Chilbert arenasParticipantI was waiting for someone to make this thread thanks For Never Ever, I didn’t want a double thread on main page.
I’m very excited, this is one of my favorite classes in a long time. Julius Randal, Aaron Gordon, the twins, Wiggins, Hill, Parker, list goes on. Lets go!!

AwardedBallerParticipantKeith Frazier, SG commited to SMU.

Lotto StudParticipantTonight when I seen Frazier I instantly thought of Jamal Crawford with his shot selection. Overall his game reminds me of Joe Johnson looking back on some of his clips. I hope he can make a name for himself out of a small school like SMU, it’s very rare a Mickey D’s guy goes to a smaller school and gets good draft recognition.

Lotto StudParticipantAnthony Barber seems unstoppable getting to the rim, he has one gear and that’s full throttle.

Professor RozayParticipantWatching this game I really like this kid. Once he learns how to change speeds and adds weight to that frame he is going to be a bad man
0- Posted on: Thu, 04/04/2013 - 4:30am #760197
M-EazyParticipantHe also needs to learn how to shoot too. He’s from my city and I can tell you 98% of the time he just blows past people and goes for layups.

LindseyParticipantIm getting annoyed by the heavy riding of Jabari by these guys. By watching this you wouldn’t know that Wiggins won 2 of the 3 player of the year awards, ball Parker is the only one ESPN finds worth mentioning.

Sewok15ParticipantHow many of the kids playing in this game would go #1 if they were in this draft class?
I would say at least 4 for sure in Wiggins, Parker, Randle and Gordon. I’m not sure about Andrew Harrison, Vonleh and James Young but they seem like they could possibly have at least been in consideration had they been in the 2013 draft class.
0 - Posted on: Wed, 04/03/2013 - 5:05pm #760120

IndianaBasketballParticipantI love Gordon’s motor too. I like this kid a lot.

franfranParticipantAaron Gordon reminds me of Michael Beasley
0- Posted on: Wed, 04/03/2013 - 5:36pm #760142
Sewok15ParticipantHe reminds me more of a cross between Kenneth Faried and Blake Griffin with better passing and ball handling skills.
0- Posted on: Wed, 04/03/2013 - 10:00pm #760171
JoeJoParticipantGordon a better passer and dribbler than Griffin? No way. Not yet. Griffin is an extremely good passer and dribbler for his position. Gordon has a ways to go to get to Griffin’s level.
0- Posted on: Thu, 04/04/2013 - 4:43pm #760359
Sewok15ParticipantIt is certainly hard to tell from only watching a handful of Gordon’s games but I feel like he is closer than you may think. Griffin has been improving his skillset for a while and is a professional. I didn’t mean to say he is a better passer and dribbler than Griffin right now but he definitely has the potential to be better in those departments a few years down the road.

Lotto StudParticipantSo who was your biggest disappointment of the night?
I was looking forward to seeing what Chris Walker had to offer besides athleticism, and he did not score a single point. Talk about being disappointed.

Stevenmy evaluation of the players i kept my eye on:
andrew wiggins: in my opinion if a guy is being compared to the next great thing.. i really believe they should dominate every game. even games like this. i just didnt see it. guy has serious athleticism, a nice little jumper, but i cant say much more. obviously he is going to be good. i just dont know about “GREAT”
wayne seldon: i love his game. think hes gonna be a beast. heck of a passer, big body for a guard, an OK jump shot. (ive seen him live, thought the same thing then, too)
noah vonleh: saw him live as well. im not a big fan of his to be honest.
jabari parker: another guy who i wasnt very impressed with. maybe had the butterflies, but idk. i can see the skill though, which i believe will make him a future all star.
0- Posted on: Wed, 04/03/2013 - 5:54pm #760146
Professor RozayParticipantHe was the player I was most impressed with during the game tonight. He is going to bully guards at the college level. What I love is that he wants to go to Kansas and turn in to a lock defender. You have to love that in a kid getting ready to play in college.

Professor RozayParticipantI think that Randle is going to do big things in college. If what Jay Williams says about this kids work ethic and competitive spirit is true…this dude is going to be a beast…
0 - Posted on: Wed, 04/03/2013 - 5:55pm #760147
IndianaBasketballParticipantI expected to see a little more out of Wiggins too. It’s only an All-Star game, but he doesn’t really play with a high motor.
0- Posted on: Wed, 04/03/2013 - 5:58pm #760154
Sewok15ParticipantHe seems to play with good energy to me. He scored quite a few buckets on offensive rebounds and seemed to play with some effort on defense. He ended up with 19 points and didn’t take any bad shots that I saw. I wasn’t blown away but he showed me pretty much what I expected…this is after all an all-star game.

HotSnotParticipantI know its way to soon to give such a bad review but Vonleh stinks. He has a ton of work to do.
He’s big, thin and clumsy. He doesn’t appear to be nearly as athletic as I would have expected. Poor foot work in all area’s. His shot and shot selection are well below average.
0- Posted on: Wed, 04/03/2013 - 6:00pm #760155
Sewok15ParticipantVonleh and Walker are very raw offensively. I think they both have ability to develop into top 5 pick caliber players but it will take time. The thing about that is they will most likely bolt after one year of college because their measurables will still land them in the lotto.

