lilbags23511Participantlove the knicks getting sergio i think hes a great pick up for them and i think gortat will be a good pick up 2…….hes a legit 7’0 and is a defense presense……i mean maybe he can be a david but more deffenively….you never know he could be really good in the knicks system i mean david lee didnt do that much till coach D came to NY…..so dont say its a bad move yet……..i dont think they will need curry anymore……..i was told jordan hill is slipping we could take him at the 8th but i would loveee to get Demar Derozan from USC it would be such a steal hes the only other potential all-star behind Griffen……he would shine in this system and get a early second round pick or late first round pick to get guard out of france……rodriuqe beadois or w.e

mb6297I’ve been very impressed with Gortat. He has been very solid for the Magic. I just hope he remains to be motivated when he gets that bigger contract.
I haven’t seen Sergio play that well in the states, but he plays pretty well with Spain.
Looks like D’Antoni is surrounding himself with a lot of European talent. Let’s see how Gallinari will perform this season. He was pretty decent last year considering his age and injuries

don042488ParticipantThe Knicks made a trade for Sergio Rodriguez?
0 - Posted on: Mon, 06/08/2009 - 8:43am #158501
HaleParticipantYeah what? I havn’t seen this and how did they get Gortat? He is still playing in the finals so nothing could have happened with him yet?
0 - Posted on: Mon, 06/08/2009 - 9:09am #158508
lilbags23511Participantdudes there has been a report saying the knicks are getting sergio….and he will play great with that team…..idk why he didnt get min over blake…hes alot better…….and they are the lead runner trying to get gortat this summer….wow lol

HaleParticipantOkay, so rumors.

Knicksboy34ParticipantAs a knick fan man…i wanna make moves this offseason and draft…here’s what i would do
Lee and Chandler to Mem for Arthur and the 28th pick.
Why? Give us a solid late round pick. We could add a Austin Daye or Patty Mills.#8th pick and any expiring contract for Sergio, Webster and 24th, 33rd and 38th picks.
Why? We dont need Curry. I think we could add a PG like Sergio and a shooter/defender in Webster. Then we get 3 picks!!! We could add a Mullens or Young at 24. Collison at 33 and maybe Claver or Dasic at 38. This would also help Portland because the get into postion to get Curry and they add another Exp contract (maybe Hughes or Duhon or maybe even Q-richIn FA, i wanna see us grab maybe a Gortat or a Gray as a Backup C. Maybe add another PG and another defender (is ronnie brewer a FA?)
0 - Posted on: Mon, 06/08/2009 - 9:37am #158518
gatorheelsParticipantyeah ronnie brewer is a free agent I think he is restricted though. I don’t think the Knicks want to give up Lee & Chandler for Arthur & #28. I think you could get more for both them. I really like that trade with the Blazers though. I could see both teams wanting to do that.
0 - Posted on: Mon, 06/08/2009 - 9:42am #158523
j1232eParticipantis not a free agent, he is going on his fourth year rookie contract, and the Jazz with sign him to an extension so he wont even be a free agent next summer!
0 - Posted on: Mon, 06/08/2009 - 9:43am #158524
Knicksboy34ParticipantAgreed. But what can you get for Lee and Chandler?
I mean maybe if you can get Lee, Chandler and Duhon to Sac for 23rd, 31st?
0 - Posted on: Mon, 06/08/2009 - 10:12am #158545
NYKnicksuperFanParticipantLee and Chandler the 2 best players for a guy who doesnt even start for memphis(arthur) and a late round pick doesnt make sense, if those 2 guys are moved it will be with a large contract like Curry
For example- Curry and Lee for an expiring contract like Darko a backup guard like Damon stoudamire(sign and trade) a late first and a second rounder
And about Gortat, a couple of weeks ago i made a post about how some guys who were having great postseasons would be overpaid free agents, one of the names that came up was Gortat, i also metioned how Jerome James overplayed Tim Duncan a couple years back and then the knicks made him the most overpaid player in the game, Gortat while younger then James has a similar game with more emphasis on D then offense, basically the opposite of D’Antonis system

