Alot of us have heard comments from mayo that he wants to play point guard. With conely starting to show us some signs of great potential..this becomes a problem. I like conely, i have no problem with him. I think he’s going to turn into a 15ppg-8assist-4rpg-(1-2 steals a game) player for most of his career.

I’m guilty of putting together ideas about mayo running the point and seeing conely go though. I can’t give an accurate measurment of what you can get out of conely through a trade.

I’m guilty of liking the idea of mayo and harden playing together, pg and sg. They’re identical height and harden weighs 10 more pounds. not many people look at mayo’s defense, which he can do very well. Can you imagine it though? it would be similar to wade and mayo playing together.. but not as good, cause neither mayo or harden will catch wade. I’m not hatin on chalmers, the guy is a pimp and from my home state !!!

if on draft night, memphis selected harden at 2, traded conely away for a powerfoward, how many of you would be disapointed?

    with a core of:
PG-mayo, SG-harden, SF-gay, PF?(conely trade), and C-gasol…This core is young, fast, and it can score and could defend.. (not counting the powerfoward, but i think they’ll get someone who can move down the court with the team.)

Conley, Mayo, Rudy, Pf, Gasol + Rubio, Mayo, Rudy, Pf, Gasol > Mayo, Harden, Rudy, Pf Gasol imo

I really dont know what to do with the pick, if we do move oj to the point and select harden i think we should add some pieces by trading down and selecting harden

    how about #2 for #3+Thabo
then conley(portland loves mike oden and him were unstoppable)+laker pick+arthur(would this be enough?) for aldridge

    Sign birdman+ marquis daniels
    then we have
Mayo/Maynor?(if we can move up a few spots from the #27)/Jaric
    Harden/Thabo/Buckner
    Gay/Daniels
    Aldridge/Birdman
    Gasol/Haddadi/Darko

    Not bad

I think Grizzlies future is bright. I don’t know about Mayo at PG. Not sure how good he will be. I do like Conley and think paired with Mayo, Gay and Gasol, they would do well getting a power forward. #2 is too high for Hill. Someone has to want 2nd pick badly enough to give something of value Keep pick until that someone steps up. They will, mediocre draft or not. Someone will panic on draft day when they hear that someone else is going after player thy want. They will overpay at that point. If they are confident Mayo could handle point, trade Conley. I know Blazers would love to have him. They could also trade Gasol and draft Thabeet. Not a bad plan. They have loads of options and hold the cards on draft night. Everyone knows about first pick. That’s why Grizzlies are in the driver’s seat. They can go several ways and that versatility works very well for them.

i really hope they keep gasol. i can see 15ppg – 11rpg – 2apg – 2bpg – ( FG%(54) – FT%(72) about what he does now ) within the next two years. I think mayo at pointguard is legit. He just wants the ball in his hands. He has massive potential and would be a versatile player, playing point or SG on the court. Gay should definitly develope this year, due to the averages he had this year…they were still good, but lower.

With mayo and harden at point and Sg, goodluck trying to guard the duo. they both can penetrate and finish- and harden finishes with both hands well. mayo will defend well with his height advantage and skills that he already has..they can only get better.

Memphis would be making a HUGE mistake if they let go of Conley & moved Mayo to point guard.

1st – They just took him 4th overall in 2006 & it’d be silly to give up on him this soon.
2nd – He came on REALLY strong after Memphis hired it’s new coach. Imagine Conley w/ a full season to play under this coach. I think Conley will break out next season.

Conley is a pure point guard who looks to pass first & score second. Memphis needs that. They need someone like Conley who’ll get guys like Mayo, Gay, Warrick & Gasol the ball. Mayo is a scorer, who can play both guard positions. I know it’s been an adjustment for Mayo playing off the ball (he’s used to dominating the ball), but I think it’s best for Memphis that they keep him at the 2 spot.

but if it was for the better of the team? as in conely goes for the powerfoward they need? mayo can pass. he is a shoot first, but i’m not doubting his playmaking ability one bit.

i don’t think drafting thabeet is the best option because gasol is a good player, hamed haddadi showed at the end o fthe season when he got playing time he can be good just has to work on not fouling, darko is best when he comes off the bench at the power forward position, like in orlando, where he can come and get weakside blocks and rebound, plus on offense his game isn’t really as bad as everyone makes it out to be

i would trade down to 14 with phoenix, i would trade the number 2 pick, arthur and jaric for amare
that would let phoenix draft rubio and then whatever they do with shaq and then memphis can draft someone like earl clark or james johnson

and i think mayo really doesn’t wan to be pg, he just wants the ball in his hands like d-wade and kobe, 2 guards that control the ball most of the time

Can work… People forget Harden can pass too… So, you have two guards who can pass and score… Sheesh extremely hard to guard… If I was them I would trade Gay and Conley… Gay just doesn’t work with Mayo to me… But I might be a little biased because Im an OJ fan and him and Rudy didn’t see eye to eye this year…..

gay and mayo will gell. gay was use to being relied on heavily. i think this year will be different and the chemistry’s going to be much better.
