Mitch McGary received so much hype his jr. year..That there was no way he could have lived up to all the high expections his senior year..So he’s entering Michigan with not much fanfare …So if he struggles the 1st few games..He can learn from his mistakes and improve on them…..I expect him to be 1 of the nation 10 best freshman…..

 Wow… Nerlens Noel… 

First off… Not ANYWHERE near Anthony Davis. I have no idea why he’s out on the perimeter so much. He is a turnover waiting to happen. Second, He gets bullied out here… Imagine whats gonna happen in college? The potential is there, but Calipari has a lot of work to do. He’s a lottery pick off of potential..

 I haven’t taken time to really watch Nerlens Noel in-game for a while, so I thought I would watch the 2nd game (posted in two parts). I watched the game twice, the second time focusing on Noel for the entire game. After my second watch I was able to appreciate Noel a little more, but boy is he raw. I tend to agree with WolfRob’s assesment.

If anyone who watched the game was curious, here was his stat line (as per me, but I watched him carefully):

Points: 8

FG: 3-16

3FG: 0-2

FT: 2-3

REB: 10

BLK: 7

AST: 4

TO: 6

Of his 3 field goals made; one was a deep 2 off a nice jumper, one was a full court run/dunk after he grabbed a defensive rebound, and the last was finnishing through contact with the +1. His shot blocking, as advertised, was a difference maker. His most impressive play of the game IMO was hustling back after a turnover from his team and blocking what looked to be an easy lay up out of nowhere. This kid can definitely run the court.

There were a few other things that stood out. For one, on offense he operated on the perimeter for the entire game. Two, I was surprised how often he took the ball up the court. And three, although he handled the ball a lot more than I expected, he had a high amount of turnovers (6).

And in case anyone was wondering about his two 3-point FG attempts, one was when he caught the ball with 1 or 2 seconds left on the shot clock. It was a deep 3, and a brick. The second attempt was at the buzzer.

Although I certainly wasn’t overly impressed, his stat line of 8pt 10reb 7blk 4ast shows his impact. Even if he was 3-16 from the field and had 6 turnovers. I look forward to seeing his game develop at Kentucky.
