Francisco 49ers

    8. Robert Quinn, DE, Tennessee Titans

    9. Tyron Smith, OT, Dallas Cowboys

    10. Julio Jones, WR, Washington Redskins

    11. Akeem Ayers, LB, Houston Texans

    12. Cam Newton, QB, Minnesota Vikings

    13. Vonn Miller, LB, Detroit Lions

    14. Derek Sherrod, OT, St. Louis Rams

    15. Mark Ingram, RB, Miami Dolphins

    16. Ryan Mallett, QB, Jacksonville Jaguars

    17. Adrian Clayborn, DE, New England Patriots

    18. Stephen Paea, DT, San Diego Chargers

    19. Aaron Williams, CB, New York Giants

    20. Allen Bailey, DL, Tampa Bay Buccaneers

That of course Andrew Luck stayed, though only slightly. His dad was a former NFL QB, and current AD at West Virginia, so he is fine financially. Not to mention that unlike Jake Locker, Luck has already proven he knows how to win games and run a team, not just that he has incredible athleticism and tools to play QB. Still has to be favorite to go #1, though watch for Matt Barkley to make a case for himself as well. I always thought Locker had immense potential, but he really never lived up to it at UW. He did not have incredible weapons, but his team was honestly not that bad, they should have been better than they were. Also surprised at the return of Blackmon and Broyles, those guys would more than likely have been top 20 or so picks. St. Louis I know would love a WR if they slipped there, but I guess the looming lockout might have been a deciding factor. Also, both could use another solid year and maybe even get their stock higher, though we have seen it is a dangerous game. Will be very interesting to see how it goes down, though I do not know how you could take a QB #1 in this draft if it is not Luck. Forget the fact that they drafted Clausen, as their is no real idea as to if he will be the QB of the future for them, but every QB in this draft has serious questions. I have no idea how good Blaine Gabbert is, but why settle on a QB when their are better players on the board? It will take Carolina a while to rebuild, and they sure can start with getting that defense back on track. There are no O-Lineman worth taking first overall, so I think the choice is between Bowers and Fairley. Both would be good choices, but I have a feeling they go with Bowers, who is in the mold of a Julius Peppers, whom they obviously missed dearly.

Mallett reminds me nothing of Flacco. If anything, Gabbert is the more mobile of the two, so he would be closer to that Flacco mold. Mallett is a pure pocket guy, and I think people are seeing Gabbert as a potential athletic freak with a strong arm. Mallett has had a better college career, but Gabbert has athleticism you can work with, and might be incredibly beneficial in the NFL.
