I know it’s still kind of early and there’s still time for players to come around but right now if you had to list 5-8 of the most improved players right now who would they be? I feel there’s a lot of improved players this year..

    1. Davis – is leading a poorly put together pelicans team fighting for the 8th seed in the west.. His average in pts have gone up along with his fg% going up too. He has improved his jump shot and was getting comparisons to hakeem earlier in the season. He’s also a canidate in the MVP voting.. He’s also averaging the same amount of minutes he was last year with 35..

    2. Butler – Although he is averaging 1 minute more than last year his ppg are crazy compared to last year where he averaged 13 now hes averaging 20.. Also his fg% is 46.. he’s a better 3pt shooter than last year still not a great shooter but has improved from 28% to 34%.. His rebounds are also up from 4 to 6.. Steals are still the same..

    3. Thompson – 44% 3pt shooter compared to last years 41%.. 46% from the field compared to last years 44.. Every year his ppg has gone up and now it’s to 21 he’s averaging 20 ppg first time in his carrer.. He’s doing this in less minutes with 33 min a game.. He’s also still a great defender..

    4. Favors – Averaging 16 pts on a Jazz team that’s not doing great this year.. but it’s not like Favors is the Jazz’s only scorer and it’s also not like his stats are inflated.. Last year he was putting up 13ppg with 30 min a game.. This year it’s 16 with the same min.. He has improved his jump shot.. I don’t know if many people watch Jazz games but I enjoy watching favors play and he always plays within him self but he doesn’t take many jump shots when they usually go in.. His fg% has stayed the same since last year.. same with his boards..

    5. Kieff Morris

    6. Giannis

I’m swaying away from the popular choice. Brandon Knight gets my vote, although I know he will not get the mention.

Where the heck is Draymond Green? Him and Jimmy Butler have shown much more improvement this season than Anthony Davis.

Jimmy Butler or Draymond Green. Preferably Butler cuz he hasn’t had the luxury of playing with Rose and Noah every game like Green has had with Curry and Thompson.

I think there are better choices mentioned above to win the actual award, but I’ll throw Gobert’s name out there since no one else has.

In 13-14 Gobert rebounded and blocked at a decent rate in very low minutes and mostly in garbage time. Also, his shooting was bad (.486 fg, .492 ft). This year he’s getting a little more burn (20 mpg compared to 10 mpg) and the level of play has really increased in all areas. His shooting is now at .643 fg and .667 ft and his raw stats are up too. On the season Rudy is #1 in blocks per minute at 5.06 blocks/48. #2 on the list is a tie between Davis and Biyombo, who average 3.86 blocks/48. Gobert is also #18 in rebounds per minute.

I think Jimmy Butler and Draymond Green are the likely guys, but don’t discount Nikola Vucevic he has been fantastic and if they had a few more W’s he would be right there. As Oladipo gets healthy the wins may come and could push Vucevic up the list.

I’m not saying he’s not having a great season, but I don’t see a ton of improvement in Anthony Davis’ game from last season to say he’s the MIP.

He’s improved, but I just don’t think he’s improved THAT much from last season. He’s still active this season when he comes to blocking shots and getting steals, but I don’t see that much improvement when it comes to his rim protecting ability. He’s gotten a little bigger/stronger, so he’s holding his ground better against bigger guys, but not that much more than last season. He still gets backed down and "bullied" somewhat by bigger guys.

His passing is still the same… He hasn’t shown that’s a part of his game. I’m not sure he makes his teammates better in that regard.

He’s a much better finisher around the rim this season than last season (which is scary) and a MUCH BETTER mid-range shooter, but I don’t see a lot of improvement in his low post game. I see some improvement in his faceup game (more confidence), but just not his low post/back to the basket game. I don’t think the Pelicans can run an offense through him really, which is why they’re stuck with trying to let Tyreke Evans and Jrue Holiday control the offense. Davis isn’t closing to being Hakeem on the block.

Jimmy Butler and Draymond Green are clearly the leaders for MIP. I’d go with Butler because there are things he’s doing this season that I didn’t think were possible. He’s completely added new things in his offensive skill-set that I didn’t think would ever be him.

I agree his improvement is really natural actually being only 21, what helped him most is his body getting bigger/stronger that helped his finishing ability, now I’m not saying he didn’t improve but not as much as some guys that were mentioned earlier.

I would go with Jimmy Butler.

Here is a guy who was an average guy last year, but with lots of upside.

Now he is a LEGIT top flight all-star, and a fringe MVP candidate right now.  A two-way guy too.

Hey he could finish up on the ALL NBA 2nd or 3rd team.  He wasn’t really even on the radar last year.

That should be a TEXTBOOK case for MIP.

I like Anthony Davis.  But, other than a tick up in FG% and Points he is averaging the SAME stats as last year.  AD went from being "this guy is gonna be the next big thing" to, uhhh, "this guy is gonna be the next big thing".

He will not win, but I want Shabazz Muhammad to get a shout out. Hopefully he can come back from this injury and keep up the improvement he has made.

Thank God the Warriors held on to Klay Thompson. He has become a clear all-star and near equal to Steph Curry (who is contending for the MVP). Without his improvement, the Warriors don’t become the best team in the league, and would look really dumb for not trading for Kevin Love. Now they look like geniuses.

Anthony Davis was robbed last year of the MIP when his numbers clearly indicated he was the choice. This year he is playing even better but I don’t see him winning the award if he didn’t win last year. Butler looks like the clear front runner to me. He is scoring 7 more points a game and shooting 6% better then last year.

Thompson is only scoring 3 more points per game and shooting 2% better so his team has improved in part because of his play but I think coaching has more to do with it. Thompson isn’t even the most improved player on that team since Draymond has played so well this year.
