New mock draft : Barrett at 1, Claxton in the lottery

I saw recently a post talking about picking the best player available whatever the team needs. But in this draft, with NY and Cleveland already set at the PF, don't you feel like drafting Barrett, who has displayed some flashes of all around talent, could not only be the best fit, but maybe become a better player than Zion in the long term.

Talking about long term, in a draft lacking major potential at the PF behind Zion, what are your thoughts concerning Claxton, who is averaging 9.6rbds 3bl and 2as with an improving outside shot (5/6 over the last three games).

Rui no way he's not going top

Rui no way he's not going top 5, too much firepower to give up as a scoring 4, gonna be at least juwan howard type player, but has also a little James worthy in him... Langford is too high, you d'ont draft Alec burks clone in the lottery...

Hachimora reminds me of a

Hachimora reminds me of a younger Kawhi Leonard but I dont think he will get to the superstar level Leonard is at now. That might be for the best though because he still won the MVP averaging 14 and 7 with great defence and percentages.

Sure

Take Barrett...if you think he's going to be the best player. Take Zion...if you think he's going to be the best player...Take Morant...if you think he's going to be the best player...

Talent > Need

Forever.

I'd be comfortable playing

I'd be comfortable playing Williamson at SF, PF or C. Just having the guy on the floor will be a positive. Early in his career I would hope teams dont expect him to be a primary ballhandler. He has shown he can create but as long as he isnt expected to initiate offenses and create for himself and his teammates he should be an absolute impact player.

Having Williamson on your team immediately will make you one of the best transition defence teams in the league. Half the game nowadays is transaition and to have a defensive playmaker in transition is extremely rare and will make you competitive from the jump. At this point I dont think you can pass that up.

It shouldn't surprise you

It shouldn't surprise you that some teams will select Zion even if they don't think he's the best player or a positional need. Money matters. Asses on seats, merchandise, tv.. these things matter just as long as he is good enough, not necessarily #1 in talent or team need.

Yep. Zion is the 1st pick

Yep.

Zion is the 1st pick plain and simple

There will be 30 wins teams with zion, teams without him, it's a whole different story.

Lebron's replacement for the cavs, kevin love gone or not, anthony bennett's revenge pick.

Knicks's market(hype, ratings, merchandising), arguably the worst team in the 21th century, Porzingis C or not, if given the opportunity, they'll draft him, when you saw superstars like jeremy lin and Porzingis, imagine Zion's skill set and personality.

Suns MONSTER team need and MONSTER fit(no PF, no PG..., ball handling, playmaking, weakside shot blocking, rebounding, FTA, efficiency, fast breaks, hi low action, his versatilty would be huge for Ayton, Booker, Bridges and the W column i guess).

Sir Zion meets STAT.

Bulls, yes they have young bigs, he could play the combo forward role for them, highest capacity in the league, asses on seats like you said, Rose's successor in hearts, jabari successor on the floor(lol).

He's a PF with C weight, SF size and he's like a 50 pounds heavier, 10 more inches vert lance stephenson deluxe out there(lol).

Your losing team have a dynamo or not, he's a dynamo, a mismatch, the 1st pick(even if Barrett has a better career, even if he has bad knees his whole career, microfracture, ACL, too athletic, too heavy).

Barrett is a decent consolation prize, Morant is a team need for the suns and knicks(add the magic and pistons in trade up scenarios).

You draft zion with the 1st pick, you cry with the 4th.
