valentineI’ve taken all your comments on board about how to improve my posts. So now I want to talk the LSU combine.
I also saw UNLV are hosting one too.
LSU is now a powerhouse school. 2 taken in the last draft, and this season the team is stacked with future pros.
If Skal doesn’t line up for Kentucky, can LSU take the SEC?
What a matchup!

ChewyParticipantI remember LSU had 2-3 great years in like 2003-2006 (or somewhere close to that) and then they fell off again.
Personally, I think LSU will fall back to just a solid SEC team once Ben leaves. I think they lucked out landed a truly elite player and the rest followed to play w/ Ben, not for LSU. That to me doesn’t say powerhouse.
For the first time in the Calipari Kentucky era, UK does NOT have the best player in the conference. I could easily see Simmons lead LSU to a conference title, but…
I’m still puting my money on Kentucky for SEC title.

TimberTrollParticipantIf all those LSU tests are accurate then this guy will no doubt be the top pick. Before the combine I was down on him because of a poor standing reach and uncertain athleticism, but not only did he measure above 9 feet he also recorded a 41.5 inch max vertical. DX is reporting that he also reported the fastest 3/4 sprint in their history and a very quick lane agility time. Unfortunately, I’m going to have to take all this with a grain of salt. This is the first year LSU has done a combine and who knows.

Rip256Max vert reach of 12’6" for Simmons lol.
Dwight Howard territory.
No way right?

TimberTrollParticipantWe’ll never no what Simmons would’ve tested at the NBA combine because he obviously will never go. One way we’ll be able to judge is Blakeney. He sported both the 3rd best max vert and 3/4 sprint in DX history. I know he’s athletic and all, but I’m just going to have to see this one play out.

Rip256I’ve actually got a better Ben Simmons comparison….
A 6’10" Oscar Robertson!
As Fran Frachilla just stated….Simmons is going to put the season triple-double record in jeapordy. It stands at 6 by Kyle Collinsworth.

bumbleb33Participantthese numbers are ridiculous and highly unbelievable. He measured basically an inch taller (was like 6’8 w/o shoes at summit), inch longer wingspan, 5 inches longer standing reach than just 6 months ago. his athletic numbers are also incredible. I get inflating your numbers a little to improve draft stock but LSU seems to have gone full retard here. But if they somehow turn out to be accurate, he is like 2012’s anthony davis in terms of the no.1 pick.
I suspect he will be one of those guys that skip the NBA combine next year

Rip256Haha yeah..most blatant fudging of the numbers I’ve seen in a while. Putting Kentucky to shame.
Its kinda genius really. Because now he’ll never have his draft stock over analysed by combine numbers.
I reckon the NCAA is going to crack down on these kinda things if teams keep putting out such ridiculous data.

bumbleb33Participantyeah seems just like a big "up yours" to draftexpress who has him 2nd behind skal cos of his tweener length

NBAjunkie81ParticipantI think a family friend or relative is on staff – but doesn’t matter who he got there, he’s there & that could have a significant impact on recruiting going forward if they have a big year or if Simmons does well at LSU & in the future as a pro…
Still growing into a big time Basketball program is really tough in the SEC for any school outside of Kentucky b/c the SEC is such a powerhouse Football conference.. For these top recruits, it’s all about exposure & in the SEC, anywhere outside of Kentucky that’s an uphill battle – good post…

kdtriv01ParticipantExposure is easy to come by in the SEC. ESPN has started the SECNetwork. All these kids in the SEC are now getting tons of exposure.

McDunkinThese team hosted combines are giving out high verts the way nomoney gives out candy at the elementary schools he parks his van behind.
Take the numbers you see with a grain of salt