akhan786ParticipantJust to remind everybody…
No one should ever take much from these high school All American games. Guys like James McAdoo and Josh McRoberts have been named MVPs of these in the past…
Also I really don’t get why Adidas is trying to promote the hell out of these camo uniforms…Like I want to actually SEE the damn players not for them to blend in.
With the all black players, uniforms, camo, and floor color the only players I could really pick out were the lightskinned ones.
0 - Posted on: Wed, 04/03/2013 - 6:55pm #760159
Steveni will say one thing about vonleh, for a big guy his handles are unreal. trust me.
0 - Posted on: Wed, 04/03/2013 - 10:03pm #760172
omphalosParticipantYeah I don’t think you can fault Wiggins for not dominating this tournament, he has less to prove than the others, so why risk an injury by going 100% in a showcase game?
While I’m all for professional players going 100% at all times, high school kids should be cut some slack for coasting a bit during a game that is ultimately meaningless.
I think the fact that Wiggins put up 19 points without forcing anything or going 100% is just as impressive.
0 - Posted on: Wed, 04/03/2013 - 10:13pm #760174
JoeJoParticipantThis isn’t a tournament. This is a no-defense highlight showcase event. The “professionals” don’t go hard for their version of the McDonald’s game either except towards the end if the game is tight. Putting much stock beyond judging their athleticism and getting a preliminary gauge on their skill level is pointless.
The Hoop Summit game should be more illuminative since actual defensive effort should be expended. I’m looking forward to seeing Parker and Wiggins go at it during that game too.

lalailaParticipanti have different thoughts on Aaron Gordon’s performance..
besides 9dunks i saw only one lay-up shake shooting and raw skills, two buckets I really liked were his only non-dunk FG after dribble and similar type of dunk after crossing over his defender..I actually was more impressed with his rebounding (8in 24mins) and nice, offcourse not Blake Griffin-level like someone explained, but really nice playmaking ability if we take him as a strength four..so on one hand he is still a VERY raw SF or two short still a little raw even for PF..
on the other hand 24points is 24points, it’s one of the most dominating performances in MCDAAG in recent years, and he did it everything with his MOTOR like MKG did 2yrs back in his MVP game..
so if we are talking about MVP game showing he is the best then clearly no, but am I impressed, oh YESAndrew Wiggins- I understand “not impressed” statement, but his still looked like EASILY the best prospect, I mean 19points was strongly second best and he probably would have been MVP in his team won, he may not wanted to get all those dunks in fast break like Aaron but motor would be one of the last things you would question from Andrew if you saw what he did in past year (like twice dominating Julius Randle besides giving up like 40lbs on him) and skill wise I actually was impressed he took his “rival” Jabari of the dribbles for nearly whenever he wanted, he had some nice passes some rebounds and that one spin move on the same Jabari Parker getting long floater jumping of one leg was really that Kobe/T-Mac like move from a 18year old..it just wasn’t the game where all of the teammates knows they have to give him the ball and get out of his way
Julius Randle- another guy I believe could dominate it and has the motor to do it but looked not to hunt for that MVP title, and actually I liked his unselfishness, I always knew his playmaking is something closer to Blake’s than Aaron’s is, his athleticism agressiveness and a lot of moves in the post looks promising, his handles (playing like a point forward in the first half) looks also closer to that Blake-esque his shot didn’t fall but that’s not the reason to worry after one game especially when he heard he shot really well in practices..and the thing I like he really looked good two inches taller than Wiggins , Gordon..so he is a legit PF for sure..my #2 both on this class rankings and 2014 super-early mock
0- Posted on: Thu, 04/04/2013 - 4:17am #760190
ThepessimestParticipantI didn’t see him “taking Jabari off the dribble whenever he wanted to”….
I’ve only seen him a few times but he has an explosive first step and is very bouncy…but the jury is out on him. I know it’s not popular to say but I want to see more.
What Aaron Gordon demonstrated is that he has a handle and sees the floor extremely well. And in today’s game he can easily play the 3/4 position because more and more basketball is becoming a position-less game. He showed impressive ball handling skills and control with the ball. When a 6’8 man pats the rock like that then I am impressed.
Which brings me to Wiggins… I didn’t see that. I saw the dunks and the bounce and the first step is crazy but what happens when he can’t beat his man? I guess the jury is out and maybe he was coasting. We shall see.
Randle was impressive.
Parker to me will never show well in these type of games. It’s not in his personality and it’s not his game to go one on one. He is a guy who will look better in a system….coming off screens, etc. He is going to have to work on his body and quickness if he wants to maximize his talents.

ThepessimestParticipant….when people ask questions about Wiggins they may or may not get a negative mark. But it’s the same every year. Remember when OJ Mayo was the can’t miss prospect and he was ranked ahead of Eric Gordon and Derrick Rose?
Remember when Harrison Barnes had “Kobe Bryant level” talent?
You have to use your own eyes.
Wiggins is a ridiculous physical specimen but I want to see what “skill” he dominates the game with. I know he is explosive to the rim and crazy in transition…
Does he shoot it great? Does he handle it? Does he move without the ball well? Those are things I want to see.
I’m not saying he doesn’t have those things I’m just saying I want to see them. I’ve watched in on national television games and then last night and I can’t tell you what dominating skill he has at this point.
If you all have one please let me know.
0 - Posted on: Thu, 04/04/2013 - 5:01pm #760365
Ghost01ParticipantThis game means absolutely nothing in terms of next year, or the 2014 draft. Please stop with this Aaron Gordon #2 stuff…listen, I actually defended Aaron Gordon, because I had actually watched a lot of tape on him and read scouting reports when some jacko on this site said he was garbage a couple weeks ago. I think Aaron Gordon is a top 5 player in this class, with Wiggins, Parker, Randle, and Andrew Harrison. But none of that has anything to do with what I just saw last night. Its a limited defense exhibition, with H.S. kids, who will be totally different players already by their first regular season game this fall. Crazy shots, wide open game, no one really caring too much. Its supposed to be fun to watch, not meant to give everyone judgement on every damn player already. Claiming Vonleh or Chris Walker are terrible already is just funny.
