yaboymalParticipantAnybody catch Marcus Thorton drop a cool 42 on the Warriors? I know the Warriors are not a good defensive team by any means but he still looked impressive, he is such a natural scorer he can shoot, create his own shot, take you off the dribble, also has a pretty good triple threat game..Does anyone see him and tyreke being the future dynamic scoring guard combo for years to come? do you ever think he can reach that 20ppg mark?
also I do not understand why new orleans traded him, im assuming it had to do with money and not his game anyone know?

R-Dot-13ParticipantHe is a very very talented scorer, i think he has the skill set to definetly be a 20 ppg scorer for many years, expecially after games like these

omphalosParticipantIt depends on how committed Evans is to being a playmaker. If you consider Evans the PG offensively, then Thornton could be a good fit at the off-guard. Evans could defend SGs, and Thornton could guard PGs. Like I said though, it’s up to Reke’s PG play whether he’ll be more than a 6th man.

OhCanada-ParticipantNew Orlean s traded him because he cant defend and he is ball dominate in a system that thrives on Chris Paul pssessing the rock and creating, and West getting post touches and facing up. Mostly because he cant gaurd his position thou.

mikeyvthedonParticipantHe has proven that he can score in bunches and while he has been starting for the Kings, I ultimately see him embracing a 6th man role. The guy has shown he can score at a high level, did so last year and is doing it now on Sacramento. Monty must not have liked something with him, though they did need help in the frontcourt and had to sacrifice an asset to get Carl Landry. Thornton has shown that he can be an explosive scorer at times, and while it is possible for him to average 20 ppg, whatever team he is doing it on will probably not be very good. He is a solid scorer and is playing well right now, but the Kings are still losing way more than they are winning. Not entirely on Marcus, but I think people can agree that he is more of a role player than a person who will consistently carry a team, much like BG.

JoeWolf1I don’t think he’ll be putting up 20+ ppg seasons unless he is always playing for bad teams like the Kings. The thing about Thornton is, that although he is a very talented scorer, he’s undersized and I just can’t see him starting on a playoff team. I agree with Mikey and I too see him embracing a 6th man role, when it comes to winning in the playoffs you need a wing defender and Thorton’s lack of height and defensive ability will keep him from embracing a starting SG role or playing 30+ minutes for a good team. Great bench scorer, though, I could easily see him dropping 15 or 16 off the bench and if he does that for a good team he could be a 6th man of the year winner.

OhCanada-ParticipantAnytime I speak of Ben Gordon I speak pre Pistons because they really aent utilizing him correctly, or any of there players for that matter.Ben Gordon used to be an extremely bright ypung player with Chicago. He hit big shots and had huge games of importaance. Other then being undersized he also wasnt all that bad defensively, he at least gave an effort despite his physical challenges. I dont think Thornton is a guy who gives as much effort, or can even gaurd anyone his own size.

JoeWolf1^ Gordon in Chicago, although mostly a screen shooter and bench scorer, was pretty good at setting up is teammates too. He averaged over 3 assists per game most of his career in Chicago and it wasn’t rare for him to go for 6 or 7 assist in a game.

yaboymalParticipantI agree with everybody it depends on what kind of player Tyreke wants to become because him and marcus are both ball dominant..I will bet money in the future if he does not start he will be in the running for 6th man of the year for years to come, he would also be a great scoring addition to a playoff caliber team if he were to be traded

yaboymalParticipantman ben gordon was a killer at chicago he was tough he was clutch and could go off in the blink of an eye..that celtics series he was probably playing the best basketball of his life..do you think he could be that kind of player again or did this detroit thing mess him up he just doesnt seem the same, doesnt play w the same killer instinct he used to play with, i guess its the whole vibe of the pistons organization right now

JNixonParticipantThornton will hover around 14-17 ppg AT BEST I’d say. He’s a big-time scorer with nice shooting skills who’s athletic, quick and aggressive, but he’s a ball-stopper who doesn’t defend, or provide anything besides scoring.

If Reke defends SG, then Marcus should start. He scored like 15pts last year as a rookie, Sac has a problem scoring. With d-cuss getting doubled he should get a few open looks then with reke setting him up and his ball skills, I think 12-14 will be his low games and a 25-30pt game atleast once a week.
The kid is killing it right now and the other teams are keying on him. great trade by sac to get him.

mikeyvthedonParticipantBad idea. Sacramento is already bad enough on defense.