knicksfreakParticipantAre you really a knicks fan? Dumbest trades I have ever seen. Yeah lets just package up our 2 best young players and trade them for a garbage draft pick and a mediocre forward whom Lee and Chandler are both better than. First of all, I dont think anyone else in the world would be stupid enough to propose that trade. Secondly if we trade either player, it better be for valuable picks in next years draft, not this garbage pile. People have to stop offering up Lee and Chandler like they’re giving away tootsie rolls. What we need to do is re-sign Lee, draft a PG in this years draft(preferably Jennings due to his star potential), buy another pick and try to get Clark, Ellington, Budinger, Green, Christmas depending on where we can get back in. Then we have to sign Gerald Green for a one year min contract. He is still young and could strive in this system. We can be mediocre again this year and then sign our surefire free agent Amare.
Thats another point. We can buy into the first round. Why would we trade Chandler and Lee for Arthur?
0 - Posted on: Mon, 06/08/2009 - 10:20am #158549
Knicksboy34ParticipantWhat do u mean “buy” a pick?
Im telling you Chandler is not that good in my eyes…i watch 82 games and i saw him play. He is a decent player. I understand Lee he is a 40 Doub-Doub man a year.
Why buy into the 1st
Both those trades aren’t dumb. With no pick in 2010, we should move down and add more picks….
0 - Posted on: Mon, 06/08/2009 - 10:26am #158553
knicksfreakParticipantIt would be nice to add a pick in 2010. You make it sound so easy. Right now, they are our best young players. Chandler is our best defender. He plays the 2, 3 or even 4 for us.
Numerous sources have reported that some teams do not want to add the cap room and will be willing to part ways with their picks in this years draft for cash considerations. Including Detroit at 15 and several other teams later in the first round.
What trades?
0 - Posted on: Mon, 06/08/2009 - 10:29am #158557
RemarqParticipantTeam A gives money to B in exchange for team B’s draft pick, I believe it is often called ‘cash considerations’ or something along those lines. You hear it in trades sometimes too. We def. do not want to trade Lee and Chandler. Danilo, Lee, and Chandler are litterally the only people we should keep! Knicksfreak is right, this draft is junk esp outside of the lotto.
0 - Posted on: Mon, 06/08/2009 - 10:29am #158558
Knicksboy34ParticipantI think so too. I think by the trade deadline, The Knicks will add a 2010 pick because they have so many exp contracts.
I heard a deal with NYK get Sergio and that could help
0 - Posted on: Mon, 06/08/2009 - 10:32am #158561
NYK423Participantchandler is easily worth at least a top 10 pick and last year we almost traded lee for a 5th pick. Those two guys could probaly get us bosh or amare, forget arthur
0 - Posted on: Mon, 06/08/2009 - 10:37am #158563
knicksfreakParticipantI think its more likely we sign one of those Euro PG’s that we are rumored to be interested in. Now D’Antoni is supposedly liking Jack McClinton for a late first/ second rounder.
0 - Posted on: Mon, 06/08/2009 - 10:38am #158564
NYKnicksuperFanParticipantare usually traded for second rounders, rarely first, but never a lotto pick so there goes that idea, and usually its teams with money to spend( not the knicks,2010,etc) giving cash to poor teams( the grizz have the most cap space in basketball)
0 - Posted on: Mon, 06/08/2009 - 10:40am #158567
knicksfreakParticipantCash considerations dont go against salary cap. Detroit isnt in the lottery either. They dont want to have to pay luxury tax, along with alot of other teams.
0 - Posted on: Mon, 06/08/2009 - 10:42am #158568
Knicksboy34ParticipantYea but you know how many people want him?
I think we should go look into him but also keep our eye on Milsap
0 - Posted on: Mon, 06/08/2009 - 10:43am #158570
knicksfreakParticipantI dont want Gortat. Jerome James part 2. Save the MLE for somebody worth it or just dont waste the cap space. Chandler reminds me of Ariza. Both good defenders developing a better shooting touch. Chandler is much bigger and stronger though.
0 - Posted on: Mon, 06/08/2009 - 10:44am #158565
NYK2010ParticipantWhy would you want to move Chandler he’s the Knicks only real young thats proven he can play. Galinari is good but who knows with his health. I’d hold on to Chandler for at least another year unless teams willing to take Jeffries or Curry with him in a package. When was the last time the Knicks had an athletic SF probably Ariza and they traded him away too.
As for extra draft picks I like the Portland trade because it gives you a pg. Not sure how good Webster and Rodriguez are but with those extra picks you have some youth.
