He’s #3 in the class of 2013 right now. He’s 6’10" and he’s from the Boston area.

Ladies and gentleman, Nerlens Noel! http://www.youtube.com/watch

What do you guys think of him in the first couple seconds?

Certaintly too early to tell. He looks extremely athletic and has plenty of length though. He’s obviously a big time NBA prospect!

He is a skinny sophomore in high school, just much taller than everyone else, odds are not the next KG, odds are once everyone catches up to him height wise he wont even be a college star

    ESPN.com says:

    Strengths:
An absolutely incredible shot blocker with uncanny defensive instincts. Noel has good size, length, and quick bounce to go along with precise timing and incredible mobility and agility. He is like a one-man zone with his ability to protect the basket inside the paint but is also a threat to fly out to the perimeter and erase mistakes when the situations warrants. Offensively, he has some rapidly emerging tools. He gets a ton of dunks inside the paint, both from guard’s penetration and the offensive glass, because he can catch and bounce into the dunk so quickly. He can make a jump hook over either shoulder, is a terrific passer from the low post, and has a quick spin move when facing up.

    Weaknesses:
Still lean, Noel needs to continue to fill out his frame in a way in which will keep his mobility intact but allow him to play through contact with more consistently. His offensive game also needs to continue to progress as he can make jump hooks with both feet planted but can rush the shot at times as well. He needs to shoot the ball better from the elbow and short corner and also become a more consistent three-point shooter.

    Bottom Line:
He may already be in the best shot-blocker in the country with absolutely uncanny physical gifts and defensive instincts. With a rapidly expanding offensive game, and solid work ethic and good court demeanor, the sky is absolutely the limit.

But that name of his is worth a lottery pick itself.

You might be the most bias poster ever. Stop comparing everyone to a canadian player (who by the way isn’t even in college yet). It’s very annoying and stupid at the same time. Thanks!

is one of the top AAU programs in the nation year in and year out. Certialy a far cry from a "ymca league." The kid looked very mobile and had good body control, which is not too common for player who grow so tall at such a young age. I don’t know about the KG comparison, but he looks good (from the minute of youtube highlight I saw of him lol).

Actaully Khem Birch is provally the best comparison I can come up with aside from Rakeem Christmas. He is raw, lomg, skinny, athletic, tall and has great defensive instincts. Birch is a very high ranked prospect. Has it ever dawned on you that when I mention Canadian prospects I maybe right…I just care about Canadian prospects much more then American so whenever the oppurtunity arises I speak on them. That doesnt mean I am wrong. Also why is it annoying for you that Im excited about my countries players. Who else did I compare to a Canadian Player? Please name one person I compared to a Canadian and Ill delete my account and youll never have to deal with me.

No Birch isnt in college but he is a class of 2011 prospect with a much better body of  work and set of accomplishments then Noel and Im sure Noel would be extremely happy being compared to Birch.People are saying that Noel is one of the best defensive prospects in highschool, people are saying Birch IS the top defensive prospect in highschool. WHY IS THIS COMPARISON STUPID!

Most of all I was trying to insult the integrity of the original post comparising him to Garnett. You call me stupid for comparing him to Birch but you dont call him stupid for comparing him to Garnett, GET OFF MY DICK PLEAASE!

Definatly not the next KG…… Lets be honest here people, You guys are way to eager to throw around Kevin Garnett Comparisons. Dont believe me??? Remeber when some scrawny highschool kid named kwamy brown was in his senior year in highschool or maybe Tyson Chandler in His senior Year at Dominguez High or hell even The god awful Jerome Moiso guess what they all have in common………….thats right!! They were all compared to a certian soon to be hall of fame Power Forward. I dont know why but if some skinny highschool kid can block a shot and/or Dunk a basketball it almost seems like a natural instinct to some of you stupid f.ucks to compare him to KEVIN GARNETT. Why dont you just go back and look and some of KG highschool highlights They are Readily available at Youtube.com and after watching really think about the huge mistake you just made and yes just in case your wondering this is your conscience speaking dont ignore that little voice. Also this skinny sh.it dunks on a 5’3 asian and is yelling and throwing his arms around like its something to be proud of.

Jesus Omar chill out. This "skinny little sh.it" as you call him is 15 years old. It’s too early to call him the next Garnett, but it’s also way to early to write him off as a bust.

The guy is nearly 4 years off being drafted so he’s got loads of time to fill out and probably grow somemore, the best things he could do would surely be to continue to learn all the fundamentals where there are weaknesses in his game but not try to turn himself into something he is not. They are talking about his 3 point range when he will surely be an inside presence long term.

I will say, I probably was not specific enough on this one. What I meant to say was that Nerlens could become what Kevin Garnett was in high school.

I’m not saying he’s a lock for NBA stardom, but I do think he’ll be a beast at the college level. He’s only 15 years old, he’s 6’10" with an over 7 foot wingspan. He has ENORMOUS hands. Plays at a high level of prep school basketball at the Tilton School in New Hampshire. Not to mention, he can go where ever he wants in college.

    His upside is undeniable.

I like the Khem Birch comparison (By the way, Khem is 2012, not 2011). As someone who’s seen them both in person many times, I’d say they are the two best shot-blockers in high school right now. Birch is a little more explosive, while Nerlens is taller and longer, but both have impeccable timing and can cover a great distance in one second.

Trust me, neither guy is a bum as some of the commenters above mentioned.

I do not know if he is the next KG, but he is certainly one of the more intriguing prospects in HS right now. Sure he is skinny, but he is only 15, 6’10 and he is quite coordinated and athletic for someone his size. I heard from ESPN that no one stood out like he did amongst his peers in his recruiting class, that he was at times dominating summer AAU tournaments. He is a major game changer with his shot blocking and the fact that he is that tall and long just make him that much more intriguing of a prospect. I would say that outside of Andre Drummond, this kid is the most intriguing Center prospect on the HS ranks. I will not say he is the next Garnett, because obviously he needs a great deal more development, not to mention he should more than likely look to establish himself as a post player if possible, but he has tremendous upside and is someone who could very well become a huge draft prospect.
