    Bill Russell is the greatest champion of all time in any sport, and arguably the second best basketball player ever, and Nerlens Noel will never be anywhere near as good as him. Seeing how Nerlens is a long, skinny, athletic big man with very good defensive ability and a raw offensive game, I see him as the second coming of Marus Camby.

    You know comparisons don’t mean they have to be as good as the player they are compared to right? He could just be comparing their playing styles.

     Last year Noel was actually compared to Russell by actual scouts so I don’t think it’s that terrible of a comparison. However, Russell was elite on defense and one of if not the smartest big man to ever play. So no I don’t agree with it I would say he is closer to canny but who knows.

    He does have a similar playing style to Russell. I love how many shots he deflects to himself or other teammates instead of swatting it out of bounds. He also seems to have great timing and awareness when blocking shots too.

    how can you compare noel to bill russell? have you ever really seen bill russell play? he didnt dunk. i know where you going with it because hes an undersized center whos great defensively, but they still play very different styles. bill russell played very controlled on offense (moving without the ball, setting screens, running the offense through the high post. scoring most of his points on back door cuts and set shots) where as noel is very raw offensively and primarily scores off of dunks.

    You do know that Camby has had a very good career and has more accolades and better stats than Chandler right? Tyson Chandler would have to finish his career pretty strong to be considered better than Camby in my opinion.

    I like Camby a lot, but Chandler has anchored better defenses, including turning around several previously awful ones. Camby was great, but always had strength issues with certain guys – Chandler doesn’t and gets the edge, especially when you add in Tyson’s freakish efficiency.
