I watched quite a few of the games, with the exception of Isiah Thomas’s commentating – I think it was a very solid showing this year. By the way, Isiah says some pretty ridiculous things. I remember they were talking about Jordan Adams and how effective he is at getting steals and Isiah says "You’d think that getting steals would mean someone’s good at defense but it means the opposite. If you’re getting steals it means you’re gambling, out of place, and taking risk"…I just thought that was an idiotic thing to say.

Anyways, my 1st team all Orlando Summer League

    MVP G – Kentavious Caldwell-Pope, Detroit (24 ppg, 7.4 rpg, 40% shooting) 5 games

Pope scored 26+ in 4 out of 5 games before being shut down by Oladipo and Payton today and finished just 4/13 from the field. He has a smooth offensive game and really stands out as an elite shooter. He hit a huge 3 pointer with 5 seconds left to ice Miami after he had willed the Pistons back into that game. He made major leaps and bounds and will probably have a very solid season as the Pistons’ 6th man.

    G – Casper Ware, Philadelphia (18.4 ppg, 4.6 apg, 2.6 rpg, 1.6 spg) through 5 games

Casper was amazing in the game Wednesday vs. Brooklyn with 24 points and 8 assists. He helped the 76ers summer league team to a  4-1 record which will probably be the most winning they do all season long. He was effective in getting to the rim, executing out of the pick and roll and shooting from deep. There’s a good chance he makes their regular season roster after Pierre Jackson’s injury.

    C – Mason Plumlee, Brooklyn (18 ppg, 4.7 rpg, 75% shooting) 3 games

What Plumlee lacked in rebounding, he made up for in incredible efficiency. He only played in 3 games but missed just 6 shots. He showed a vast array of post skills and has elite athleticism which helps him on defense. I think he and Brook Lopez compliment each other well and Plumlee could very easily be the PF of the future for the Nets.

    F – Kevin Jones, Indiana (13.5 ppg, 10.5 rpg, 52% shooting) through 4 games

Jones led the Orlando Summer League in rebounding and proved to be a dangerous outside shooting threat as well. He is a true stretch 4 who can really shoot from mid-range. He’s tenacious on the boards and made a very solid impression with his play.

    F – Kelly Olynyk, Boston (17 ppg, 7.7 rpg, 2.7 spg) through 3 games

Olynyk isn’t going to wow you with highlight-inducing athleticism but he is an outstanding offensive weapon. He can score from all over the court. The Celtics even ran a good portion of their offense through him at the top of the key. He can turn and face up but also has the wherewithal to score on dribble drives. Putting a mega athlete in the paint next to him to make up for his shortcomings would be wise of Danny Ainge.

    2nd team

    G – Donald Sloan, Indiana (18 ppg, 4 apg, 3 apg, 49% shooting) through 3 games

    G – Nick Johnson, Houston (15 ppg, 5.2 rpg, 3.8 apg, 1 bpg) 4 games

    G – Jordan Adams, Memphis (15.8 ppg, 3.5 rpg, 2.2 spg, 46% 3PT) 4 games

    F – James Ennis, Miami (17 ppg, 5.8 rpg, 50% 3PT, 1.8 apg) 4 games

    F/C – Jarnell Stokes, Memphis (12.3 ppg, 9 rpg, 1 apg, 43% shooting) 4 games

    3rd team

    G – Victor Oladipo, Olando (14.5 ppg, 6.5 rpg, 2 apg, 43% shooting) 2 games

    G – Elfrid Payton, Orlando (7 ppg, 6.8 rpg, 5.5 apg, 61% shooting) 3 games

    G – Marcus Smart, Boston (13.5 ppg, 4.5 apg, 4 rpg, 2.3 spg) 4 games

    F – Nerlens Noel, Philly (13.7 ppg, 5.7 rpg, 3 bpg, 52% shooting) 3 games

    C – Mitch McGary, OKC (13.7 ppg, 6 rpg, 1 apg, 50% shooting) 3 games
