fans to complain about Super Star players getting beneficial calls from Refs – b/c we’ve been the beneficiaries of "Star Power" for generations

But I am old school & I admit the NBA bascially making it so you can not even breathe on a perimeter player is a tough pill to swallow

But this is how the NBA operates & has for 40 years – Stars get preferenctial treatment b/c the League is Built on Stars & Star Narratives —- We all forget that the NBA was on the verge of going out of business back in 70’s

We Always get told Magic & Bird turned the League around but that’s Only half the Story – NBA fans do Not understand how Outrageously GREAT Dr. J was – remember the videos of all the not so talented NBA players in the 50’s & 60’s??? Well imagine dropping Michael Jordan into those Video clips & Imagine what Jordan would do

Well that’s what Dr. J actually was in the 1970’s when the NBA absorbed some ABA teams & Dr. J joined the Sixers – that Phila 76ers team Should have been the 1st Greatest Show On Earth or Showtime team but opposing teams Beat the Living Ish out of Dr. J on a nightly basis & the NBA realized we’ve blown the Greatest opporunity to Grow this League we’ve Ever had b/c Dr. J was Literally a Space alien On the court & the Classiest man you Ever seen off it

David Stern did not become NBA commisioner until 1984 but he started w/ the NBA in 1966 as an Outside Counsel (Lawyer) – in 1978 he became the NBA’s General Counsel (Lead Lawyer) & in 1980 Executive Vice President & Stern was a Visionary – he understood that if the Sixers & primarily Dr J had the Freedom of movement to do what he did in the ABA – where he won 3 NBA Titles & 3 MVP’s & was making the game of Basketball MUST SEE – that if the NBA could Duplicate the FUn, Wide Open Style of fast breaks & dunks of the NBA mixed w/ the organization & fundamentals of the NBA that a team like the Philadelphia 76ers w/ this Remarkable Super Star Julius Erving would be a Dynasty & would make the NBA a Power House on the American Landscape

Remember the NBA was getting So much bad publicity b/c of player drug use & bigotry and On the court it just was Not great entertainment – then suddenly you have Dr. J who captured the imagination of the Entire Basketball World Nation Wide & Dr. J was So intelligent & articulate & Classy that WHite people WANTED their Kids ot be like Dr J! But teams like the Bullets & Trailblazers & Super Sonics were rough housing their way to NBA Titles & knocking out the Sixers in the Conf Finals & Finals by Mauling Dr. J (& he Still was Avg 40 & 10 & almost winning Titles)

Stern changed all that — I realize I just took a DEEP Dive into the past – but it’s Important to remember Why we have the Rules & the Game we have today b/c it has Evolved & it has Grown & Developed for Important reasons — so yes it’ll drive us Nutz to see James Harden get 20 FTA’s but in the Long run this style of play is what is best for the League & we can live w/ the occassional Over reach by the Refs

I’m very happy that the league is finally talking about the Harden problem, but I can’t believe the refs are sitting here defending this hogwash. Luckily, the NBA is a league for fans. So, maybe next year, since people are finally upset, they’ll adjust how refs are interpreting calls.

Harden’s entire game is based off drawing fake fouls. Entire game. He barrels into someone and pulls back, locks the defenders arm in then shoots, falls back on the floor for every jump shot, and cries like a child every time they don’t call an absurd foul in his favor. People say he’s taking advantage of the rules and good for him. But he’s not. He’s taking advantage of the ref’s perception of what happened. He knows what types of things look like fouls to refs. The ref union should get together, watch some footage, and fix this farce.

I’ve never respected Harden because of how he draws fouls. If you take away his free throws then his points and FG% go significantly down. I know a lot of players exploit things in the NBA but I feel like Harden goes way above and beyond. The NBA should start fining him, similar to flopping fines, I bet he stops if he keeps getting hit for multiple fines per game.

We already know he’s bad at defense, it’s kind of become a meme. Just think if they took away his exploitive play, he’d still be good and probably a borderline All-Star but I don’t think he’s an MVP or future Hall of Famer without those free throws.
