FastAndFuriousParticipantIS A PROBLEM!

JaeEvolutionParticipantI didn’t expect him to be this good, honestly. Has impressed me in the early season more than I thought he would…

nick5354ParticipantI have watched every single Cleveland game and I am just amazed at this kid. All the hype about Rubio and the priase he is getting and Irving is just lighting it up and seems to be out of the lime light. I mean just looking at his stats 16 PPG 4 RRP 6APG of just 26 mintues. Yes, he is a starter but it isn’t like he is getting crazy mintues. His handle on the ball is nothing short of amazing. The way he gets passed oppents with spin moves, dribble moves and manages to finish at the rim. Not to mention his jumper which is deadly.

bloodshyParticipantI was at the Jazz game vs. Clevland on Tuesday. Kyrie was so obviously better than the Jazz guards it was painful (as a Jazz fan). He’s definitely the real deal. He’ll be listed among the top 5 pgs within two years if his health holds up.

The8thDeadlySinParticipantNow that we have seen him play more than 10 games, can we get a comparison for this kid??
0 - Posted on: Thu, 01/12/2012 - 7:56pm #624418
FastAndFuriousParticipantA Comparison? Hmmmmm I wanna say a less athletic Steve Franchise, the shake and bake game they have is very similar, from the crossovers to the spin moves to the stepbacks.
But Kyrie will be more succesful than Stevie because he has the IQ and skill part down, where Stevie declined HEAVY once his athleticism started to fade.

Michael.S.ParticipantI think he is literally nothing like Francis. Francis was a score first guard with an average at best jumper and was a headcase, he was flashy and innefficent. Irving is pretty much the opposite.

EntropyParticipantI like the fact that he isn’t getting 35+ minutes straight away. I think this will help him in the long run.

Michael.S.Participant"But Kyrie will be more succesful than Stevie because he has the IQ and skill part down, where Stevie declined HEAVY once his athleticism started to fade."
Good clarification edit. But still, bad comparison.

FastAndFuriousParticipantSo JamminLemon who do you compare Irving to? And Irving has alot of flash in his game, have you watched a full cavs game? Irving loves to shake and bake to the whole any chance he gets just like Francis, that’s the only thing I see in them the same the dribble drive game, that’s it, not the whole game, just the ball handling, reminds me of Stevie.

Michael.S.ParticipantChris Paul is the best one I’ve heard.
0 - Posted on: Thu, 01/12/2012 - 8:20pm #624444
BigDParticipantI think he’s very similar to what Chris Paul was in his rookie year whether he turns out something similar in the long run, we’ll have to wait and see.

PrecociousNeophyteParticipant@Entropy yea, unlike Iman Shumpert who D’Antoni will burn out by the end of the year

kobyzParticipanthe remind me Tony Parker meets Mo Wiliams
he’s solid playmaker and great at getting into the paint and finishing similar to Parker, but has excellent outside shooting ability as well ala Mo Williams.

kobyzParticipantand he will never be at the same class with Chris Paul, stop that comparison!

Tobe BryantParticipantHe moves just like Chris Paul.

M.GarveyParticipantsomebody posted in a previous thread that Rubio has a better 3pt shot, ARE YOU SERIOUS? If you want to trend for Rubio’s shooting look at this FT%, when the shot sample sizes gets bigger he’s going to come back down to earth. That being said I have watched almost all of his games live or on League Pass, he’s got a legit jumper, if it wasnt for 2 Toronto games where he was like 5-25 (an estimate, I didnt check), his shooting percentages would be a lot higher, not to mention he’s already an 85%+ FT%. He seems to be able to get the rim with his dribble, shots on pick and rolls and has the ability to find his teammates on drive and kicks. His turnovers got to come down and his defense is terrible like Nash’s, I mean terrible, Nash went right and finished alone at the rim and Kyrie looked flat footed. All this in about 25 minutes. He’s the real deal and will be ROY if Chad Ford and Marc Stein get off their Rubio man crush.[nothing against Rubio, he’s got amazing court vision and runs a team well, plus he’s really good on defense for 1st year player, he’s going to be a double digit AST guy soon]

M.GarveyParticipant^ add to previous, he seems a bit chunky, needs to hit the weight room and sprints, other than that i’m thoroughly impressed.

coreykParticipantKyrie’s game will grow as Cle gets some shooters. Considering that the othes starters could all be gone when kyrie gets into his 2nd year. (Andy should still be on the team unless someone offers the moon, Casspi might be on the bench) Right now he is a shoot first pg because he has to. When we get some players who can put up some pts, Kyrie’s passing and leadership willl get more coverage. Whoever said Tony Parker is right. Kyrie gets to the rim as easilly as Parker but might shoot better than him now.
