jaysmith1987ParticipantI’m willing to bet that next year the NBA scouts say how weak a draft it is. I think NBA scouts are the most pathetic. I remember them saying 2008 wasn’t that good and now 2008 is loaded with star players. I was reading an article were it said last years draft was weak. That’s crazy to me Davis lived up to what he was supposed to Damian Lillard surprised and Beal and Waiters gave more than expected and who is questioning Barnes now. Not to mention three years from now when everyone else loans out. The NBA scouts are the worst. If Mahammeds stock drops after averaging 18 a game as a freshman for UCLA then I wonder how Wiggins or parkers stock falls if there season doesn’t match up.

Toronto16ParticipantOh wow I don’t remember anyone saying ’08 was a weak draft (Rose and Beasley were the big prizes), I remember them saying that about ’09 which turned out to be a pretty decent draft. And most of what I hear about the ’14 is good things, so unless all these freshman have disappointing seasons, that shouldn’t change.

LipstickParticipantActually, I remember Chad Ford saying on the BS Report how loaded next year was going to be. Last summer he said it looked awful, but only because there was anticipation that Wiggins, Parker, etc. would have to play 2 years of college ball before declaring.

jaysmith1987ParticipantYou here good things prior last year at this time Shabazz was the next Kobe and Noel was Russell and guys like Tony Mitchell was gonna break out and Every too recruit had a chance. Then draft time and here comes a weak draft. How can anyone call last years draft weak when Davis had a Kg like rookie season 12 and 8 and lillard is already considered a top pg.

LipstickParticipantNot sure who thought Shabazz would be the next Kobe lol same with the Noel comparison you’re talking about. Can you link me to an article that says that because that’s pretty ridiculous. All I heard about this year’s draft was that it would be very weak, which is understandable because the 2012 draft gutted college basketball and overseas prospects aren’t as frequent as last decade.
I think when some say last year’s draft was weak because of the lack of contributions from players outside the top 15 picks. Festus Ezeli was probably the biggest, most consistent contributor from pick 16 and up (though Fournier had a solid run near the end of the season and Sullinger was a nice piece for the first half of the season)
With that said, I haven’t heard anything about that year’s draft being weak. Top-heavy maybe, but not weak.

Mr. 19134ParticipantU nailed by pointing out how all this years elite prospects left early last year. Quincy Miller for one was an elite prospect who was an easy lotto talent but came out too early. Has Q returned for his soph year he would of easily took over the role of go to guy like he did before PJ3 got back, he’d of averaged 20ppg n 8 rpg n combined his elite physical profile to become a top 5 pick. Tony Wroten would of won Pac 12 player of the year and Mo Harkless and Dion Waiters would of dusted Otto Porter in the Big Easr.

phila9012Participantone thing about drafts, now that most of the guys come out before they are ready it takes 3 to 4 years to figure out a draft because the guys need to develop. Because guys like eric bledsoe, avery bradley, and lance stephenson took 3 years to develop and this last year would have been their senior year of college.
