White ChocolateParticipantNow that the Nets have lost out on Carmelo, could they pursue Andrei Kirilenko as their Plan B?
Andrei Kirilenko is a free agent this summer and knows Nets owner Prokhorov well enough that the two have dinner in Russia when Kirilenko goes home every summer. According to Nets sources, Kirilenko is on the team’s radar as a potential player and front-office official.
Here is my proposed trade, keep in mind that the Jazz have been dangling Kirilenko in search for a scorer:
Jazz trade Andrei Kirilenko to the Nets for Troy Murphy, Anthony Morrow, and a future first round pick
Murphy is just in there to make the salaries work and would probably be bought out after a trade, the Jazz get the scorer they need/want in Morrow who they had interest in signing this past off-season, and a future first round pick. The Nets get the player they want and Kirilenko, even though it’s not Carmelo they still get a pretty good player.

flyboyParticipantAre headed to Pistons/Pacers/Bucks etc. territory. Good enough to compete for a low playoff seed but not good enough to be a factor or anything more than mediocre. Mikhail Prokhorov is very heavy handed and strong willed, but too much for his own good. Kirilenko would be a major mistake, because they already have signed Outlaw to that big deal. Would Kirilenko play the 4? That would make them undersized, which is an issue since Lopez already doesn’t play big defensively/rebounding on a consistent basis. Also with Mozgov, will they play him at the 5 and move Lopez to the 4? Prokhorov should have started with youth but then signed mediocre players in Farmar, Outlaw and Petro and put themselves behind the 8 ball early. NJ is simply an unattractive destination for most players.

RickyRubio9ParticipantMaybe they want to rid of one of those overpaid players for Kirlenkos’ expiring contract?

flyboyParticipantBut it wouldn’t be a good deal from Utah’s POV, especially since none of the Nets’ overpaid players fit a potential role in Utah. Kirilenko now being an upcoming FA has some value as a rental, so if Utah decides to trade him, there are other teams out there who would offer better deals, that won’t come at a cost financially.

sheltwon3ParticipantI think people forget that Ak was putting up all star numbers at the 4 and he block enough shots that it made up for his lack of size of defense against a lot of players. Also Ak can rebound and block shots and do stuff that Lopez is too lazy to do. He can play the 3 and the 4. I think once Favors shows that he is a 5 and shows athleticism and some inside prescence, Brook could be moved for a all star 2 guard and pieces. Utah System was never good for AK for the most part and a change of scenery would help him a lot. I really dont think they need AK though and would be better served trying to get Prince.

CodySLCParticipantAndre would probably be more of a plan C. I know he has the Russian conection. And ya he’s good, but its not like he’s good enough to take a team from bad to good. And i dont really like the trade. We get two shooters, one in Murphy even tho he’s a good player he’s injury prone and a bad defender. I would rather keep A.K. His contract will help us get out of the tax for next year. The only way A.K. gets traded is for someone who is better than him like a Iggy.
