    https://bleacherreport.com/articles/2809567-mike-conley-on-lack-of-respect-its-gotten-more-frustrating-as-i-get-older

In the interview he speaks about how he feels he is veiwed and being labelled an Allstar snub. Seems alot of it is in his head. Defenitely has a chip on his shoulder and is carrying the underdog mentality.

Quick question. Whos has the better career. Lowry or Conley. Lowry was Conleys backup at Memphis both played well and Memphis elected to go with Conley longterm. Career stats are pretty much the same, playoff success is pretty much the same, Lowry has been an Allstar staple but probably would also be a snub if he stayed out West.

I would give the slight edge to Kyle Lowry.  As you said career stats pretty much the same, but Lowry’s best season was slightly better than Conley and Lowry has made an All NBA team.

Lowry in Toronto has had a couple of clearly better seasons than Conley has ever had with Memphis but I agree that the difference isn’t so huge that one is a multiple All Star and the other has never made an All Star game. If Conley had played out East he may not have made 4 All Star games but would likely have got a couple of nods. Hopefully he finally gets All Star recognition this season.

I agree with Coach above that Lowry has also made All NBA which isn’t conference centric.

I believe Mike Conley is slightly better. Yes their stats are similar but they have different playstyles. Lowry is more of a shoot first/scoring type of PG while Conley is more of a pass first traditional PG who just happens to be able to shoot really well when needed.

The fact that Lowry is the scorer playstyle of the two yet doesn’t have many more points means Conley takes much more intelligent shots, which is reflected in his better FG%.

Lowry actually has slightly more assists but that’s because despite Conley being more of a traditional PG he’s been in a system where everyone passes. Gasol is one of the best passers in the league as a 7ft. Center . Lowry had DeRozan whom will shoot every time he receives the ball resulting in easy assists for Lowry, while Conley has Gasol who often passes back out to someone else.

The next factor is defense, Conley is regarded as one of the better perimeter defenders in the league and even made an All Defensive team once. Lowry is definitely not known for defense in fact he’s considered to be pretty bad at it.

So with these two players you can’t really just compare the stats, Conley is obviously a more intelligent player and hustler. When you give these two the eye-test Conley wins out every time in my opinion.

While I am not disagreeing with you saying Conley is better, its a fair opinion and you maybe right thats a pretty bad assessment of Kyle Lowry. Hes drastically changed how he plays the last two seasons. I mean he leads the league in assists per game. Last year he only averaged 12 shots per game and this year he only averages 11. He takes one more shot then he gets assists. Id say thats a pass first PG.

Defensively his one on one man defense is absolutely horrible. He cant stay in front of people. But he is amongst the best help defenders at his position in the NBA and a very good post defender for his size. He has led the NBA in charges drawn last season and is always amongst the league leaders for that stat and various hustle stats that go unnoticed. Lowry’s whole career was built on his hustle.

It has taken him some time to get to where he’s at today. Memphis front office wasn’t happy with him. They brought in Iverson & Arenas hoping they could offer the team. But former coach Lionel Hollin stuck by him. Earlier in his career he rarely got double digits in assists nor had many 20 point games and he wasn’t a reliable 3 point shooter.  As they say ,"if u want respect u have to earn respect. Conley has earned it the last 3 yrs. I think his game elevated during the 2016-17 season. When he shot career highs in fg%,career highs in assists & points. He averaged 24 pts in the 6 game playoff series lost against the Spurs. After the season he was awarded with an Olympic Invitation. This year he might get that All Star Nod from coaches if Memphis keeps playing well..

Never give up on these young highly drafted guards around the NBA – in the modern NBA the point guard position is SO difficult to learn b/c you are basically the Quarter Back of the team at Both ends & PG’s are now expected to score as well

Both Conley & Lowry really took off at 25 years old & elevated into All Star status

As far as who I’d take or belive it better – I don’t go by awards b/c awards are subjective – I really don’t think you can go wrong w/ Eiher player – both Conley & Lowry have that Dog in them – meaning they are Fighters who will not Quit & demonstrate Great intangible Leadership qualities

If you Force my hand I probably Still can’t choose b/c if you look at their #’s side by side Lowry & Conley are Literally Identical!

Both men are 6’1” – here’s the Per Game breakdown (25 y/o to Present included Only)

     Lowry 32 y/o 17.3 pts 7.0 Ast 4.8 Reb 1.5 Stl 82% FT% 38% 3pt% 46% fg% & gets to the FT Line 4.6X per game

    Conley 31 y/o 16.9 pts 5.9 ast 3.0 Reb 1.5 Stl 84% FT% 37% 3pt% 44% fg% & gets to the FT Line 4.2X per game

You just can Not get ANY closer than that – I Luv this Post but these are two fantastic Veteran NBA point guards who are at the Top of their game from a Mental standpoint & that took TIME b/c this is a Grown Men’s League – teams must be Patient w/ player Development Especially at the Point Guard position

When the Grizz were good, there was never a season when Conley was their MVP. It was always Gasol, and a tossup between Conley and Z-Bo for 2nd place.

This whole time the Raptors have been good, Lowry was clearly their MVP until maybe last year, when he and DeMar were co-MVPs. Even this year, if you look at advanced stats he is easily the Raps’ MVP.

And Marc Gasol has always been better than Lowry. So what’s your point?

Point is, I’d take Lowry over Conley. Because Lowry has been the MVP of a really good team for multiple seasons. Conley has been at most the 2nd best player on a really good team.
