Although the knicks lost, Robinson posted some nice numbers. 17 points, 12 rebounds, 3 steals and 6 blocks.  If he keeps this up, he will def be the steal of the draft and a potential rookie of the year canditate.

The question with Robinson has never been talent. There’s a reason most of us had him in the mid-late first round of our mocks. It’s whether he has the discipline and motivation to produce at a high level consistently. Not sure one good Summer League game is going to assuage any concerns about that, but it’s a positive sign. I think at a minimum he’ll be a solid backup to Kanter this year.

I can see why he slid and I wasn’t sure what to expect from him but if this guy had played in college at all he would have almost definitely been a lottery pick. As long as he keeps his head on straight, just based off his length and athleticism alone he’s going to be an impact player. If he does develop his overall skill set and feel (which he likely will) than he could be a future all-star. Knicks clearly got a steal here.

As a Laker fan, I couldn’t believe he was going to fall to us. So lucky. Then they grabbed Moritz Wagner, who is fine, but I had Robinson ranked as the 10th best prospect. The Knicks had an exceptional draft. I think they still need one more good draft to be on the right track.

I credit Fizdale and GM for this great draft. We picked up two really solid players. In years past, the knicks would have done something stupid like trading the number 9 pick to the lakers for Isaiah Thomas.

Not sure where I had him on my "official" posted mock draft next to my icon, but in my Big Board thread that I posted under an assumed name at the official Memphis Grizzlies message board, I had Mitch Robinson at number 1.  Too much Wilt potential there.  Anybody here watch Wilt in real time?

On my big board, I might have had the overall raw rankings wrong, but I liked my positional rankings: centers were Mitch Rob, Bamba, Wendell Carter, Jr. and Ayton. Sexton as the top point guard then the next one taken in the late lotto (forgot who), then at the wings I had Donte Inferno, Mikal, and Heurter  — not sold on Mikal yet but he might be a system guy.  For combo forwards I had my deep sleeper Kostas Freak then Luka Doncic.  I think I had Bagley at 14 or so.

Mitchell Robinson looks like the one that got away.  Yeah, seriously I am seeing shades of Wilt Chamberlain.

The good thing about him that he is showing signs of being a stud with a year off from competitive basketball. He is not playing shape and it shows. He’s is breathing heavy but still competeting which is a good sign. Once traing camp starts and he is taught more he will be fine. In 2 years he will be their start center
