don042488ParticipantThe Mavericks roster is well over 15 players, and seems like Mark Cuban doesn’t realize that….He keeps adding more players, Devin Harris the latest…I wonder who will get waived, bought out, or traded

alvarobParticipant“Harris, a one-time All-Star, has averaged 12.8 points and 4.9 assists while playing for the Mavs, Nets, Utah Jazz and Atlanta Hawks during his nine-year career. Once healthy, Harris will provide the Mavs depth at both backcourt positions.
His signing gives the Mavs 14 players under contract. Sources told ESPN.com’s Marc Stein on Tuesday that the Mavs are close to finalizing a one-year, veteran’s-minimum deal for former San Antonio Spurs center DeJuan Blair.”

JunkYardDogParticipantDonKrips you’re awfull…
Seriously here is the current roster :
dalembert
nowitski
marion
ellis
calderonblair (james)
wright
carter (crowder)
ellington (ledo)
harris (larkin) (mekel)I like the roster they build : complementary, with specific skills (3pts, inside def, banger, rebound, def on the wings). I like the backcourt (even if they will struggle in D) and the athletic abilities with larkin.
It won’t be enough in the wild wild west conf’ but they should be a dangerous team to confront in the PO. I can see them between 7 and 11 competing with denver minnesota portland. LAL and NOH could be in the mix too.0 - Posted on: Thu, 08/01/2013 - 4:39am #828352

JoeWolf1The Mavericks wear blue…I wouldn’t be shocked if that played a part in the Harris signing.

ProudGrandpaParticipantI mean, it must be a rough time to be a “Krypt” in Atlanta, because they’re all leaving town for “blue-er” pastures

BrentSuriaga01ParticipantI guess, that’s what they have to do after missing out on free agents like Dwight Howard, Chris Paul, LeBron Jmes, Chris Bosh, Dwyane wade, Deron Williams, Andrew Bynum,Josh Smith, Brian Scalabrine, Jason Collins, Darko Milicic, Luke Walton, Kwame brown, Tracy Mcrady, Allen Iverson, that guy from Iran, Congo cash and many more you name it.

TurnipParticipantOkay, I get that you’re joking, but seriously, if Cuban had tried to sign Wade he would have been run out of town with torches and pitchforks.

QuickPostCParticipantCuban will only waive players who aren’t part of the ‘Krypts’ because he is a gang leader. Every player on the roster has gang ties.
C’mon Don (aka CJ McCollum/aka Randy Foye) you of all people should realize that.

WITNESS2014ParticipantMaybe gang ties is what led to Lebron leaving Cleveland? Or it could be he just wanted to win and play with his best friends? With all these gang ties I really don’t know whats going to happen this next free agency.

HitsterParticipantThe Mavs have made sort of what I’d call neutral moves this summer. Monta Ellis may be seen as an upgrade over OJ Mayo but he is costing $2 million a season more and he will not be able to be a chucker so much on this team. Calderon is a quality PG but they have given him 4 years which could tie up cap space and are him and Ellis really going to help attract major FA’s I wonder?
Resigning Brandan Wright was a good move but that is another $5million on the cap for the next two years, I reckon that Wright Calderon, Calderon and Ellis will eat up $22.75 million of cap for 2014-15, add in the Dirk extension even if he takes less to help the team it will surely be $10 to 12 million a year at least and rookie deals and Dallas are in the $35 to $40 million cap range for 2014-15 which would leave room for only one max FA move.
Also whilst this is a good team, it does not jump out at any major FA IMO especially as Dirk will be 36 next summer and whilst still an elite player he’s not the same player he was when he was the MVP.
