It is all very dependent on where Derrick ends up, Williams could be in the same situation Beasley was in his first two years; playing out of position on a team where he isn’t getting a whole lot of shots. I’d still say Beasley though, because he was playing extremely well before he got injured, and shows a killer instinct in the clutch that I like. Plus, he’s in a situation where he’s getting shots and being trusted to score a lot.

Is that he is too talented. He never had to develop basketball skills: like shooting, dribbling, passing, footwork, defensive positioning.

But his biggest problem is that he doesnt play with a chip on his shoulder. He was always going to be playing in the league.

The difference with Derrick Williams is that he came out of no where the last 2 years. The fact he had to work hard to get to where he is at, I think that will fuel his hunger to further develop his skills.

I disagree somewhat about Beasley playing without a chip on his shoulder, this was true during his Miami days, but he’s been a lot more aggressive and competitive with the T’Wolves now that he has something to prove.

His problem that limits his potential is that he settles excessively for jump shots.  If Williams is to reach his full potential, he needs to keep even more in touch with his slashing game than Beasley.

i thought on this some, and more and more i come to belive that Derrick Williams could make the transition to the SF position. why not?! i  mean SF who play physical, who brings back the post up 3 man, James Worthy type!!

i agree with the mention on how willimas has worked so hard too become an elite college player while b easy just got by on his natural abilities b easy will be a better scorer but imo williams will be a more complete nba player providing much better d and being a better rebounder than b easy

I definitely agree with omphalos on the fact that Williams can be in the same position as Beasley was.  I still like Beasley to have the better career, but he does have more question marks that have been brought up, like his lifestyle and work ethic.  The main thing that I am looking for in Beasley is for him to become a better rebounder than what he has been since entering the league.  If he does, instant all-star.

This is a tough decision for me mainly because I am a huge Arizona fan and I’ve been a fan of Michael Beasley ever since I saw the documentary "Gunnin for That Number One Spot." When I look at these two players the first thing that comes to mind is how they both dominated the college game for a season. They were both seemingly unstoppable. But, for Beasley he’s had trouble transitioning that dominance to the NBA for a number of reasons. Success in the NBA has a lot to do with a player’s "fit." Beasley was stuck playing out of position on a Heat team that really didn’t allow him to showcase his abilities. So, I don’t believe it’s really fair to judge his future based on the time he spent in Miami. I think that both players will have good careers in the NBA, but with that being said, Dwill needs to get drafted by a team where he "fits." Otherwise, we’ll be having the same debate a few years from now with Dwill and another player to be named later.

People forget how good Beasley was in college. I actually thougth the Bulls should have taken him 1st pick. However, i didnt know he was a drug addict. But if he can clean up his act( which it looks like he is doing now) i think he can be an unstoppable player.

He just has to show up and play a few games. Beasley is a terrible player on a terrible team.

    1,  Extremely poor defender,

2 given up on by one of the smartest guys in the history of the NBA -Pat Riley, taken on by one of the dumbest dudes in the history of the world-David Kahn
