can someone breakdown the differences and similarities in Eric Gordon and James Harden game. After Kobe and Wade get a little older Harden and Gordon should be the best 2 guards in the league.

    Better Scorer

    Better Shooter

    Better Passer

    Better Defender

    Better Athlete

    Better Clutch Player

Better at getting to the rim

    Better Overall?

To be honest, aside from athlete, I think James Harden takes the cake in each category. Obviously I’m a little biased here but I think it’s no contest.

Not a knock on Gordon but I just think Harden has and is improving so much. Not to mention, dude is shooting 10 free-throws a game this season

100% agree and I might put them as equal as an athlete. A fair argument could be made James Harden is the best shooting guard in the league this year certainly top 3.

lol Harden takes every category aside from athlete? Gordon is the better shooter and MUCH better defender.

Watch them play and Gordon is certainly not the much better defender, Harden has great defensive instincts and can guard the 1 and 2. Also shooting abilities is much closer, as a clippers fan Gordon is nowhere near a good shooter as people think, he is inconsistent as heck.

Better scorer: Harden, he’s much better at using angles to his advantage and more creative
    Better shooter: Gordon
Better Passer: Harden, it’s actually closer than some might think but he’s so much more creative and is a more natural passer
Better defender: Gordon, the guy is build like a truck and has long long arms which make up for his height
Better athlete: Push, I really can’t decide because they’re both so deceptivley athletic. But Gordon did have a 40 inch vert in combine
Better clutch player: Harden, go watch the western confrence finals last year against Spurs
Better at getting to the rim: Harden, his foot work and euro step are 2nd to none
Better overall: two years ago I would have said Gordon but now I have to say Harden

Don’t ask for opinions if you’re not willing to hear both sides.

James Harden has moved ahead of Eric Gordon, mainly due to the fact that Gordon has been traded to a young rebuilding team and he’s working himself back from a knee injury.

Scoring – I’d go with Harden, but it’s close. He has more size, plus he has a better mid-range game. Gordon’s mid-range game is still developing, so he’s still either a long jumper or a drive to the rim.

Shooting – Gordon, but it’s close. Neither guy is an elite level shooter.

Passing – Harden has developed quicker as a playmaker. Gordon missing on court playing time has hurt his progress, which sucks because he was really showing progress his last season with the Clippers.

Defender – Gordon is a much better on ball defender, but both players fall asleep playing off of the ball.

Athlete – Gordon, despite the fact he’s still working his way back from a knee injury. The difference is Gordon’s first step quickness and explosiveness.

Clutch – Push. Both guys don’t shy away from shots when the game is on the line and can close out a game.

Getting to the Rim – Push. Both players can get to the rim, but they do it differently. I just think Harden is more crafty drawing fouls.

Overall – Harden. First, he’s been able to stay healthy. I think he’s a more complete player offensively at this point, especially considering he’s developing faster as a playmaker. He’s also a better rebounder.

Harden is better for now, but I think Gordon can close the gap if he can get and STAY healthy.

How are we even talking about Gordon? The guy can’t play 40 games in a season .