Signing Gortat would be nice he’s only 25 and is a shot blocker something Knicks need desperately. If they sign Gortat most likely Lee is gone.
I really hope they don’t sign Amare no defense, always hurt and his post up game isn’t great. Yeah he’s a shot blocker, athletic but he’s not worth max money.
0 - Posted on: Mon, 06/08/2009 - 10:44am #158571
knicksfreakParticipantNo more wasting money on role players. I’d much rather retain Lee than get Millsap.
0 - Posted on: Mon, 06/08/2009 - 11:02am #158578
gatorheelsParticipantI’m not a Knicks fan but I agree with knicksfreak….The Knicks in my eyes have enough role players…what they need a star or two.
0 - Posted on: Mon, 06/08/2009 - 11:10am #158583
knicksfreakParticipantThats what we’re missing. Thats why I want to give Gerald Green a chance because I think he still could be a star. I’d trade anybody or anything to get Wall next year. He will be the man.
0 - Posted on: Mon, 06/08/2009 - 11:14am #158585
Knicksboy34ParticipantIf we only drafted Anthony Randolph…….we could had have another young player next to Chandler….
0 - Posted on: Mon, 06/08/2009 - 11:16am #158587
knicksfreakParticipantI cry over that every night. I think Donnie Walsh does too.
0 - Posted on: Mon, 06/08/2009 - 11:19am #158588
gatorheelsParticipantI still can’t believe Randolph went 14th last year, I don’t understand why so many teams passed on him. I saw him play in college one game in person and he was very impressive. Smooth left handed big man that can RUN the floor. He would have been perfect for the Knicks.
0 - Posted on: Mon, 06/08/2009 - 11:21am #158591
Knicksboy34ParticipantI mean I like Danilo Gallinari and maybe he could be a good player at the 3 and a Dirk like at the 4 but he scared me because he needed surgery every one game…
I saw some film on this man….we may have something here.
Also, do you think Chandler can play the 2? If we add LBJ,he would play the 2…
0 - Posted on: Mon, 06/08/2009 - 11:26am #158594
knicksfreakParticipantYeah Chandler can play the 2. Lebron could even play some 4 in this system. Chandler has played the 2, 3 and 4 in this system. If Gallo can stay healthy he with prove his worth. He was one of the best big shot makers I’ve seen at times last season. I saw him make 3 3-pointers and some free throws in like the final 1:10 of a game. He hits them with someone in his face. I actually think he is a better shooter with someone in his face and the game on the line somehow. I’m not counting on Lebron coming though. Thats why I hope Green can come and be successful at the 2.
0 - Posted on: Mon, 06/08/2009 - 11:32am #158598
Knicksboy34Participantwhat do u think Gallo’s game compares too?
Also, as a knick fan, I think he his ahead of the curve because he has the size and body to bang a little bit…
also, im not Sold on LBJ leaving. I think Wade is leaving MIA though.
0 - Posted on: Mon, 06/08/2009 - 11:37am #158601
knicksfreakParticipantWade is the least likely to leave. Gallo is hard to compare. Honestly I compare him to Turkoglu with a better shot but not as developed in other areas. I compare them because of their dribbling and passing abliity and high b-ball IQ. They are also similar athletes. In time he could be very similar to Hedo and possibly even better.
0 - Posted on: Mon, 06/08/2009 - 11:42am #158603
knicksfreakParticipantA nice move I can see the Knicks making is trading for Camby. They will have a log jam in LA and Camby loved New York and Knicks fans loved Camby. I have to play with some numbers but this is a possible trade. Let him come and then re-sign him for a modest salary next summer so he can finish out his career here in New York. He would add what we most desperately need; interior defense. He is also very mobile.

0 - Posted on: Mon, 06/08/2009 - 1:17pm #158651
knicksfreakParticipantI dont know about that. What did Indiana ever do?
0 - Posted on: Mon, 06/08/2009 - 1:24pm #158664
Knicksboy34ParticipantI mean picks and trade wise…Indiana got to a Finals this decade

knicksfreakParticipantSo did we
0 - Posted on: Mon, 06/08/2009 - 1:27pm #158671
knicksfreakParticipantWhen did they get to a finals?
0 - Posted on: Mon, 06/08/2009 - 1:31pm #158676
Knicksboy34Participantwe got in the NBA finals in 99…last decade
Indiana got in the finals in 2000 vs LA.
0 - Posted on: Mon, 06/08/2009 - 1:34pm #158679
knicksfreakParticipantWow I’m scenile. -1 for me. Those Lakers years are a blur.
0 - Posted on: Mon, 06/08/2009 - 1:35pm #158681
Knicksboy34ParticipantI think we can trust walsh
he made some good choices in draft and knows how to make moves….i think he will thrive in a big market like NY
