I picked Louisville on my bracket, but I now think Michigan will win. Michigan usually is outstanding at taking care of the ball, which should allow them to turn the game into a matchup of which team can score best in the half-court, which bodes well for Michigan. Wichita State got its lead on Louisville in large part by simply winning the turnover and rebounding battles, and I suspect Michigan will do the same. And Michigan is a much more dangerous offensive team than Wichita State.

Lousiville has tons of talent, but to win, they need to play a good offensive game. If they play like they did against Wichita State, they will lose. Behanan may end up being the key to the game for Louisville. Like Fair in the last match-up, Behanan is a major mismatch for anybody in Michigan’s starting lineup. Behanan could force Michigan to play Horford and Morgan for big minutes alongside McGary, which could hurt Michigan on the offensive end.

Michigan will need to make shots to win, given the prowess of Lousiville’s interior defenders, but I do think that Michigan has proven itself a pretty reliable outside shooting team. And Louisville’s pressure could work against it if it allows Burke to get in the lane and play drive and kick. Burke has had some issues against ball pressure in the past (such as last night against Syracuse and in the regular season against Indiana), so it will be interesting to see how he responds against Russ Smith’s pressure defense.

Anyways, this should be a great game. I expect it to be close and have an exciting finish (provided the refs don’t mess it up).
